In The Beginning, Chapter 75

Daniel waited until I had drunk all of my water before standing and taking my hand, he led me back to the elevator, with Theia, Ben and Maria following closely behind. We came out on another floor, but how anyone told them apart I had no idea as this was another version of the other two floors. Daniel entered a code, the man in the booth verified the code, and the steel door opened, but this time with a pressurised hiss. Daniel led me through a narrow corridor, as we moved deeper the walls changed from concrete, to some sort of glass, revealing rooms to our left. To the right of each large pane of floor to ceiling glass, was a metal section, with a touch pad on it, not unlike the shower, I thought, then shivered at the idea of anything in our home resembling this place. Inside the rooms beyond the glass were a bed, with white and grey sheets, a small desk and chair that were built into the wall. Behind that was a frosted partition, but where the partition ended I could see a sink with a mirror above it. To the right of that was a heavy steel door, the female was in the first room, sat on the floor beside the bed, wearing grey sweats. The minotaur was in the second room, attached to a drip, and a doctor was treating him, while an Eta stood guard. Daniel leaned against the concrete wall behind me while he waited for something, although what I was unsure. Quickly, the doctor disconnected everything, and he and the Eta wheeled the equipment out, sealing the steel door behind them with a hiss that brought to mind hyperbaric chambers. Within seconds the minotaur began moving, groggily at first, sitting up in the bed with his back to us, like he was unaware of us, his eyes glued to the door. Daniel moved forward and pressed something on the touch pad, I heard a click, which the minotaur and female flinched at, obviously they heard it too.
“I have a proposition for you both.” Daniel spoke clearly, the female stood from behind the bed, but made no move to approach us.
“What do you mean both?” She asked, suspicious of us.
“Anore?” Tau called, the last of the drugs leaving his system quickly as he stood and charged at the steel door. “ANORE!!!” He bellowed, the sorrow in his cries pitiable.
“Tau? Tau, you’re alive? Is it really you?” The female, Anore cried, tears spilling from her big black eyes. Daniel pressed another few buttons on the pad, and a live stream of the other’s cell appeared on the wall opposite the end of the beds. Anore sat at the foot of the bed, just watching Tau, and ignoring us, the camera must have been above the screen somewhere, as it almost looked like they were looking at each other.
“Release her, and I will do whatever you wish.” Tau vowed, his hand moving to the screen, while Andrew shook her head vehemently.
“No, I’m not going anywhere without you.” She argued.
“You have a chance, without your mark, to be free.” He insisted.
“How did you know?” She asked, confusion colouring her face.
“Not all the wolves here are as brave and strong as their Alpha, it was easy to get him to talk, and according to him, no one can shut up about their new Luna, and how she removed some tracking device from their newest prisoner.” Tau shrugged.
“Yes, well as adorable as you are as a couple, how about you listen to our proposal before you go falling on your swords for one another.” Ben muttered, earning him a nudge from Maria.
“You may remain on Earth, and we will execute you for attacking a pack member, and trespassing on our lands, attempted kidnap of our Luna, and attempted prisoner escape. Or, you can go to another world, with Theia, you will be given land, and a home, where you may live out the rest of your days, but you will never feed again. The choice is yours; we will give you a few moments to discuss it. Daniel pressed a few icons, there was another click, then he turned to face Ben. “Do you have to make a joke out of everything?” He asked, turning back to the rooms, and I saw the couple watching him intently. Anore asked Tau something, but I could no longer hear it.
“Why can’t we hear them?” I asked Daniel.
“I turned the speakers off, they can hear each other but not us, I told them I would give them time to discuss it.” Daniel frowned and I couldn’t help but laugh, even when he was threatening someone with death, he was courteous.
“Always the gentleman.” I teased, but I could have sworn I saw a slight blush under his beard. Anore began waving her hands to get our attention, while Tau had begun pacing, which looked slightly manic considering her could only take three steps before disappearing from Anore's screen, causing her to get upset.
“How do we know this isn’t a trap? That you won’t put your marks on us and make us slaves?” Anore asked, while Tau snorted to display his distrust.
“There are no slaves on my sister’s world. But also, no food source for you, the Amazon’s that police and government the world cannot be fed on, and will kill you if you attempt to feed on those in their charge. You are not the first we have taken, but it was a long time ago when we did this last.” Theia explained, and Anore looked imploringly at Tau.
“We can really have a home? Be... be left alone... forever?” She asked, and Theia explained about the basin, going into more detail about the livestock there, and their ability to get and store provisions. Hearing more details seemed to calm the minotaur, while I saw a hope bloom with Anore. Seeing it too, Tau finally relented.
“We... we will go with you.” Tau nodded to Theia, and she smiled, but it faltered as she looked to Anore.
“Can I ask, about both of your parents? And how they are related to Zeus?” She asked softly, Anore and Tau exchanged a look.
“I am the great granddaughter of Hermes, my mother was an air nymph, my father was centaur that abducted her, raped her, then fed her to me when I was born. Then he gave me to Apollo, as a gift, as a slave when I was ten. Why?” Anore asked, but Theia pressed Tau.
“And you?”
“My father was a minotaur, obviously. There are no females left, so my mother was human, she was also stolen from her family, raped... When... when a minotaur is born... the human body wasn’t designed... I tore my mother apart when I was born...” He whispered; his voice filled with shame.
“I’m very sorry to have to tell you this, but you should know. We have done extensive studies onto Zeus’s children, and we have never met anyone as removed from the source as you, conceiving a child.” Theia explained, and while Tau looked relieved, Anore turned her back on all of us, walked behind the frosted partition, and began to sob softly. Without waiting for permission Theia disappeared in a puff of sparkles, and reappeared a few minutes later, with Anore, in front of Tau. Theia tactfully handed Anore to Tau, and was back beside me a second later.
“That was kind, and you are gonna have to explain teleporting to me one day, it’s so much easier to do something if I understand the science.” I explained, and Theia’s face lit up.
“Then tomorrow I will give you a science lesson before our training!” She decided with glee.
“Not tomorrow, she has Luna duties welcoming the new warriors, who are coming to us from our neighbouring packs.” Daniel interjected, and I huffed at once again not being asked. “I mean, I would really like it if you would welcome the warriors with me, they are not going to do their best work if they feel like they’re interlopers. Having you there to reassure the females and pups would mean a lot to me.” Daniel explained, squeezing my hand softly.
“Tuesday, 1pm, I will not be late.” I promised Theia.
“Just... be careful, in the meantime.” Theia replied, nodding her agreement, Daniel slipped behind me, and wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder.
“I cannot wait to get you home.” His rough growl rippled through my mind.
“Are you sure you’re not too sore?” I teased.
“You healed all that remember?” He purred. “But even before you healed me, I wasn’t hurt enough to prevent me from making you scream my name.”
“What exactly were you thinking?” I asked, and his soft dark chuckle so close to my ear, made me shudder with need.
“Oh, my sweet.” He lay a soft kiss on my neck. “Innocent.” Another kiss, lower, closer to my mark. “Mate.” And with that he licked my mark, and I felt my knees buckle, but his hands kept me in place.
“You'll see.” He chuckled darkly. I glanced around, sure someone could see my flushed cheeks, or Daniel grinding his hips against my ass so I could feel how hard he was. Ben and Maria were holding each other, and also seemed to be talking via the link, but it seemed far less sexual than the conversation between Daniel and I. Theia was examining the touch pad with interest, while Tau was saying something to Anore as he wiped the tears from her eyes. Then with a nod, they turned to face Theia through the glass, holding hands. She pressed something and we heard the click again, all of us looking up to follow the sound.
“We are ready to leave now.” Tau said, and Anore gripped his arm with her free hand.
“There’s just one last thing before you go.” Daniel informed them, and Tau frowned, looking furious, like they had been duped. Before he could say anything the doctor from earlier came in with a man attached to a drip, with half of his face severely bruised.
“Tate Cooper, thank you for coming here tonight. Is that the man who attacked you?” Daniel asked the man, and pointing at Tau.
“Yes Alpha.” Tate nodded, looking around unsure.
“Do you know why he attacked you?” Daniel asked, and again Tate nodded.
“He asked me why I had her scent on me, I told him I had cleaned her room, but he didn’t believe me. He demanded I tell him what was done to her, but the only thing I had heard was what Luna did! He called me a liar, and hit me, I didn’t know what else to do, so I shifted to make a run for it! But before I could get away, he knocked me out. I head the Delta, and you Alpha saved my life.” Tate finished, baring his neck, and still visibly shaken.
“Are you mated yet?” Daniel asked, and Tate visibly blushed with his one uninjured cheek, which just worsened the appearance of his wounds.
“Yes Alpha, we met at the Autumn Equinox festival.” Tate nodded.
“You would do anything for her?” Daniel asked softly, and the meek man stood straight for the first time.
“Yes Alpha.” He replied, looking at Daniel confused.
“Would you break into a pack? Attack a wolf that carried her scent, for information?” Daniel asked, and the man blanched.
“I have the right to demand he pay.” The man said softly, his eyes on the ground, his confidence gone.
“Yes, you do. I have agreed to let Theia take the minotaur, and his female to another world. They will never return to Earth, let alone this pack. If you agree this punishment is just.” Daniel explained, leaving me to walk up to the glass. “Tau? May we see your mark?” Daniel asked calmly, Tau turned so his shoulder was exposed. “This is a slave mark, a way to track and control, put on him by our enemy. So, now I ask you, what is fair? What is just?”
