Chapter 26
“You’re not crazy, very few humans know the truth about the other species that inhabit the planet with them. For good reason, some were jealous, some were scared, they hunted us. So, we went into hiding, as did the others. It was safer that way, but we are real.” He whispered.
“O-others?” My mouth was dry and between the lack of food and the multiple shocks, I was getting a headache and feeling dizzy. He stayed on his knees, he kept lifting his hands, I knew he wanted to hold me, but I couldn’t handle that. Not after everything he had told me.
“Yes, others, like nymphs. Elaina is half-nymph actually, which is why you were so drawn to her. Humans are unusually attracted to nymphs, they have a sexual energy that affects most creatures, but humans are the most susceptible.” He explained, softly like I was a small child he didn’t want to scare. I felt my body sway, none of it made sense. The only thing that made sense was that I had suffered some sort of psychotic break, maybe back in college, maybe after I graduated, it’s not like I would know either way. My knees finally gave way and I prepared myself for the pain of my body hitting the ground. But it never came, instead, he caught me and once I was in his arms, I found it hard to think about anything else. He carried me back to the house, part of me wanted to protest, but I couldn’t make the words come out of my mouth. Because a much larger part of me felt perfectly at home in his arms. I wanted him to kiss me, I wanted him to make love to me, I wanted to do unspeakably dirty things with him, and I wanted him to be mine. Was that the mate bond? Or was it just I knew how exquisite his love could be? I didn’t know and I was too tired to try and work it out. I felt my eyelids droop, I could feel my body getting heavier, exhaustion dragged me under, until everything was dark.
I woke up on the same couch from my dream, the woollen blanket was over me and I could hear people moving about the house. I kept my eyes closed as I weighed my options. If I was insane, everything had to be in my mind, was the best option to fight against the delusion or play along until the doctors could get me out? I thought though I had no idea. I felt someone shift close to me and couldn’t stop myself from gasping.
“I know you’re awake.” His deep voice felt warmer than any blanket, it made me feel safe, despite everything. “When you’re ready, the kitchen staff have made you some soup. It’s important you eat after everything you’ve been through today. Then we can talk some more before I take you back to Appletree.” I was afraid to open my eyes, but I wanted to see him again, it felt like my brain and my heart were at war with each other. I heard him stand and walk a few steps away from me, I let out a whine, hating the distance between us, but terrified to be close to him all the same. My eyes opened against my will, thankfully he was dressed, but he still looked incredibly sexy in his tailored grey suit. He held out a hand for me, as he closed the distance between us. “Please, you need to eat something.” He whispered as I remained frozen in place. I pushed myself up into a seated position and took his hand. I allowed him to pull me to my feet, his arm snaked around my waist, which held me steady while he pulled me against him. Another gasp escaped my lips as his face lowered, he released my hand and swept my hair over from my shoulder, he ran his nose down my neck. I felt my pussy quiver and my panties dampen as his hands ran up my back. He made a familiar throaty noise, that turned me to jelly. “I can smell how aroused you are. It’s making it very hard not to throw you over that table and re-enact our dream. Do you have any idea the effect you have over me?” He murmured; his lips were so close to my skin I could feel his breath. My fingers ran up his arms and laced themselves through his hair, my breathing became uneven as his nose trailed my jaw. Insane or not, he felt so good, I never wanted to leave his embrace. His lips captured mine, he lifted me, and my legs gripped his waist. He sat back down on the couch, as I straddled him, he ran his tongue along my bottom lip, asking for entry which I gave, willingly. His hand seized the back of my neck as our tongues danced, his other hand moved up my thigh under my skirt. The tips of his fingers traced my panty line across my stomach, I felt his erection grow between my thighs, as his fingers explored my folds. “Fuck, you’re so wet. You have no idea how much I want you.” He breathed against my lips; I moaned as he slid inside me. A shudder ran through me as his thumb, teased my clit. “We should stop before I get carried away.” He whispered, but neither of us moved, I pressed my lips to his, my silent prayer for him not to continue. My head snapped back as he added another finger inside me, his skilled movements, caressed my g spot, as his thumb still stroked my clit. I clasped his hair, and shoulder, biting my lip to stifle my whimpers. He trailed kisses down my throat, to my chest. I couldn’t stop myself from moaning his name as my orgasm built.
“Daniel!” It was a cry of ecstasy, of worship, and of longing. I hadn’t allowed myself to think about what our meeting would be like if he had been real, but if I had, it would have been that. He removed his fingers quickly; I whined in longing. He brought his fingers to his lips and sucked them clean.
“You taste even sweeter than in my dreams.” He groaned in appreciation; my cheeks flushed pink, and his eyes flickered to the amber of his wolf. “But if I don’t stop now, I will take you upstairs and my wolf will mark you. I don’t want to do that without your permission, but he is clawing at me, to put our mark on your beautiful skin. I don’t think I can keep him at bay for long, and you need to eat.” His body was stiff like he was restraining himself. I couldn’t think of anything I wanted more than him right in that moment. I leaned in and nibbled on his bottom lip; I heard a tearing noise, which confused me. I pulled back to see his hands had turned to claws and he had ripped open one of the couch cushions. I jumped back, almost off his lap altogether, he caught me and pulled me against his chest. “Didn’t your mother ever teach you it’s dangerous to tease a wild animal?” He growled, his voice was gravelly and fierce, his eyes practically glowed amber. I shrank back in fear, his eyes returned to their beautiful brown, his claws retracted. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He said gently. “Come on, let’s get you some food, and we can talk.” He lifted me off his lap, placing my feet on the ground, I took an unsteady step back, my legs still weak. He stood, grabbed my arm to steady me, he took a deep breath. “When did you eat last?” He asked sternly.
“Last night, I think.” I replied, my eyes glued to the ground.
“I thought you looked thinner. You need to eat, now. And start taking better care of yourself.” He led me to the kitchen. “Sit.” He ordered, I took a seat at the table, almost immediately a large bowl of beef and vegetable soup was placed in front of me by one of the women. He sat opposite me, a bowl of soup had been placed in front of him too, and a large plate of fresh bread was between us, next to little silver salt and pepper shakers. He picked up his spoon and raised an eyebrow, silently instructing me to do the same. The same woman who had given me a plate brought over two tall glasses of water.
“Thank you.” I smiled weakly at her. “It smells wonderful.” I managed to say quietly, lifting my spoon to taste it. It was delicious, the vegetables were soft and full of flavour, and the beef was tender and sweet. I let out a little groan of appreciation, my eyes closed as I savoured every texture and taste. I heard Daniel chuckle at my display. My cheeks flushed hot and red. “It’s incredible, thank you,” I said to the woman.
“You’re welcome, dear, try some of the bread, it was baked fresh this morning.” She encouraged, as Daniel cleared his throat. She bared her neck and went back to cleaning and instructing the others in the kitchen.
“I’m glad you like it.” He said as I took a sip of water. “Do you want to talk now, or after you have eaten?” He asked, his voice lower, but I suspected the others could still hear. I looked over my shoulder at the women. “They won’t mind, you can ask anything, if you decide to stay, you will be their Luna, their queen. You should never feel uncomfortable around them.” He said with a smile.
“Easy for you to say.” I retorted. “You’re not the lamb in the wolf’s den, surrounded and defenceless.” He laughed, loud and long, his whole face lighting up. I heard something clang behind me and turned to see several of the women looking at us, with love and admiration in their eyes. They dropped their gazes as soon as I looked at them. The woman who had served us stepped forward.
“I apologise, Alpha, Luna, we have never heard Alpha laugh like that before, it shocked us.” She said, eyes still on the floor.
“It’s alright Kathy, resume your work.” She nodded once and went back to the women ushering them in hushed tones.
“You don’t laugh much then?” I asked, confused, we had laughed and played for hours during our dream dates.
“I didn’t, before I met you.” He smiled. “Everything changed when I met you.”
