Chapter 47
“It’s enormous!” I exclaimed. “But why isn’t it full? And why do you have a dresser when you have all this space?” I asked confounded by his logic.
“I dunno, I like keeping my underwear and socks and sweats in the bedroom, this was built by my father for my mother, when they moved in here. I didn’t know what to do with it, so I left it as it was.” He stated simply, shrugging at the beautiful space. I shook my head at him as I walked back into the bedroom to the dresser, where the handful of things I had with me were folded. I pulled out my black-knitted, long-sleeved dress for the funeral.
“Could I hang this in your closet? I don’t want it to get wrinkled.” I asked, him as I double-checked I had nothing nicer to wear to Ben and Maria’s. I thought about wearing it for a second but changed my mind, I needed it for the funeral and had no idea what the dry-cleaning situation was in the pack.
“Of course, you can, you don’t have to ask me, this is going to be your home too!” He took the dress off me and walked back into the closet. “Why aren’t you wearing this dress today? Not that I’m complaining, you look amazing in everything. But you were freaking out about not having anything nice to wear.” He called from the closet as I dropped my towel in the hamper and put my panties and bra on.
“It’s my funeral dress!” I called after him when I heard a growl behind me. I turned to see his eyes trailing up and down my body, visually devouring every inch of my exposed skin. I blushed at his unashamed ogling. “No, we don’t have time and you are not messing up my hair!” I warned, holding my finger up as I tried to be firm with him, but he burst out laughing at my reaction, which left me a little deflated.
“We have time, and I can think of a few positions that won’t mess up your hair at all!” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at me.
“Later, and I will wear the lingerie!” I countered, I refused to give in to the temptation.
“Fine, but I get to choose the lingerie!” He argued which made me smile.
“Deal!” I turned back to my clothes.
“Then you need to put something on because I’m never going to get this,” I turned back to him and he pointed at his groin, “into my jeans.” I laughed at him being silly before I got frustrated at my lack of options.
“I’m trying to find something to wear. I just want to look my best and I don’t have the perfect outfit here.” I grumbled, as I looked through the clothes for the umpteenth time and still only found the jeans and sweater. It was a beautiful sweater, soft and pale pink, not too form-fitting, long and with a V-neck that wasn’t too low. But it was still very casual, I slipped it on and checked it out in the mirror, it flattered my curves without clinging to them, and fell past my hips elongating my body.
“You look hot.” He smiled. “But I still don’t understand why you’re not wearing the dress. I would love to bend you over in that dress or have you on my lap in my car in that dress.” I could see him getting wound up again.
“I don’t want to risk getting it dirty before the funeral,” I explained, as I picked up my jeans and slipped them on. I had brought my black pumps to wear with the dress, I decided they would dress up my outfit a little and give me confidence. I pulled the overnight bag out from under the bed, dug the pumps out and put them on. I added a dainty silver necklace and some silver hoop earrings, then checked my reflection one last time. I turned to him with my hands out, in a how do I look gesture. "Well?" I asked nervously.
“You look beautiful. They’re going to love you.” He smiled, I looked at his towel and raised an eyebrow, his blood flow situation hadn’t changed, so I grabbed my phone to head downstairs. I couldn’t help chuckling as I left him to figure out how to wrestle his erection into his jeans, I thought he might have a better chance without me around. I walked into the kitchen without checking it was empty first, I hadn’t heard the household staff come in, but they were all in there, it looked like they were getting their assignments from the woman called Kathy who had served the soup. I smiled bashfully at my interruption; it took me a moment to realise they weren’t going to continue without my say-so.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, I didn’t hear you come in.” I blushed when I noticed several of the women were looking at me oddly. “I’ll just wait in the living room.” I laughed, awkwardly, and turned to leave.
“No, Luna please, can we get you some coffee? Or something to eat?” Kathy asked.
“No, we are going to Ben’s, I mean Daniel’s brother’s, I mean.” I took a deep breath in a vain effort to calm myself and prevent another nervous bubble of nonsense from escaping my mouth as my face burned with embarrassment. “We are leaving soon to go to the Beta's house for coffee and I already had breakfast, thank you.” I heard Daniel come down the stairs and fled the kitchen towards him in the hope he would save me from myself.
“There you are, it’s still early. We don’t have to leave for another half an hour, so we have plenty of time for a bit more fun.” He teased, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me towards his chest possessively. I cringed and glanced at the kitchen where several of the staff had come out to look at their Alpha indulging in his playful side. He looked over his shoulder and grimaced, then turned back to me and planted a kiss on my forehead. “Coffee, instead then?” He huffed, as he smiled at me, but still with a mischievous look on his face.
“We are going to Ben’s for coffee!” I teased.
“Well, I’m having coffee, I would be in my third by now usually, but you provided such an entertaining show I couldn’t drag myself away!” I swatted his shoulder playfully while I giggled at his roaming hands.
“Fine, we will have coffee before we go.” I conceded, he took my hand and led me into the kitchen.
“Ladies,” he greeted them. “Could we get a couple of coffees Kathy?” He pulled a stool out from the island for me. I sat down my face still pink from the attention.
“Of course, Alpha. How would Luna like her coffee?” She asked with a slight bow, which made me even redder.
“A soya caramel latte.” He answered with a smile before I could open my mouth.
“Please,” I added, “or regular milk is fine!” I hated being a bother.
“It will just be a moment,” Kathy replied, she shooed the other women around the kitchen and the other staff out the door. Everyone was staring at me, Daniel included. I nudged him gently, making him guffaw. He leaned into me and kissed my lips; I could feel the eyes of every woman in the room on me, I exaggeratedly rolled my eyes towards them, alerting him to the situation.
“Don’t you have work to do?” He snapped, I frowned shaking my head slightly and nudging him again. “I know I shouldn’t get angry, but they shouldn’t disrespect you.” He frowned at me and stroked my cheek which just made me bristle.
“It’s not disrespect, it’s curiosity. Which you would understand if you put yourself in their shoes for a second!” I blushed violently, embarrassed by both my outburst and his rudeness towards his pack members. “I’m sorry-” I started to say as I turned towards them, the old woman beamed with pride at me, which took me off guard, another woman who looked to be in her fifties had tears in her eyes. I panicked, concerned I had offended her. I looked towards Daniel speechless, I had no idea what to say. He was beaming too, he looked at me like I had done something miraculous. “What?” I asked him, confused and uncomfortable with all the attention. He turned towards the staff.
“She’s going to be an amazing Luna, isn’t she?” He asked them, I looked at them still confused, the older woman was dabbing her eyes with a cloth while nodding along with everyone else. I was too stunned to say anything. Kathy jumped and started pottering with the barista-style coffee machine in the corner.
“You’re going to have to explain that to me later,” I whispered to him, as he smiled and kissed my cheek. Kathy quickly made my coffee first and placed it in front of me, Daniel looked shocked, but said nothing, again he looked at me like I had pulled off the impossible. “What?” I asked, I was getting frustrated.
“No, nothing. It’s just I’ve lived here my whole life, you’ve been here for less than a week and you’re their favourite already. I thought I had at least a month before that happened.” He mockingly grumbled, but I wasn’t buying it. I laughed at him but noticed Kathy was beet red and hurrying to get his drink prepared.
