BK 2 - Chapter 31 - Another Surprise

Kitty helped clean up from the party despite everyone telling her not to. She wasn't one that could sit back and watch other people work while she did nothing. Valerie walked over to her, holding a bag filled with birthday decorations. She liked the petite blonde with dark green eyes.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" Valerie asked her quietly.

"Yes, I still can't believe all of you did this for me. You and Roger are so kind, and allowing Aiden and me to stay here is more than I could ask for." Kitty returned Valerie's kind smile.

"We're happy to have all you kids here. Having this place to ourselves gets lonely, and no one ever stays in the pool house. As you know, we have no children, so we think of all of you as family. You can stay here as long as you want to." Kitty was still getting familiar with the word, want. She was used to only doing things she needed to survive, not what she wanted.

"Thank you. I will get started on some of your paintings right away. I've never been able to use an easel before. I can't wait to try it out." Valerie reached over and patted Kitty's hand. She cared for all four of the young people staying with them and was pleased they allowed her and Roger to be part of their lives.

"You're welcome, sweetie. I can't wait to see what you come up with." They continued putting the decorations in a large bag. Kitty wouldn't allow them to throw the decorations away; she said they could be used for future birthday parties.

It was starting to get dark when they were all done cleaning. After being up so early with Aiden, Kitty felt exhausted. She pulled her mate upstairs to their bedroom so they could get ready to shower before going to bed.

"I still can't get over that you guys planned this, and I had no idea." She looked down at the paper in her hand with her birth mother's information. Kitty had dreamt about getting this information for so long, but now that she had it, she wasn't sure she was ready to reach out to her.

"To be honest, it was easy because we could talk to each other in mindlink. Cat wanted to make sure to have all your favorites. She did a fantastic job putting this together while planning the wedding and closing on the house. I don't know how she has so much energy while pregnant too." Aiden kissed Kitty as she pulled out her blue satin pajamas that he loved.

"I know it's incredible. I spend a lot of time with her and Valerie planning the wedding, and Cat can run circles around me. I can't believe Trey found my birth mother or that she was so young when she had me. It does make a little more sense why she gave me up, but I still hurt about her not being in my life." She looked up at him, and he nodded his understanding.

"Yeah, I wonder what happened to her to have a child at that age and to be homeless. Whatever you decide to do with the information, I'll support you all the way." Aiden got a pair of boxers and a t-shirt from the dresser, but he didn't leave for the shower. He had something he wanted to do, but he was nervous he would mess it up.

"Are you ready to get a shower?" Kitty asked when she noticed him hesitating.

"Yes, but can you stay here for a minute?" She walked back into the room, confused by his expression. Kitty knew when he was shy about something, but this time he looked scared.

"Okay, what's wrong?"

"You know how much I love you, and I can't express how happy I am that you allowed me to mark you. I feel a connection with you that sometimes takes my breath away. Even growing up as a werelion, I never understood how powerful it is to find your mate. My sweet Kitty, you are the most beautiful, strongest, and kindest woman I have ever met. I just have one question for you." Kitty didn't know what to say as he got down on one knee.

"Kittana, will you do me the honor of being my wife as well as my mate?" Aiden was shaking as he pulled out the little white box and opened it.

Kitty put her hand over her mouth as tears fell from her eyes. Inside the box was a large heart-shaped diamond in a white gold setting. There were little rubies surrounding the heart. She realized the ring was identical to Cat's; only hers had sapphires instead of rubies.

Aiden was worried as Kitty stared at the ring, crying but not saying anything. Maybe it was too soon, and he should have waited before asking her to marry him. With all the wedding plans they'd been assisting with, he'd also decided he wanted her to have a wedding. He wanted to give her everything, but as she still stood frozen, he was scared she wasn't ready.

"Are you okay?" She napped out of the trance she'd been in as her entire life had been flashing before her eyes. All the heartache, pain, and years of rejection with no love until she met Aiden. Kitty looked at him and smiled through her tears.

"Yes, I'm okay, and yes, I'll marry you. I thought I was dreaming for a minute." She put her arms around him and cried, not believing this was happening.

"Honey, I feel like I'm dreaming every day I'm with you. Can I put the ring on your finger? Cat helped me pick it out. She said you had complimented hers and because you're sisters, she said it would be nice to have matching but unique rings. Do you like it?" Kitty pulled back, wiping her eyes as she looked at the ring in the box.

"I love it." She held her hand out, and Aiden slid the ring on her finger before standing up. "You know you didn't have to do this; I was happy with being your mate."

"I know, but I wanted to. I've seen how happy Trey and Cat are planning their wedding, and I want us to have that too." Harley was rolling around Aiden's head, laughing.

*"Kid, you should have let me propose. I wouldn't have sounded like a blubbering fool. You're lucky Kitty hasn't kicked you to the curb with all the mushy stuff you're always saying."*

*"If you keep doing that, you large furball, I'm not going to let you out when Kitty can shift into her lioness for the first time. Let's see how you act in front of her. I bet you'll be the blubbering fool, then. I hope she's a badass that brings you to your knees."* Harley whimpered and lay down. He could tell when Aiden had enough of his playing, and he wasn't going to do anything to mess up meeting his lioness.

"I don't know what to say, but I love you, and you've made all my dreams come true. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." She pulled his face to hers and kissed him aggressively. She was ready to rip off their clothes, but he stopped her.

"Before we do that, we need to go downstairs. Cat and Trey have been waiting to see if you would say yes." Kitty smiled as they headed to the door.

When they walked down the stairs, Cat and Trey were standing on either side. The couple threw confetti in the air as they reached the bottom. Kitty laughed as little pieces of brightly colored paper covered them.

"Congratulations! I assumed you said yes when I saw the ring on your finger." Cat hugged them both as they approached, followed by Trey.

"Thank you, and thank you for helping Aiden pick out the ring. It's beautiful." Kitty looked at her finger again and smiled.

"We have another present for you. Trey and I are staying at the main house tonight with Valerie and Roger. So you can have the house to yourself; I'm sure you have some celebrating to do." Cat held back her laugh when she saw both Aiden's and Kitty's faces turn red. Trey wasn't as kind; he threw his head back as he laughed loudly and slapped his brother on the shoulder.

"No need to be embarrassed. Cat and I celebrated a lot when I asked her to marry me. We're all packed up for the night, so we'll get out of your hair. Have fun, little brother." Trey laughed again as Aiden's face turned a deeper shade of red. Cat shook her head but giggled as they walked out of the house. She loved how cute Aiden and Kitty were together.

Aiden didn't waste any time; he was going to take advantage of an empty house. He lifted Kitty up and carried her upstairs to the bathroom. He started the shower, and they celebrated once under the water before celebrating in bed far into the next morning.

Otto and Tito were sitting outside on the street in front of the large blue victorian house. They had received information that Trey Galloway had recently purchased this house. The twins had been sitting in the car all night expecting someone to show up, but there had been nobody so far. They decided to go eat some breakfast, shower and come back.

Several hours later, they took up their place across the street from the house. Just as they pulled up, they saw Aiden's black car pulling out of the driveway. The twins looked at each other, not believing their luck. They decided to follow the vehicle to see where he was going. With the dark-tinted windows, they couldn't see if the girl was with him.

They followed Aiden to a well-to-do neighborhood in Granite Bay. When they saw him pull up to a gated house, they continued past as he stopped to put in the code. Tito watched the gate close behind the car and sighed.

"At least we know where they're staying. Now we just have to figure out a way to get them. I'm not too keen on breaking into a place like this; it would draw too much attention." He looked over at Otto, who was nodding.

"I agree. We'll find a place to sit near the main road so we can follow them when they leave. This area has too much security, and people notice strange vehicles." Otto turned the SUV around and headed back to the nearest main road. There was a small grocery store just down from the side street where the gated house was, so they pulled in and parked. It may be a long day, but they were willing to wait as long as needed.
