BK 2 - Chapter 14 - The Family

Kitty was lying on the blanket with her head resting on Aiden's outstretched arm. It was cool on top of the mountain, but his body heat kept her so warm she didn't feel cold.

"When you go to your parent's house, they'll let you leave to come back to me, won't they?" Kitty didn't like sounding insecure, but now that she had spent every minute with Aiden, even the thought of being away from him made her feel sad. She'd been alone most of her life and never allowed herself to depend on anyone, but he made her feel whole like he was what she'd been waiting for.

"They can't keep me away. Most likely, they'll barely acknowledge that I'm there. I'll pretend that I'm grabbing something from my room, ask about Trey and get out of there. I don't want to be there any longer than I have to." He pulled her against his chest and kissed her forehead.

Kitty had never felt safer than she did in Aiden's arms. She may not have been looking for someone to protect and save her, but that's exactly what he was doing.

They were both getting hungry, and the protein bars weren't enough, so they decided to leave the mountain. After Kitty put her clothes back on and they packed up everything, Aiden shifted into Harley. Kitty climbed onto his back, better prepared this time, and he took off running.

The trip back to the car took less time than going up the mountain. Once in the car, they drove toward the hotel stopping at a roadside restaurant overlooking the ocean to get something to eat. They both ate clam chowder with crusty french bread; it was delicious.

After they were done, they finished driving back to the hotel, and Aiden prepared to go to his parent's house. He was going to wait until the next day but decided to get it over with and hopefully get in touch with Trey.

Kitty was nervous about being alone but knew Aiden finding his brother was what they needed more than anything. If he didn't help them, Kitty thought it best if she continued to stay hidden and not come forward. The FBI could do whatever they needed and leave her out of it.

"I promise I won't be long. Stay in the room, and don't let anyone in. I love you."

"I love you too. Hurry, back." She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down so she could kiss him.

She watched him leave and had never felt more alone in her life. She didn't know what to do while she waited, so she decided to take advantage of the large bathtub. She ran some hot water and added some of the complementary bubbles. Kitty leaned back and soaked, trying not to worry about Aiden.

Aiden drove to his parent's house nervously, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel. He felt as though he'd left his heart in the hotel with Kitty, and he wanted to get back as quickly as possible. He would consider himself lucky if none of his siblings with their snooty mates were there.

He and Trey had been the only ones who hadn't found their mates, and he wondered if that was because they were different than their siblings. He was thankful that Kitty was a human. Aiden understood her hesitation about letting him mark her and couldn't blame her. The shifter world was new to her, and she would be making a life-changing decision.

As he pulled up to his parent's house, he groaned. Several other cars were in the driveway, and he could only assume they belonged to his sisters and brother. He still planned on being in and out as quickly as possible.

He looked up at the large three-story white oceanfront house. Aiden had grown up in that house, but it never felt like home when he was there. He felt like a guest that the rest of the occupants tolerated.

He reached for the door handle just as the large double wooden door opened, and his sister Daniella with her mate Chip walked out. They didn't even acknowledge Aiden as they brushed past him and went to their car. He figured that was one less couple he would have to deal with.

He walked into the house and heard people talking in the family room. Aiden ran upstairs and grabbed a few things from his room before saying anything to the others. He pulled out a duffle bag from his closet and filled it with clothes. He didn't need them, but it would be his excuse for coming to the house.

After he had everything he wanted, he headed back downstairs. His brother Reece noticed him coming down and walked over to meet him as he descended the last few steps. Reece was taller than Aiden, with light brown hair and blue eyes.

"What are you doing here, little brother? We thought you were still in San Francisco." Aiden thought quickly before answering.

"I was, just came back to get a few things. Has anyone heard from Trey recently?" He wanted to get to the point so he could leave with the least amount of interactions possible.

"No, he's still pretending to be human in Sacramento. I don't know why he bothers. Humans are nothing. We're so much better than they are in looks and class. Trey shouldn't even breathe the same air they do." Aiden felt rage wash over him. Kitty was human and better than all of them.

"I disagree. I think humans have their value. Besides, Trey is free to do what he wants and if he prefers the company of humans over a bunch of well-to-do righteous werelions, who can blame him." He challenged Reece, drawing the attention of those in the other room who made their way to the brothers.

"Aiden, I didn't know you were here. Can't you stay for dinner?" Gina walked over to her son and kissed the air next to his cheek. She had her golden brown hair up in a twist and was wearing a pink silk outfit that made her look like she was from another decade.

"Nope, I just came by to grab a few things and to see if anyone knows how to get in touch with Trey." He started pushing past his mother, father, Reece, and Reece's mate Twila making his way to the front door.

"Son, we haven't heard from Trey since he left the last time a few years ago. None of us has his phone number either. What do you want with him?" Thomas looked at his youngest child questionably.

"Nothing, in particular. I just wanted to see how he was doing. Well, I think I'll take off now." Twila stepped in front of him before he could reach the door.

"My sister is in town and hasn't found her mate yet. We thought maybe you would like to meet her." Twila was as cunning as a snake, and Aiden couldn't stand her false sweetness. She was about five eight with curly black hair and light brown eyes. She was beautiful on the outside, but once she opened her mouth, the beauty quickly faded away.

"No thanks, I'm waiting for my fated mate. I'll see you all later." Aiden ran out the front door and jumped into his car before they could say anything else.

The group watched him leave, and Gina couldn't help but feel a little sad. Trey and Aiden were the two most independent of her five children, but she wished they would spend more time at home. Being around those humans was starting to affect their way of thinking. She would do everything she could to ensure they both mate to fine upstanding women in the werelion community. No one else would do.

Kitty got out of the bathtub and put on one of her new lotions that had a light floral smell. Even though it was still early, she slipped into a one-piece nightie with matching panties. She wanted to cheer Aiden up when he got back and hoped this would do it.

The nightie was black satin with red lace along the edges. It was sleeveless and only long enough to reach the top of her thighs. The front had a red ribbon to tie it closed at her breasts. There was a slit up the front from the bottom to where the ribbon was tied, leaving very little to the imagination. The panties were a red lace thong.

Kitty felt a little silly sitting on the bed wearing what she had on, but she bought the sexy lingerie more for Aiden than herself. Based on his reaction yesterday, he liked her wearing that stuff too.

When she heard the key card, she quickly lay across the bed. She held her head up with one hand and pulled the nightie apart a little so he could see the panties.

Aiden walked into the room and saw Kitty lying on the bed. Everything he had wanted to say left his mind as he stared at her. His pants were getting very uncomfortable as he looked at her in that nightie with her hair thrown over her shoulder, cascading over her chest.

"Welcome home." Kitty laughed as Aiden stood there staring at her, still holding his bag with the door open. "You may want to close the door before someone walks by and sees me like this. It's for your eyes only."

He quickly shut the door and threw his bag onto the floor. All the worry he had felt that something happened to Kitty while he was away left. She was here waiting on him in the best way possible. He slowly made his way over to the bed, moving his eyes over her body.

"You uh, I uh, what." He couldn't think straight, so his words were coming out in a jumbled mess.

"I figured you would need something to make you feel better after seeing your family, so I wanted to surprise you." Kitty slowly got onto her knees and crawled over to the side of the bed where he was standing. She took his hand and pulled him over to wrap her arms around his neck and press her body against his.

"This is exactly what I needed, my beautiful mate." Aiden leaned down and kissed her hard. He was making up for the time they were apart; even though it was only a little over an hour, it had felt like days. When he pulled away, they were both breathless.

"Why don't you join me. I think I need to be unwrapped again." Kitty lay on the bed and let her nightie fall open so only her breasts were covered where the ribbon was tied. Aiden quickly shed his clothes and got into bed. Everything else could wait until later; he wanted to unwrap his mate.
