BK 2 - Chapter 65 - Rocky Moon
Two weeks after returning from Monterey, Kitty and Aiden were going to Colorado for Gracies' birthday. Kitty was excited to see her family again after all the chaos of the last few months. They had decided to drive the sixteen hours rather than fly. It would give them the opportunity to enjoy the scenery.
They stopped in Salt Lake City to eat some lunch after driving for about eight hours with nothing more than a few quick breaks. Aiden pulled into the parking lot of a small diner that Kitty had pointed out. She preferred the smaller places rather than the large chain restaurants. After they sat down, she turned to him with a bright smile.
"I can't believe we're here right now. I've never been outside of California. Thank you for agreeing to drive, even though it would have been a lot faster to fly." She looked at the menu as the young waitress came over, fluttering her eyelashes at Aiden. Kitty couldn't believe how shameless some women were when men were clearly with someone else.
"I'll have the B.L.T. with fries and a strawberry milkshake. Honey, what will you have?" Kitty asked Aiden with a sweet smile.
"I'll have the same as my beautiful fiance." He said, taking her hand across the table. The waitress turned red with jealousy but refused to give up. This man was the most handsome she had ever seen, and she was determined to get his attention. She leaned over, putting her impressive cleavage in his eye line, and gave a flirty smile.
"Can you please repeat that, sir? Maybe you would like to come to the back and sample something fresh." She tried to put her chest closer to him, and Aiden looked at her in disgust, making the woman's smile falter.
"I'm here with my fiance, trying to enjoy lunch, and you keep trying to push yourself on me. If this is how people act in this establishment, I think I'll take my money elsewhere. If you don't get away from us right now, I will ask to speak with your manager." Aiden spoke loudly, and the other patrons overheard. Everyone looked at the waitress as she ran to the back, crying. An older woman came over to the table in a hurry.
"I'm sorry for Tonya's behavior. Please let me take your order, and I'll wait on you for the rest of your meal." Aiden thanked the woman and repeated their order.
"You can't really blame her. With the way you look, I'm sure many women want you, but they don't dare to approach you." He shook his head and stood up, walking to the other side of the booth. He squeezed in next to Kitty putting his arm around her shoulders.
"Well, let's make sure everyone knows we're both taken." He brought his mouth to hers and kissed her deeply, letting his tongue play with hers. They continued even when the waitress brought over their milkshakes. When they pulled apart, they were breathless.
"I think that left no doubt in anyone's mind," Kitty said softly, still dazed by that possessive kiss. Aiden pulled her against him as they began sipping their milkshakes. Their food came soon after, and they finished their meal without any interruptions. Once in the car, they drove the remaining eight hours to the pack lands just outside of Denver.
Sandie, Max, and the kids waited anxiously for Kitty and Aiden. They lived on pack grounds close to the pack house because Max was the head warrior. The pack was the largest in the area, and he was well respected among the members of the Rocky Moon Pack.
Their first few months weren't smooth when he met Sandie and brought her back as his mate. Some members didn't like that their head warrior mated to a human. However, once he told them if they didn't accept her, he would leave the pack, they quickly came around. Now everyone loved and respected her.
The pack was aware that Sandie's daughter was coming for a visit and that she and Aiden were werelions. At first, there were some who were worried about letting lions on the grounds. Max reassured them that Kitty and Aiden were safe, and he trusted them with his life. After what happened in Sacramento, he had no doubt about what type of people they were.
Max received a mindlink from the guards that the lions had arrived. It was getting late, but everyone gathered around, wanting to see the newcomers. As the black car pulled up, Gracie and Wesley ran over when it came to a stop.
Kitty and Aiden stepped out of the car and looked around in amazement. There were hundreds of pack members standing around, making them feel like a spectacle.
"Kitty, I'm so glad you're here." Gracie hugged her tight while Wesley tried to hold back a little, not wanting to embarrass himself. Kitty hugged Gracie and then went over to Wesley and hugged him. He tried to hide his smile as he hugged her back.
"You guys look even bigger than I remember," Kitty said to the two kids. Aiden walked over and hugged them as well. The group headed over to where Sandie and Max were waiting with smiles.
"Kitty and Aiden, welcome to the Rocky Moon Pack. Many of the pack members are here to welcome you." Max said, indicating everyone staring at the couple in awe. Most had never met a werelion.
"Thank you all for your hospitality. We look forward to meeting you and seeing your pack lands." Kitty smiled at the pack members, and many returned her smile.
Sandie ran over and hugged her daughter with tears in her eyes. She had missed her these past few months and was glad to know she was safe from those who had been after her. She then gave Aiden a hug. Max hugged them and then led them up the steps where four people were waiting.
"This is Alpha Archer, Luna Joleen, Beta Braden, and his mate Paige." Max made the introductions as the couple approached.
"It's nice to meet you. Thank you for allowing us to visit." Aiden said as they all shook hands.
"It's our pleasure. I'm sure you've noticed the pack doesn't have many visitors that aren't other wolves, so they're excited to meet you. Please make yourselves at home and let us know if you need anything." Alpha Archer spoke with a deep booming voice. He was an impressive man that was a few inches taller than Aiden, with tanned skin, black hair, and eyes so dark they looked black.
The Luna was tall and thin with shoulder-length dark brown hair, skin a lighter tan than her mates, and dark green eyes. They didn't look more than thirty, but it was hard to tell with the slower aging of shifters.
"Thank you, Alpha and Luna. This is our first visit to a pack, and we can't wait to meet everyone." Kitty smiled at the remarkable couple. Even though they had no authority over her and Aiden, she used their titles as a sign of respect.
"We're going to take them to our house, but we'll be sure to join everyone for breakfast at the pack house in the morning," Max spoke loudly so everyone could hear. He didn't want to overwhelm the two young people right away. Everyone started breaking up and going into the pack house or to their homes, but they kept stealing glances at the two lions.
"Please don't feel like you're on display." Paige walked over to the couple with a smile. She was not much taller than Kitty, with curly blonde hair and dark blue eyes. She had an infectious, bubbly nature that automatically put others at ease. Her mate Beta Bradon was about the same size as Aiden, with tanned skin, black hair, and dark brown eyes.
"We're a bit unfamiliar being around so many shifters other than my brother and his mate," Aiden said while sliding his arm around Kitty. They were feeling more relaxed now that not so many eyes were on them.
"It's understandable with lions not having packs like us wolves. We won't hold you up. Go get settled, and we'll see you tomorrow at breakfast." Beta Bradon smiled at the young couple. The pack wanted to make a good impression on the lion's first visit. It wouldn't hurt to be able to call in lion reinforcements in the future if needed.
Max and Sandie helped with the luggage and led them down the main road to their house. It wasn't that far, so they decided to leave Aiden's car parked at the pack house. As they walked, they took in the surroundings.
All the houses looked like cabins. There were a few pack members milling around, but almost everyone had returned home. When they had reached the fourth house from the pack house, they walked up the sidewalk to a large two-story cabin.
Max opened the door and let them in. Kitty looked around in amazement. Everything was wood, continuing the cabin feel. The large living room had light brown leather furniture, a coffee table, and two end tables. A couple of bright-colored blankets were thrown over the back of the sofa. There was a nice-sized dining room right off the large kitchen.
"I love this," Kitty said softly as she looked around. It seemed so warm and inviting. She felt a little misty-eyed thinking about how it would have been growing up here as a child.
Sandie noticed her expression and could imagine what she was thinking. She had thought many times how she would have loved having Kitty with her. She walked over to her daughter and put her arms around her. No matter how old Kitty was when they reunited, Sandie would still consider this her home.
"I'm glad you like it. Welcome home."
