BK 5 - Chapter 67 - The Battle
Emma, Roger, Asher, Mariam, Petra, Isla, Lidia, Pricilla, and the three dragons moved to the front of the group. Penelope was still on Roger's shoulders. He wouldn’t let her get down because he was afraid she would go after Leviathan herself.
“As you can see, I have an army here to defeat you. It's time for the underworld to take over Earth. You do-gooders have been here long enough.” He yelled at them. Many members of the family began shifting into their animals to prepare for the fight.
“What’s your plan? If you eliminate us, there are still millions more on Earth. Do you think killing off our family will end everyone?” Emma yelled back at him. Leviathan smiled evilly.
“You don’t understand the power you were given. With the magic of Atzi, you are the only ones who can possibly come close to stopping us. Other shifters, vampires, witches and everyone else can’t touch us. We targeted you because you’re the biggest threat.” He replied.
Roger and Emma looked at each other. They had been preparing for this their entire lives. They knew that not everyone may make it out alive. If they could save their family by sacrificing themselves, they would. Just like Atzi and Xipil had done. Asher took Emma’s hand and Mariam took Rogers. All four of them had discussed the possibility that they may not survive. If it came to that, all four of them would die together. Roger took Penelope off his shoulders and handed her to Trey. He knew she would listen to her grandpa more than anyone else.
“Stay with your grandparents, princess.” He said, kissing her head.
“I have to fight, too. Silver said I do.” She argued.
“You’ll get your chance. I’m sure of it.” Trey said as he held onto her. Roger and the others moved closer to Leviathan and his men.
“So, how is this going to go down? Your men attack, we kill them all so you're the only one left standing, then you finish off the rest of us?” Roger asked.
“How else would you suggest? No need for me to get my hands dirty when I have all of these men. By the time they’re done with your family, I will only have a few leftovers to deal with.” He said in a low voice. Roger and Emma looked at Cat and Trey, who nodded. They would take over speaking now so the others could shift.
All the shifters finished shifting. Dexter and Raylee moved to stand next to their shifter cousins. Raylee was a new vampire but she was fast as hell and strong. She would do everything she could to protect her new family. All the newly mated were able to shift and were next to their mates except for Johnny. His dragon hadn’t come yet, but he could already breathe fire.
“Our family will not allow that to happen. What you don’t understand is that fighting is only a small part of what makes someone strong. Just because you have a powerful punch or magic doesn’t make you mighty. There's so much more that you need and until you understand that, it will be your downfall.” Cat spoke quietly but knew he could hear her. He grinned at her.
“That’s where you’re wrong. My only downfall will be letting you live a moment longer,” Leviathan raised his hands in the air and his men ran toward the family. At the same time, they ran toward the men. The dragons and Lidia flew into the air. None of Leviathan’s men could fly, so the dragons swooped down and chomped the heads off as many of them as they could. Lidia used her power to send balls of fire onto the men causing them to burst into flames.
The shifters showed no fear about attacking the men from the underworld. They tore pieces off of them and removed their limbs, but it wasn’t enough. They kept coming.
Petra and Isla tried to use their magic to make the men fall to their knees in pain but it only worked on a few. Karalee and Liam used their Kangaroo strength to kick men up to the waiting mouths of the dragons.
Emma, Roger, Asher, and Mariam had one target in mind: Leviathan. If they could get to him, then it would all be over. They ran through the men, killing them as they went. When Leviathan saw they were coming for him, he moved further away. His men were supposed to kill the ones with the witch's magic before anyone else. He didn't understand why no one could stop them. When he looked around, he didn’t like what he saw. His men were dying. The werelion family had a few injured, but they were still going strong.
“Why are you running? Are you scared?” Penelope yelled at him.
Joel, Teegan, and a few other lycans leaped in front of Leviathan and quickly killed the men he was trying to use as a barrier. Sherri, Shaun, Krystal, and Simon worked together to take out as many men as they could to keep them away from Cat and Trey. Everyone worked well together.
“I’m not scared you little roach.” He yelled at Penelope. Leviathan didn’t know why he kept bickering with the pup, but something about her scared him more than the others. She was nothing more than a pup and he was a demon. So why was he concerned about her? She may have a little magic but it couldn't do anything to him.
“You’re going to regret saying that, you old toad. When my family is done with you, all that’s going to be left are your warts.” Penelope wanted to get out of Grandpa Trey’s arms and fight, but Silver told her it wasn’t time yet. She was waiting for something and would tell her when it was her turn.
Emma, Roger, and their mates finally reached the demon. They stopped about ten yards from him. They shifted back to humans so they could speak. The lycans took care of anyone who tried to come after them.
“It looks like you’re losing,” Roger said, looking behind him at all the dead men. He was thankful he didn’t see any of their family lying on the ground, but he couldn’t be sure until they were done.
“I’m not losing. I have you right where I want you.” Leviathan threw his head back and laughed. Emma and Roger began saying the spell to end him. Mariam and Asher joined in as Petra and Isla came over to help the lycans keep the other men away from the four of them.
“It’s not going to work. I have protected myself from you. You're missing a key part to be able to kill me.” Even as he spoke, Leviathan could feel himself burning from the inside. He had prepared for it to hurt, but not so badly. He took a deep breath and shook his head.
“It looks like it’s working,” Petra said, watching his face twist in pain as she broke the neck of one of his men.
“It’s not enough to kill me though.” He yelled. Everyone looked up when they heard a loud gust of wind. There was a tiny tornado above them.
“Penelope," Cat yelled as they all ran toward her. She continued spinning in the air and when she reached Leviathan she stopped.
“It’s time to kill the toad.” She said, pulling out two lightning bolts. He laughed and shook his head.
“You can’t kill me,” He yelled at her. Penelope raised her hands holding lightning bolts in the air.
“Watch me.” She said as she released them. Leviathan laughed and rose in the air as the lightning bolts hit him in the chest. There was a loud boom and a bright flash of light that sent everyone flying to the ground except for Penelope. No one was moving from either side. Penelope looked at her family lying on the ground and started crying as she landed on her feet.
“Noooooo. Only he was supposed to die, not you guys.”
