BK 4 - Chapter 35 - Wins and Losses

**Roseville California**

"So, Ryan, what do you want to do?" Jade asked, fluttering her eyelashes like Lisa taught her. She couldn't believe the moron was buying her act. She wasn't even trying that hard. He smiled at her and pulled her against him. She wanted to laugh when he tried to rub his barely there erection against her. Jade didn't think he should be trying to brag about the jolly rancher in his pants.

"I want to fuck you until you call my name." Jade bit her lip to hold back her laughter, but Ryan took it as her being flirtatious. She was done with the prick. She wrapped her arms around his neck and put her mouth next to his ear.

"That's never going to happen, you pathetic asshole." Jade brought her knee up into his groin while pulling out her phone. Ryan fell to the ground screaming in pain.

"Dad, can you and Uncle Trey come to Miner's Ravine. I have a piece of shit here that needs to be talked to." Jade kicked Ryan in the face when he tried to stand up.

"Jade, what did you do?" Thatcher asked, grabbing Trey as they ran to the door.

"Nothing bad I just decided to scrape some scum off my shoe, that's all." She hung up, knowing they were on the way.

"You stupid bitch you're going to pay for that." Ryan tried to stand up, but Jade punched him in the gut, making him vomit.

"The only bitch I see here is you." Jade turned around just as her dad came to her side, followed by Trey.

"What's going on?" Thatcher asked, surprised to see Ryan bleeding and sick on the ground.

"I saw how you and Uncle Trey looked at this jackass and his whore, so I followed them to a hotel. I eavesdropped and heard them talking about kidnapping one of us since they couldn't get Aunt Cat." Jade moved out of Trey's way as he grabbed Ryan by the shirt collar.

"You were there to kidnap my wife?" He said, squeezing his shirt so tight around his neck his face was turning red.

"I…we…uh…they told us that we had to stop you freaks from making or using any laws to protect yourselves so you could still be hunted," Ryan said as he peed his pants. He forgot how strong Trey was.

"Who put you up to this, and why kidnap Cat?" Trey asked, feeling rage like he hadn't felt in a long time.

"I don't know his name, but he reached out to Tori and me because he knew we had once lived in the group home. He offered a lot of money if we could stop Roger from making laws to protect your kind. We were going to take Cat to make Lisa and Alex stop working on what Roger started." Ryan realized he'd said too much when he saw all three of them look at him with fury.

"What did you do to stop Roger?" Trey asked with his hand shaking. It was taking everything in him not to let Atlas kill Ryan.

"We didn't do anything, but someone else did. It wasn't a coincidence that he started getting sicker. He was old, so it wasn't surprising that he died." Ryan regretted the words as soon as they were out of his mouth.

"What are we going to do with him, Uncle Trey? He tried to touch me too." Jade said, crossing her arms. Thatcher grabbed Ryan from Trey.

"You tried to touch my seventeen-year-old daughter?" He yelled in the man's face.

"She wanted it," Ryan said, looking at Jade. Thatcher threw him against a tree, where he fell to the ground unconscious.

"Let's take him to the house. We need to get to the bottom of this. Jade, where are they staying? We need to get Tori too." Trey looked at Jade, who smiled up at him. He loved his niece. She was still young and already one of the strongest women in the family.

"Do you want me to get her?" Jade asked. Trey couldn't help chuckling.

"Take your dad with you. I'll take care of Ryan." He kissed Jade's forehead and watched her run off with Thatcher. This generation was truly remarkable. He looked back at Ryan and sighed. Throwing him over his shoulder, he walked out of the park. When a few people looked at him in shock, he decided he better say something to them so they didn't call the police.

"I think he was attacked. I'm taking him to the hospital. It's quicker than waiting for an ambulance." They nodded as he continued to the car. Throwing Ryan in the back, he drove home. He pulled up just as Thatcher and Jade arrived with an unconscious Tori with a bloody nose.

"I take it she didn't come willingly." He asked. Jade smiled and shook her head.

"I didn't give her a chance to decline our invitation. As soon as she opened the door, I punched her and knocked her out." She said, shrugging before running into the house.

"I don't know what I'm going to do with her," Thatcher said as they carried Ryan and Tori inside.

"Nothing. She's perfect as she is. I just hope her mate is up for the challenge because Jade isn't one to let a man walk all over her," Trey said quietly. Cat and Janel were waiting for them as soon as they walked inside.

"Jade told us what happened. I can't believe they thought they could kidnap me. Did they forget I'm a lion? They wouldn't have gotten me out the front door." They sat the couple on chairs and tied them so they wouldn't fall off while they were unconscious.

"What are you going to do with them?" Janel asked.

"We're going to see what information they can give us about who's behind this. From what they said, Roger may have been murdered." They all turned when they heard a gasp.

"What?" Valerie asked with tears running down her face. Trey put an arm around her and told her what Ryan had disclosed.

Ryan hurt all over, and when he tried to open his eyes, he wanted to scream from the pain. His head hurt, and the light felt like it was piercing his brain. He tried to move and realized he was tied to a chair. Everything that had happened came rushing back, and he forced his eyes open. When he saw who greeted him, he felt like crying. He turned and saw Tori looking at him with wide eyes. This was not how this was supposed to go down. At that moment, he knew they were going to die.

*"Dustin, wake up. We need to check our mate."* Dustin groaned as he tried to move. His body hurt in places he didn't think was possible.

*"We have to check Breanne now. The truck hit her side of the car."* When he heard what Nelo said, his eye flew open, and he was greeted with nothing but horror. Breanne was covered in blood, and her body looked broken. The truck had hit on her side but mostly in the back. However, the impact caused Breanne to be pinned in a way that looked like it was impossible for her to survive.

"Breanne? Breanne? Please wake up?" Dustin tried to feel for a pulse in her neck, but his hands weren't steady enough to feel if anything was there. He looked up and saw the man that hit them getting out of the truck.

"Call an ambulance." He screamed. The man nodded and pulled out his phone.

"Breanne, please answer me. I can't lose you. Please, Breanne, please." Dustin had tears streaming down his face as he continued to search for her pulse. He kept calling her name over and over, but she didn't respond. He couldn't tell if she was breathing through his sobs.

He didn't know how long it had been, but it felt like hours before the ambulance and fire truck arrived. They said they needed to use the jaws of life to get Breanne out, so they made Dustin get out first. He refused any treatment for his wounds. All he wanted was to make sure Breanne was alright.

It didn't take them long to crack open the car and pull her out. Once she was lying on the gurney, the EMTs began working on her. Dustin took her lifeless hand in his and felt his hope fading. Breanne's body looked too damaged for her to be alive. He began sobbing loudly when he heard them say they were getting ready to shock her.

"You have to let go of her hand, son," One of the men said. Dustin did and fell to his knees in despair as they shocked her and began performing CPR. He howled with pain as they continued to repeat the process.

"No, please, Breanne. Please wake up. I love you so much; please, sweetheart, come back to me." The EMTs shocked her again, and when nothing happened, they looked down, afraid to meet his eyes.

"We're sorry. She's gone." Dustin screamed as his heart felt like it was being ripped from his chest.
