Chapter 14 - First Kiss
Trey couldn't believe it when Cat moved against him and laid her head on his chest. He was afraid to breathe, or he might wake up from this dream. He wrapped his arms around her holding her tight, and she snuggled closer.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked as she looked at him with a smile.
"Of course." She ran her hand over his abdomen and chest as Atlas' purring got louder.
"Was introducing you to Atlas what changed everything? Yesterday you were terrified of me touching you. Today, you're not scared at all. I'm not complaining. I just want to make sure I don't do anything to mess this up." Trey was almost scared to bring up how she had changed in one day.
Cat thought about what he said, and she didn't know why it felt like something had snapped in her when he said he was a lion. It was like she had been lost all these years and finally found what she had been searching for. She hadn't realized it was in the form of a werelion.
"I don't know how to explain it, even to myself. When you told me about Atlas, there was something inside of me that broke free. I'm no longer scared of touching you or of you touching me. That doesn't mean I'm completely healed. If someone else touched me, it would have the same effect as before. Something is pulling me to you, telling me this is right and how it should be. Does that sound crazy?" Cat sat up on her knees to look down at him. She kept her hand on his chest to feel the rumbling coming from inside.
"That doesn't sound crazy at all. You'll understand more when I tell you what it means to be a shifter." Trey brought his hand up and lightly rubbed Cat's cheek. It was impossible for him to believe he could touch her without seeing fear in her eyes.
"Can you sit up for a minute? I want to try something." Trey sat up with his back against the headboard of the bed like she'd asked.
"What is it?"
She didn't say anything but slowly crawled closer to him. Cat took a deep breath to see if she could do this. She'd thought about it since she first saw him in the hospital. She wanted Trey to kiss her.
"Will you kiss me? I've never kissed anyone, but I want to kiss you." Cat ran her hand over his chest and abdomen lightly. She could feel his heart rate getting stronger under her hand.
"Are you sure? I have wanted to kiss you since the first time I saw you, but I don't want you to do anything you're not ready for. I know this has been a lot to take in." Trey was rambling, but he could only think about kissing her beautiful lips.
"Stop trying to talk me out of it." Cat climbed onto his lap so she was straddling him. She was nervous but excited. She never thought she would be able to kiss anyone with her history. The purring got louder the closer she got to him.
Trey was suddenly the one unsure. Cat was sitting on his lap, and he was aware that not many clothes were separating them. If he kissed her in this position, she might get a surprise she wasn't expecting. On the other hand, she hadn't been shy when he was standing in front of her with no clothes on a little while ago.
Cat watched Trey's face, and she knew he was hesitant for her benefit, but she wanted this. She scooted up on his lap until she was as close to him as she could get. She wrapped her arms around his neck and waited.
Trey stared into Cat's blue eyes, making sure he saw no fear or doubt. She stared back at him and smiled.
She didn't know why she felt fearless, but she did. After how she had acted in the short time they'd been together, his doubt was expected.
"Please kiss me. I really want to kiss you, but I don't know how. I need you to teach me. My body is reacting to you in a way I don't understand, but I know I need to kiss you. I want to feel your hands on me, Trey." Cat put her forehead against his while she begged him.
Trey still couldn't move. His mate, who had tried to push him away from the fear of his touch, was now begging him to touch her and kiss her. He thought he was the one dreaming.
*"If you don't pull it together and kiss our mate, I'll take over and kiss her for the both of us. She is asking you to do what you have wanted for weeks. Why are you not jumping at this chance?"* Atlas was confused about Trey's reaction.
*"I'm scared that if I kiss her, she'll snap out of whatever has changed her. I don't want her to think I took advantage of her. Cat is more fragile than she thinks, and I don't want to break her any more than those other bastards have already done."* Trey couldn't stand the thought of hurting her in any way.
"What were you doing just then? You had this funny look in your eyes like you weren't here." Cat still had her arms around his neck and was playing with his silky blonde hair. She started running her fingers along the back of his neck. She felt him shiver against her, and she smiled.
"I was talking to Atlas. We can talk to our animals by mindlink. We can also talk to others in our pride through mindlink." Trey spoke softly while trying to control the sensations that Cat was sending through his body by playing with his hair and neck.
"What did Atlas say? Hopefully, he told you to kiss me already and stop making me think you changed your mind about how you feel." She felt a little glimmer of fear that Trey didn't want her anymore.
"Of course, I haven't changed my mind about you. I want to be with you more than anything, but I don't want to hurt you." Trey put his arms around Cat and held her against him in a hug. If she didn't get upset with them holding each other like this, he would kiss her.
She wrapped her arms around him and held him back. She shimmied even closer, and her movements on his lap almost made him groan. She was making this very hard to keep himself under control.
"You won't hurt me, I promise." Cat wrapped her legs around him and held him tighter, showing him that she was okay. She rubbed her hands up and down his back taking comfort in the warmth of his skin. Atlas was purring loudly, and with Cat wrapped around Trey like she was, she could feel the rumbling through her whole body. She nuzzled her face into Trey's neck and took a deep breath.
He couldn't take it anymore. He had to feel her soft lips against his, but he would take it slowly. Trey pulled away from Cat a little and looked into her eyes.
Cat's heart started racing when she realized Trey was finally going to kiss her. She wasn't scared; she was excited. This would be her first kiss, and with the electricity that Trey had already caused in her body, she knew it would be phenomenal.
Trey leaned forward and lightly put his lips against Cats. Neither of them was expecting the sparks and heat that flooded their bodies as soon as their lips touched. Trey started moving his mouth over hers slowly at first. She followed his lead and moved her mouth with his.
When Trey felt Cat respond and kiss him back, he ran his tongue over her lips before plunging it into her mouth. She gasped in surprise but didn't pull back. She felt his tongue exploring her mouth and tasting her. Cat moved her tongue to stroke his, and she felt him groan with pleasure.
She ran her hands up and down Trey's back, rubbing his smooth, warm skin. Trey slid his hands under Cat's shirt and caressed the silky soft skin of her back while still exploring her mouth. He wasn't expecting this overwhelming feeling throughout his whole body from kissing her.
Her lips were soft and gentle while her tongue aggressively stroked his. He brought one of his hands from under her shirt and reached down to stroke the thigh of her leg that was wrapped around him. Trey wanted to feel all of her, but he held himself back from going further.
Cat, on the other hand, was not being shy. She had never felt so many sensations all at once. Her skin tingled everywhere Trey touched her. She ran her hands over every piece of skin she could reach while their lips and tounges were still going to work. She put her hands up into his hair and held his mouth tightly to hers.
When they both needed air, Trey pulled back from Cat's mouth and gave her light kisses all over her face. He was still caressing her soft skin and knew that if they didn't stop, he would have trouble controlling his growing erection.
"I guarantee that was the best first kiss in the history of kissing. You are an extremely skilled kisser. So I want to know how many other women you've been with, and are you planning to leave me after you find Leo? I don't want to start something with you if you aren't going to be with me after the case is over. I can't go through the heartache of having these feelings for you if you aren't planning on staying with me." Cat was looking into his eyes so he could see she was serious.
He didn't know how hard it was for her to say this to him and admit that she wanted more than something casual. Cat had never had a relationship, sex by choice, or the desire to do either. With Trey, she could already see she was falling for him. She was terrified, but that didn't stop her from wanting him.
"I've kissed a few women, but it never felt like it did with you just now. I've had sex before too, but Atlas and I weren't pleased with those women because we wanted our true mate. You're my mate. I want you and no one else. When we first saw your picture, Atlas knew that you were our mate, and I knew I would do anything to have you. I will never hurt you, Cat. Don't be scared to trust me with your heart. I promise to guard it and keep it safe for the rest of my life." Trey watched her expression and rubbed his hands on her back.
"I have one more question. What do you mean when you say that I'm your mate?" Cat's eyes were raised in question.
Her heart felt like it would burst from what Trey had said, but she was confused about what he meant when he said she was his mate. Atlas started purring, and Cat smiled while leaning down to kiss Trey's chest where the purring was coming from.
"That kiss was for you, Atlas. I think it's time we had that talk before things go any further, don't you?" Cat looked into his eyes, and he let out a sigh of relief. She wasn't running from him yet. Trey knew it was time to explain what it meant to be a supernatural being.
"Okay, let me tell you about the world you live in and what this means for us."
