BK 3 - Chapter 45 - Thankful for Witches
Vilma and the other witches arrived at the address Wesley had given them at the same time as the vampires who came on foot. They stayed hidden when they noticed something wasn't right. A man pulled up in a large black SUV with tinted windows. He was carrying something in his hand. Vilma gasped when she saw him slide the gas mask over his face.
"We have to move. They're going to kill my family." She and the other witches flew to the roof while the vampires ran and jumped onto it. There were about thirty of them in all, so they spread out, looking for whatever was going to be released on the unsuspecting people inside.
One of the vampires found a vent with a large machine attached. When they heard people screaming from inside, Vilma knew she had run out of time. She quickly placed a spell on the device so that whatever was inside wouldn't hurt anyone; it would only make them go to sleep.
"Alright, let's go save our family," Vilma said, leading everyone to the ground. They covered all entrances. She entered the front door and saw the man with the mask leaning over Melanie and Cat. Flying over to him, she pulled his mask off while blowing some of her sleeping powder in his face. He fell to the ground before he had time to react.
The other witches and vampires rounded up the men outside. They pulled them all inside, tied them up, and put them to sleep. Just as they finished with the men, the others began to wake up.
"What happened?" Saxon asked, looking around, confused. The last thing he remembered was a man with a gas mask and a heavy fog. He saw Melanie lying next to him, still sleeping. Vilma walked over and sat next to him on the floor.
"Someone tried to poison all of you. We arrived just in time to make sure all it did was put you to sleep. We have all the men tied up in the corner." Saxon looked to where Vilma was pointing and had to smile. After hog tieing them, they had piled the men on top of each other.
"Perfect. I'm glad you're on our side. You scare me a little bit." He said to the witch, who chuckled.
"I get that a lot. Everyone should be waking up soon." Vilma stood up and walked around the room, explaining what had happened to the others. Saxon looked down as Melanie began groaning.
"Sax?" She asked, opening her eyes.
"I'm here, and we're safe. Vilma made sure that they didn't harm any of us." Saxon helped her sit up and kissed her forehead.
"Where's the man in the mask? Before I passed out, he walked over to my mom and me and rubbed our heads like he was petting us. He called us angels and said we'd be taken care of. Where is he?" She asked, looking around while getting to her feet.
"I believe he's in that pile in the corner." Saxon pointed to where the men were still unconscious, and Melanie giggled.
"Lisa would be so proud of Vilma. That has her written all over it." She said.
"Everyone, please calm down. The witches and vampires that came late were able to stop whatever they had planned for us. I think it's time we get them ready to be interrogated, don't you?" Wesley asked. He grabbed Jeremiah by the collar and threw him over with the others.
"Hey, all I was supposed to do was get you here. Don't put me with them." Jeremiah yelled as he fell to the ground.
"You're involved with helping them kidnap and attempting to kill several hundred people. What do you think your punishment should be?" Wesley asked through clenched teeth. Jeremiah's face turned red with fury.
"It's not as if they're human. They're shifters, vampires, and witches. It's as if they don't exist, so I can't be punished for a crime that didn't happen." He looked around and swallowed. He'd forgotten that he was in a room full of the people he'd just said didn't matter.
"No one from INTERPOL knows he's here, so it's as if he doesn't exist. Everyone will get a turn at this piece of shit." Wesley said, kicking Jeremiah in the ribs before walking away. The men in the pile were beginning to wake up. Some rolled from the pile onto the ground, struggling with their restraints. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get free. Wesley didn't even want to know where Vilma and the others found rope so quickly.
Everyone stood around the men who were yelling, ready to tear into them. The man who'd had the gas mask on was buried under the pile and was shouting the loudest. In all, there were fifteen men, including Jeremiah. When they had moved enough so they weren't on top of each other, they immediately recognized the man responsible. It was Lorin Brycen.
"Do you know who I am? I demand you let me out of here before you are all locked up in cages." Lorin hollered at them. No one moved as they stared at the pathetic excuse of a man.
"No one is letting you go. It's time you pay for what you've done to shifters. You may have money, but that doesn't mean you get to do what you want to our kind." Trey said. He walked over to Lorin, who was rolling around so much he was making his restraints tighter.
"I will let you out of here unscathed if you give me Caterina and Melanie. They are the ones I really want. The rest of you can go." Lorin tried to glare at Trey, but all it did was make him look constipated.
"You're not in a position to make demands. In fact, I think if you disappeared, no one would miss you, not even your father. What do you think the shifters that you have in the buildings not far from here would do if we put you in the cages with them?" Cat asked as she put her foot on his crotch and pushed down, making him scream.
"Stop it, you little bitch. You can't do this to me. I could buy and sell all of you. You're nothing compared to me." Lorin screamed again when Aiden came over and kicked him. Theo grabbed him by the hair and pulled hard.
"Don't you ever speak to my mother like that again." He said, slamming his face into the ground.
"What are you doing with the shifters you have locked up?" Wesley asked, stopping the others from killing Lorin until he could get some answers.
"I'm not telling you anything. When I get out of here, you are all dead." He screamed as the blood ran down his face.
"That's assuming you get out of here. Why don't you answer our questions, and we'll go from there?" Wesley said, doing everything he could not to let Sankar out to rip out the man's throat.
"Why would I do that? If you're going to kill me, just do it already." Lorin said.
"What about the rest of you? Do you want to tell us what he's doing with the shifters? Whoever talks will die the quickest. Whoever holds out will be slowly tortured." Wesley looked behind him and nodded. Several people shifted, including Mario, Alberto, and Emily. They all walked over to the men, growling.
"What am I in OZ? Lions and tigers and bears, oh my," One of the men joked. Mario's bear Sloan swiped across his face with one large paw. The man screamed in pain as his skin was shredded.
"Does anyone else have jokes, or are you going to start talking?" Wesley asked.
"Lorin was collecting the shifters to use their DNA to make a super shifter. He thought if he combined their DNA, he could make something so powerful he could rule over everyone." One man answered, looking fearfully at the animals surrounding them.
"Shut the fuck up, Tom. Don't tell them that." Lorin screamed at him. Tom glared at him.
"He wanted those two women because they were the last piece he needed to begin experimenting. We've been stockpiling shifters for years. He sold the ones he didn't want for himself." Tom continued.
"Is there anything else?" Wesley asked. He could tell everyone was ready to tear into the men, and he would let them once he had what he needed.
"I think that's everything. He has an office in the large white building. It has all his records. Lorin kept them in paper form so there would be no electronic records. There's also a list of all the shifters he killed and the ones he raped, both men and women." Tom said while Lorin turned red with anger.
"You're dead when we get out of here." He screamed.
"No, you're dead now," Thatcher said as he and those who had shifted attacked. The men were all dead within minutes. Josh walked over and put his hand on Wesley's back.
"I'm sorry I didn't make sure this place was more secure." He said, looking at the pile of flesh.
"Don't be. It all worked out in the end. Let's get over to the buildings and release the other shifters." Wesley said, walking outside. The building was set on fire, so there would be no evidence of what happened there.
The group was somber when they got on the buses. Those who had shifted put on clothes that they had brought with them. They rode in silence to Lorin's property. Stopping where Josh told them to, they met up with the men he's placed around the perimeter. They could see armed guards scattered around outside. Wesley sighed before speaking.
"Alright, everyone, let's get this over with."
