Chapter 53 - Marked
When Cat woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, letting her know they had slept in after their long night of lovemaking. She held her hand up to look at her ring. She couldn't get over how sparkly and shiny it was. Cat had never owned any jewelry, so she couldn't stop staring at the beauty on her finger.
Trey was still snoring as he spooned her. The air was very cool, and she could see it was foggy outside. Cat loved listening to the soothing sounds of the sea as if they were in a world by themselves.
She started thinking about Trey marking her. Cat was excited yet nervous. This was a big step for someone who hadn't known there was anything such as werelions in the world. Now she was going to be one of them.
Cat was anxious to meet her lioness, but it was still confusing to her that she would be able to turn into a lion on a whim. What if her lioness didn't like being with a former human?
"Cat, what's got you frowning?" She almost screamed when she heard Trey whisper in her ear. Cat hadn't realized he had woken up.
"You're going to think this is crazy, but I was thinking that my lioness may not like me because I was a human. What if she has the same feelings as your sister?" Cat heard Atlas growl in Trey's chest, and she laughed.
"Atlas said that won't happen, and if she does have that attitude, he will knock it out of her. Cat, your lioness is part of you, so if she didn't like you, she wouldn't like herself. How about we eat some breakfast and then we can get prepared for me to mark you? Or did you want to wait a little longer?"
Trey knew Cat was anxious to be marked, and he was trying to lighten the mood by teasing her. He knew he had accomplished his goal when she jumped out of bed and put her hands on her hips.
"Trey Galloway, if you don't mark me right after breakfast, I will have Atlas come out and mark me himself." Trey rolled on the bed laughing, and Cat looked at him in amusement.
"What's so funny? I was being serious." She crossed her arms and waited for him to answer her.
"I was laughing at you. Typically you put clothes on the second you get out of bed, but you're standing there chastising me naked. Not that I mind the view, but I knew once you realized you didn't have any clothes on, it would burst your bubble."
Cat looked down at herself with her eyes wide. He was right, she hadn't put any clothes on, and she wasn't the type to be running around naked. She quickly grabbed a t-shirt and shorts to throw on.
"That's not funny, Trey. You were joking about waiting, right? If I had my way, you would do it now, but I will let you eat breakfast first." She thought cereal or a piece of toast would be enough after his little joke. Cat got on the bed and sat on her knees, looking down at his handsome face.
"Yes, Cat, I was kidding. I'm just as anxious to mark you as you are. Besides, now we're engaged to be married too, so you will be tied to me in every way possible. Cat, you're already a lioness to me; this is just making it official." Trey put his hand on her cheek and smiled up at her. She has shown how much of a lioness she was yesterday with his sister. He couldn't wait to tell Roger, Valerie, and Ellie how she had handled Sonya.
"Alright, Trey, I guess I'll make you breakfast then. I was planning on giving you a bowl of cereal so we could get started, but when you talk like that, I have to cook for you. Get dressed, and I'll see what we have in the refrigerator." Cat leaned down and kissed him before heading to the kitchen.
*"Atlas, are you ready to meet your lioness?"* Atlas growled in response.
*"Don't be an idiot Trey. I have been ready to meet her since I first picked up Cat's scent. She's going to be just as beautiful as Cat is; I just know it."* Trey laughed at the dreaminess in Atlas' voice.
After Trey got up and dressed, he walked toward the kitchen, where he could hear Cat busily preparing something that smelled delicious. He watched her for a minute before letting her know he was there. Trey felt his heart swell, looking at her bustling around the kitchen and humming to herself. He felt like crying in joy to see her so happy and carefree.
"What smells so good, Cat?" He walked to the bar to sit down as she mixed something up on the stove.
"I'm making eggs benedict. Is that okay?" Cat focused on the sauce on the stove, ensuring it didn't get too thick.
"That sounds great. Is there anything I can do to help?" Trey had no idea where to begin in the kitchen, but if Cat wanted help, he would help her.
"Nope, I'm almost done, so just sit down, and I'll serve you, my handsome mate." Trey laughed to himself. That was the first time she had ever referred to him as her mate. He didn't think she even realized what she had said.
Cat put the English muffins on plates and added the Canadian bacon. She then placed soft-boiled eggs on top before covering them in the hollandaise sauce. Cat poured them each a glass of orange juice before setting the plates on the bar.
"Cat, this looks delicious. I have never had this homemade before." Trey closed his eyes as he took his first bite, and Cat smiled. She liked having someone to cook for.
"How is it?" Cat asked as she dug into hers.
"It's the best eggs benedict I've ever had." Trey quickly finished his food, not leaving a drop on his plate. He realized he was one lucky lion to get a beautiful mate who could cook better than a five-star restaurant.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now let me load the dishwasher, then I think we should shower. After that, it's time for you to mark me." Cat jumped off the barstool and quickly loaded the dishwasher.
They took a shower together, and as much as Trey tried, she wouldn't allow any funny business. Cat wasn't letting anything put off her being marked. Once they got out and were dressed, Cat looked up at him in anticipation.
"Is there anything special I need to do to prepare?" She asked excitedly, almost bouncing on her feet.
"No. Let's sit on the couch. I'll have you sit on my lap so I can be at the best angle. When you feel me bite down, don't move, the pain will only last for a second."
Cat pulled him over to the couch, and after he sat down, she let Trey position her on his lap. He pulled her hair back and out of the way. He then kissed the area he was getting ready to mark, and he felt her tense up as she waited.
"Okay, Cat, it's time to make you mine forever. Are you ready?" Trey kissed the spot on her neck again, and she shivered from the sensation.
"Yes, Trey, make me yours. I love you."
"I love you too, Cat."
Trey kissed her once more before slowly sinking his teeth into the sweet spot where her neck and collarbone meet. Cat felt pain like being stuck with a long needle before it went away, and she was filled with pure pleasure. Her whole body was tingly, and she was warming up from the inside out.
Trey slowly pulled back and looked into Cat's eyes. They looked glazed over like she had just had an orgasm. Trey smiled at her as he kissed her lips.
"Welcome to the werelion world, kitten."
