Chapter 26 - The Penthouse
Cat felt her blood run cold from what Roger said. Her home address was out there where all these people could find her. She didn't think as she ran to her bedroom, grabbed her backpack, and threw in a change of clothes for her and Trey. She made sure she still had cash, then returned to the kitchen, grabbing her purse and phone charger.
"Are you ready?" Cat was headed for the door when Trey stopped her and pulled her into his arms. He didn't say anything as he held her to him. When he pulled away, he kissed her forehead.
"Let's go." He grabbed her hand and led her to the elevator.
Once they got downstairs, Cat began heading to the parking garage, but Trey led her out the front door instead. He pulled her down the street to a large black truck and opened the passenger door. She looked at him in excitement.
"This is your truck?" Cat asked happily while trying to figure out how to climb in.
"Yes, if anyone knows your car, they could follow us. Ellie brought it here when she went to my apartment to get my clothes. Why are you so excited?" Trey was amused by the look on her face.
"I've never ridden in a truck before. It's so big. Now how do I get into this thing?" Cat was scrutinizing the truck when Trey suddenly lifted her in his arms, making her squeal in surprise.
"I think this is the best way." He put her on the seat and kissed her quickly before closing the door and walking to the driver's side. As he got in, he pulled Cat over so she could lean against him as he drove.
"I can't believe you just heard that all these people are after you and know where you live, but you're excited about the truck. What do you have in the backpack?" Trey put his arm over her shoulders as he drove. He felt like driving far away with her but knew she wouldn't go for that while Leo was still out there.
"A change of clothes for each of us and cash. I would have grabbed more, but I didn't think I had time. I brought my purse and phone as well. Where are we going?" Trey kept glancing at Cat in amazement. She was calm and clear-headed, while he was ready to go into a killing rage.
"We'll wait to hear from Roger. He'll either have somewhere for us to go or tell me to hide you somewhere." Trey drove around and watched his mirrors to ensure no one was following them. When they were a reasonable distance from her apartment, he pulled into the parking lot of a small restaurant so they could get something to eat while they waited.
Cat looked around at the restaurant and thought it was perfect. It was small enough that they could see anyone that came in. They sat at a small booth and began looking at the menus when an older woman approached them.
"Can I get you two something to drink?" She asked with a smile.
"I'll have an iced tea." Cat said, smiling back at her.
"I'll have the same." Trey stated.
"Okay, look over the menu while I get your drinks. I'll be back in a few minutes."
When the waitress returned, they ordered turkey club sandwiches and fries. While eating, Cat constantly looked out the window to see if she saw anyone. It was starting to get dark, which she was thankful for because it would be easier for her and Trey to hide. However, it was also easier for others to hide.
Roger called as they finished eating. Trey didn't put the phone on speaker this time because he didn't want anyone else in the restaurant to hear. Cat listened to his side of the conversation but couldn't get any information as he mostly just listened without speaking. When he hung up, he looked at Cat and smiled.
"Well, it looks like we'll be staying at another hotel. This time it's my treat and pure luxury. You won't have to worry about security. You'll see why when we get there." Trey knew exactly where to take Cat, and it wouldn't require her cleaning skills.
"Alright, I'll go wherever you want, so lead the way." Trey paid for their meal, and they headed out to the truck. Much to Cat's delight, he lifted her up onto the seat again.
They drove to a large downtown Sacramento hotel. She had seen it many times in passing. When he lifted her out of the truck, she grabbed her purse and backpack but felt extremely out of place.
Everyone she saw was dressed in nice expensive clothing, and she was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Trey was wearing jeans, but it wasn't the same. He was tall and handsome, whereas Cat thought she looked small and frumpy.
"What's wrong?" He'd noticed she was hesitant to go inside and thought something had spooked her.
"I'm not dressed appropriately to go into a place like this." She whispered embarrassedly.
"These places only see money, not clothes. Don't worry about it. Even in jeans, you're the prettiest woman here, so if anyone looks at you, I guarantee it's in jealousy." Cat started laughing as she took his hand.
"You always know the right thing to say." Trey smiled. He was trying to make her feel better, but what he said was also true. She was the most beautiful of every woman he saw.
As they walked into the hotel, she was still self-conscience, but with Trey's arm around her, she ignored everyone. They checked in, and Cat glared at the woman behind the counter who tried to flirt with Trey despite his arm remaining around her the entire time. He ignored the woman and leaned down to kiss Cat's forehead, making the woman's smile falter.
She looked around the hotel as they walked to the elevator and was speechless. It had white tiled marble floors and elegant furniture around the lobby. There were several expensive shops and restaurants.
"This place is beautiful." Cat put her arm around his waist and snuggled closer as they waited for the elevator. He smiled down at her, anxious to show her the room. He knew it would blow her mind.
When they got into the elevator, she was surprised to see Trey take out a key, put it in the panel, and then push the button for PH. Cat looked up at him in confusion.
"Doesn't PH mean penthouse? Are we going to the penthouse?" She whispered, even though they were the only ones on the elevator.
"Yes, I want to spoil you, so I rented the penthouse. You need time to deal with everything that's been happening. This is the perfect place to do that. If we have to hide, we should do it in comfort." She continued staring at him as the elevator kept going higher and higher. When the door finally opened, she noticed it opened directly into their room.
Cat walked slowly out of the elevator and looked around. Her apartment looked like a closet compared to this place. The marble floors continued in the room, but there were thick large black and white rugs in different areas. A large black sectional faced the wall of windows looking over downtown Sacramento. There were also a couple of white armchairs and a large flat-screen television.
The bedroom had a California king bed with black and white bedding. There was a large dresser, two bedside tables, and another large tv hanging on the wall.
She stopped when she walked into the bathroom and gasped. The shower was big enough for ten people, and the jacuzzi tub seemed more like a small swimming pool than a bathtub.
Trey watched as Cat walked around the room, not saying anything. He was happy that he was the one to take her here, but it broke his heart that she'd never seen anything this nice. He made a silent promise that from then on, she would only have the best of everything, no matter how small it was.
"What do you think?" When she turned around, she ran to him and flung herself into his arms.
"I think you're the most wonderful man in the whole world. This is unbelievable. I could stand out on that balcony, looking over the city for hours. You're right; this is an excellent place to hide. I like that no one can get up here without a penthouse key. It makes me feel secure." Cat hugged him tightly. She had never felt so safe and happy in her entire life.
"I'll call Roger and let him know where we're staying. After that, we can do whatever you want. There's a refrigerator full of drinks and snacks, so we can watch a movie or anything else your heart desires. This will be our home for a while so let's enjoy ourselves." Trey smiled down at her as he pulled out his phone. He was happy to have her all to himself without the cameras watching their every move.
Cat grinned secretly. She knew what she wanted to do now that they were truly alone. She let Trey finish his phone call and reached for his hand, pulling him into the bedroom with a smile.
"I'm tired from today's activities, and I think it's time we go to bed. However, what I have in mind doesn't entail sleeping. What do you say? Do you want to give this big bed a try?" Cat slipped her hands under his shirt, rubbing his warm skin, and she heard Atlas purring his approval.
Trey stared down at her in surprise. He figured after the day they had, she would want to go straight to bed and sleep. As she kept rubbing her hands on him, he knew he wouldn't deny her anything she wanted.
He picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around him. He kissed her as he carried her to the bed. When he slid his tongue into her mouth, Cat responded naturally.
Trey sat on the side of the bed with Cat's legs still wrapped around him while he continued to kiss her. He slipped his hands under her shirt and pulled it over her head. She removed his shirt so they could be skin on skin the way she liked.
He lay on the bed and rolled over so he was on top of her. He stood up and quickly pulled off her shoes, socks, jeans, and panties. Trey looked down at her and smiled, she was so beautiful, and she was all his.
"I need you." Hearing her breathy voice was all he needed to snap out of it. Trey quickly pulled off his remaining clothes and climbed onto the bed.
"I need you too." He wanted to go slow, but she wasn't having it.
"I want to feel you deep inside me. When we're connected as one, you make me feel complete." He didn't waste any time as he slowly entered her.
Trey started moving, and Cat wrapped her legs around him to meet his thrusts. When she told him faster, he lost control and did as she said. He knew this would be quick, but they both needed it. They came together as they screamed each other's names.
He rolled over on his back, holding Cat to him as he tried to catch his breath. He would never get tired of her. She was the beginning and the end for him. Now he just needed to catch Leo so they could really start enjoying their life together. Trey pulled the sheet over them and held Cat in his arms as they fell asleep.
