Chapter 63 - The Heat

Cat looked at Trey with her eyes widened. When he had said she would be going onto heat, she didn't think she would feel hot like she was on fire. She thought it was more like a state of mind.

Saira confirmed what Trey said. They were in heat and needed their mate before the need became unbearable and started to get painful. Cat groaned as she began to feel worse.

"We have to get home now." She was panting so badly that her mouth was dry. All she could think about was feeling him inside her, and it was driving her insane.

Trey drove as fast as he could while keeping an eye on her. She was pulling at her clothes, and he didn't think it would be long before she started to take them off. He needed her to listen to him. If they have sex while she's in heat, she would most likely become pregnant. If she wasn't ready for cubs, he would do everything he could to help her get past this.

"Cat, can you hear me?" She looked up at him with her blue eyes flaming.

"I'm not that far gone yet." Cat tried not to touch him because it would send her over the edge.

"If we have sex, you'll become pregnant with a cub. I know you may not be ready for a baby right now. So tell me what you want to do." Trey glanced at her as he pulled into the driveway and drove to the pool house.

Cat thought about what he said. Was she ready to have a cub? She had hoped to have more time before becoming a mother, but it wouldn't be terrible if she got pregnant. Trey stopped the truck and looked at her. She crawled onto his lap and kissed him.

"If I get pregnant, so be it. That just means it was meant to be. Now take me into the house and get rid of the burning inside me." Cat kissed him while trying to pull his shirt off. He figured he better hurry before Valerie saw them out the window.

Trey got out of the truck. Cat was hanging on him with her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms around his neck. She kept kissing him, and he could hardly see to open the door. As soon as they were inside, he carried her to the bedroom.

She knew he would want to take it slow, but she needed it fast and hard. She jumped off him and quickly yanked off her clothes before helping to remove his.

Once they both had nothing on, she pushed him onto the bed and got on top. She wasted no time sliding him inside her. She began riding him faster than she ever had before. Trey was having trouble keeping up.

Cat's body was so hot, and the scent of her heat was driving him insane. Both lions were softly growling with the same need as their humans. When they came after only a few minutes, neither was satisfied. They changed positions, and Trey took the lead this time. They knew it would be a while before the heat went away, so they got ready for the long haul.

Cat was lying sprawled out on the bed while Trey lightly rubbed her back. Her heat had lasted three days, and they were both worn out. She was sleeping soundly while Trey stared at her. He wondered if she was pregnant. At the thought of a little cub, he felt a moment of fear. She had been worried about being a mother, but he never thought about how he would be as a father.

Cat woke up and rolled over. When she looked up into Trey's face, he looked white as a sheet. She was worried something was wrong, but then he gave her a small smile.

"You're paler than I am." She moved closer to him so she could kiss his cheek.

"I was thinking that if you're pregnant, I might not be a good father. What do I know about being a dad? I haven't been around too many kids other than my siblings and the kids we have rescued over the years." Cat wrapped her arm around her handsome mate while lying her cheek against his chest.

"That's precisely why you're going to be an amazing father. Look how you are with Aiden. He looks up to you. I saw you talk with the kids in the hospital. You're a natural with children. So when I have this cub, he or she will be lucky to have a dad like you."

Cat wondered if he picked up on the fact that she said when not if. Saira had already told her that she was pregnant. She had planned on telling Trey as soon as she woke up, but the look on his face had stopped her.

He thought about what she had said. She was right. Aiden had always gravitated toward him, even when they were kids. The kids they rescued also were comfortable being around him. It was then that it hit him that she had said when she had the cub. He looked at Cat, and she was grinning from ear to ear.

"Are you telling me we're having a cub? Are you sure? How do you know already?" Trey looked at her belly and put his hand on it like he expected to feel something. She started laughing.

"Yes, Saira said we're having a cub. She doesn't know if it's male or female yet. As worried as I was about not being ready, all of my doubts disappeared when Saira gave me the news. I want this cub and can't wait to meet him or her." She put her hand over his that was still on her belly.

"I want to get married before the cub gets here, and I want it to be everything you want and more. Have you thought about where you want the wedding and who you want to invite?" Trey looked at Cat, thinking of her walking down the aisle to him in a beautiful white dress, looking like a queen.

"I never thought I would get married, so I didn't dare dream about what I wanted. However, I want a simple wedding. Do you think Roger and Valerie will let us do it here?" Cat thought their house and property would be perfect for a small wedding.

"Are you kidding? They will go into full planning mode when we tell them we're having a cub and want to get married at their house. I think Roger and Valerie will want to be our cub's surrogate grandparents. They love kids, yet they could never have any of their own." He knew Valerie and Roger would be all over Cat and the cub like protective parents.

With Cat being a werelion, she will only carry the cub for about five or six months. Lionesses' typically carried their cubs for about three to four months. A werelion carried for a little longer, but still less than a human.

"I want Kitty to be my maid of honor, and I assume that Aiden will be your best man. Do you think Roger would walk me down the aisle?" She didn't have a father or anyone to stand in that role, so she thought Roger would be perfect.

"I think he would love the job. Let's go ahead and talk to them about it now. Are you ready to get out of here?" Cat jumped into his arms and gave him kisses all over his face until he was laughing.

"Can you believe we're going to be parents? Our house over at the group home will still be perfect. It has two bedrooms, one of which can be a nursery. You're making everything I never thought possible a reality. Now let's go talk to Valerie and Roger."

Trey laughed as Cat ran into the bathroom to start the shower. He knew Roger would want to know if he was returning to work, but Trey thought he might take some time off to get the group home ready. They also had the wedding and the baby coming, so maybe taking a year off would be good.

By the time he got up to get in the shower, Cat was getting out, but she left the water on for him. She ran out of the bathroom to the closet. He finished showering just as quickly as she did.

When he walked out of the bathroom to get dressed, he suddenly stopped at what he saw. Cat was sitting on the floor in the middle of the bedroom, crying. He immediately ran over to her.

"What's wrong?" Trey sat beside her while looking her over to make sure she wasn't injured.

"I just got off the phone with the prosecutor. She said Leo refused to take a deal because he wanted a trial. She said I would need to testify about everything that has happened since you took me from the hospital up until Leo was caught. Why does that bastard have to keep ruining everything?"

Trey picked her up off the floor and carried her to the bed. He sat with her on his lap while she cried. He was done playing games with Leo. It was time he gave him some werelion justice.
