BK 4 - Chapter 46 - Playing Fetch

"We aren't playing your game, and you can't kill us. We're human, so that means we're better than all of you." Neal yelled. The two men next to him don't look as confident.

"You're lower than the dirt on my shoe, and you sound like a toddler having a tantrum," Jade said, walking over and spitting on him. "Now get ready for your nightmare. I promise it doesn't have a happy ending, at least not for you."

Trey, Cat, Lisa, and Melanie went behind some trees to remove their clothes and shift. It startled the hunters when the large lions walked out next to them. It was intimidating to see them so close. Ali walked over to Jayce and rubbed on him, purring loudly.

*"Wow, our mate is really hot."* Jayce spun around to see who spoke, but no one was near.

"Who was that?" He asked, still looking.

*"It's me, genius, your lion. My name is Ace. Good grief, Ace and Jayce. Could they not have thought of anything more unique? Like Sniper. Yeah, call me Sniper."* Jayce felt like his head was spinning.

"I got my lion?" He asked softly. Ali looked up at him with wide eyes. Jayce realized she couldn't respond to him. "His name is Ace."

*"I told you my name is Sniper. What's our mate's name?"*

*"Her name is Lisa, and her lion is Aliyah, but she goes by Ali,"* Jayce replied. He almost screamed when he felt his chest shaking, caused by his lion purring. It was the strangest thing he'd ever experienced.

*"Ali, I like it. Okay, I'll be Ace. Ali and Ace the crime stoppers. That's cool. So what are we doing here?"* Ace asked, looking around through Jayce's eyes.

*"Getting ready to play a game of fetch the scumbag,"* Jayce replied.

*"Well, don't let me interrupt. Do you have any popcorn? With all these lions and vampires, this is like the best part of the movie."* Jayce couldn't help rolling his eyes. His lion was quite the comedian.

"We'll give you until the count of ten. I suggest you start running," Thatcher said to the three men. They only hesitated for a second before taking off. Ali crouched down so Jayce could get on her back. The other lions did the same. Thatcher turned to the hunters. "If you want to ride along, you can get on their backs, but hold on tight."

Travis and another hunter got on Atlas' back, and the other two got on Saira and Chika. Bill was unsure what to do until Jade walked over.

"If you're okay being carried by a girl, get on my back and hold tight. I promise I won't drop you. I don't plan on doing anything more than a few kicks. We'll let the lions do the messy work." Jade turned her back to Bill.

"You're no girl. You're a sexy vampire, and I would be honored to ride on your back." He said before wrapping his arms around her neck and jumping to put his legs around her waist. Jade smiled. It felt good having him wrapped around her like a second skin.

"Get ready for the ride of your life." When Thatcher reached ten, everyone took off running. The vampires ran slowly this time since it was a game. The lions surrounded the three men, growling when they reached them within a few minutes. The hunters watched in fascination as the men started crying, and they were pretty sure they could smell urine.

Jade leaped in the air and kicked all three in the face before landing on the ground. Bill had never felt more free in his entire life. Riding on Jade's back was eye-opening to a world he was just learning about.

"Dinner time," Saxon said, looking at Chika. The four lions leaped on the screaming men and tore them apart. They didn't want to swallow any rotten meat, so they settled for ripping them to pieces. The hunters felt sick, not because of what the lions were doing, but because they had done the same thing to shifters.

*"Yeah, get him right there. Tear his head off a little more. Don't forget that leg. Whoo, hoo."* Ace was having the time of his life. Jayce didn't know what to think. He felt like they did the world justice by getting rid of those men, but having Ace in his head talking like they were watching a bad horror flick was unnerving.

When the men's body parts were scattered for the wild animals to finish off, everyone returned to the clearing. The lions shifted behind the trees and put their clothes back on. No one liked killing, but what those men had done was unforgivable.

"So what's Ace like?" Lisa asked Jayce excitedly.

"Annoying. He was cheering Ali on the whole time and asking for popcorn." Everyone busted out laughing, even Jayce. They needed something to lighten the mood after the day they'd had. The hike back to the cars took a while, but no one was in a rush. The sun was going down when they reached the gate at Roger and Valerie's house.

"I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm hungry and exhausted," Lisa said as they walked toward the house. Everyone agreed. As soon as the door opened, their mouths began watering. Something smelled heavenly. When they entered the dining room, there was a buffet of almost every food you could imagine.

"What's all this?" Cat asked in surprise. Valerie smiled as she walked over to the group.

"We have so many people here we decided to cook a feast. I hope you're hungry." She said, looking at them. All their stomachs began rumbling while they looked at all the delicious food.

"We're starving," Trey answered, hugging Valerie. He would tell everyone later what they found out about Roger. First, they were going to eat.

"Did you feed the two tied up?" Cat asked while grabbing a plate.

"Yeah, we fed them, watered them, and took them out to pee," Alex replied sarcastically. Everyone laughed as they began eating.

"What are we going to do with them?" Lisa asked. She had a few ideas but doubted the rest would go along with it. Other than Jade. She and Jade could rule the world, in her opinion.

"We haven't decided yet. With Tori and Ryan inadvertently being responsible for a lot of this, I would like to pin a few things on them and let the justice system take care of their punishment." Trey replied. He wanted everyone involved to pay for Roger's death, and those two were part of it.

"You sure you don't want me and Jade to take them for a walk? We can let them run free in the wild. I promise I won't even let Ali out." Lisa looked at Jade with a smirk. They both liked being able to kick a little ass now and then. Especially those who deserved it.

"Yeah, I bet you will. Someone will come across the parts and think there's a bear on the loose. They never blame the mountain lions; it's always a bear." Alex said while rolling his eyes at his sister. Kiersten laughed beside him. She loved their banter; it was so refreshing after the stress of the past few days.

"Give us a little credit. We'll spread the pieces out so no one will find them. Besides, we need to train our mates," Jade said, smiling at Bill. He took her hand under the table. He would do anything just to see her smile.

"You girls are too much. Jayce and Bill, I hope you know what you're in for. These two aren't easy to deal with, trust me," Alex said, looking between the two women glaring at him.

"Oh, please. Don't listen to the big teddy bear over there. He's about as tough as Baloo from The Jungle Book." Lisa said as she nods to Jade. They broke out in song, singing The Bare Necessities. Everyone bursted out laughing except Alex, whose face turned red from embarrassment. That was his favorite movie and song when he was a kid. He would walk around humming it all the time. He gave his sister his best death glare, but she ignored him.

"Maybe he's Yogi Bear, and he's stealing picnic baskets," Jade said as she laughed at the look on Alex's face. It was bad enough when Lisa picked on him, but when Jade joined her, they were impossible. Just as he was ready to say something to stop the both of them, Gerard came running into the room with Wesley and Mindy. They all looked excited.

"Where have you been? Are you hungry?" Valeria asked them.

"We've been busy, but we have good news," Wesley said, looking at Lisa. She put her fork down and waited. When her heart started racing, she took Jayce's hand under the table.

"What news?" She whispered anxiously. Mindy walked over and handed her a piece of paper.

"We found your birth mom."
