BK 5 - Chapter 62 - Planning

Sherri got Gabi out of the car and looked around at the impressive house and grounds of the werelion family. Her daughter was silent for once, looking at all the people staring at them. Shaun joined them just as a couple approached.

"Hello, I'm Cat, and this is my mate, Trey. Welcome to our home. You must be Sherri, Shaun, and Gabi." Cat said with a smile, holding her hand out. Sherri shook her hand and gasped.

"Yes, we are. Thank you for calling us. What is that weird feeling when I touch you?" Sherri asked, releasing Cat's hand.

"I'm part caladrius. When I touch people, I can make them feel better by taking on some of their worries or illnesses." Gabi leaped from Sherri's arms to Cat's. Sherri and Shaun reached for her, but she wrapped her little arms around Cat's neck and held on tight.

"Gabi, that's not nice," Sherri scolded her daughter. Cat kissed the little girl's cheek and smiled.

"She's okay. I'm used to it. Children seem to pick up on the caladrius part faster than adults." She explained as they began walking.

"What she's trying to say is that kids love her and tend to cling to her, even kids who don't know her," Trey told them as he put his arm around Cat's shoulders. Sherri and Shaun looked at each other. They understood what Trey was saying because they'd known Cat for five minutes and already felt like they never wanted to leave.

"Everyone, this is Sherri, Shaun, and Gabi." Penelope got up from where she was sitting next to Krystal and Johan and ran over.

"How old are you, Gabi?" She asked the little girl in Grandma Cat's arms.

"She's two," Sherri answered for her daughter, who suddenly seemed to have become shy.

"Do you want to come and play with me?" Penelope asked her hopefully. Gabi nodded, and Cat put her down. Penelope took her hand, and they walked over to the large sandbox filled with toys.

"It's good for her to be around other kids. Most of the time, she's only around adults." Cat said with a smile, watching Penelope fuss over Gabi like a little mother hen. In many ways, she reminded her of Lisa when she was a cub.

"That's funny. I was thinking the same thing about Gabi. She's only around us." Sherri watched the two girls play, and her heart felt lighter.

"You got here just in time. We were getting ready to talk about why we brought everyone together. Please feel free to get something to eat. There's plenty of food." Cat said, pointing toward the tables. Sherri and Shaun made their way to the table where Krystal, Simon, Karalee, and Liam were sitting. Everyone looked at Cat eagerly.

"Thank you all for coming. As you all know, we know that we're going to be attacked, but we don't know when. Atzi, the witch who died so we could live, shared her magic with Emma and Roger. She told us that they would need it and would know what to do when the time comes. However, I'm not one to sit back and let my grandchildren fight alone, so I'm calling on everyone I can think of to help. This isn't just a fight for our family. It's a fight for our kind and humankind. If someone from the underworld is attacking, they plan to take over Earth, and we can't let that happen. We also can't let the humans know what's going on. Even though we worked so hard to put the laws into place to protect us, there are still those who would rather see us dead. This isn't a fight humans could win. We have to do it, but we won't be alone. Many of us aren't werewolves, and we don't have a relationship with Selene, the Moon Goddess. However, she knows of our trouble and has agreed to help. In addition, Satan isn't turning a blind eye either. He's a little more restricted because he can't intervene until we're attacked."

"Grandma Cat, you talked to Selene and Satan? How did you do that? I don't believe you have them on speed dial," Lisa asked in disbelief. Whenever she thought her amazing grandmother couldn't surprise her anymore, she proved her wrong. Cat winked at Lisa.

"I have my ways. Selene is sending some people that she believes have the power to help Emma and Roger. My two beautiful grandchildren. One was named after my mother, and the other after my surrogate father. You have proven time and time again that you can handle this, but you know I can't let you do it alone. I love you both so much and everyone here. The fact that so many have found their mates in such a short time isn't a coincidence. Atzi may have played a part in bringing each of you together," Cat said with a small smile. Everyone's mouth fell open.

"How did she do that? She's gone?" Johnny asked, crossing his arms. Everyone, including his brother Cole, had a mate, but he didn't, and he was almost thirty. He was human, but he was raised by the werelion family after his grandparents died when he was eight. Johnny and Cole had always felt like part of this amazing family and wanted to have mates. He knew he could have met and married a woman, but he wanted what everyone else had. He wanted the one person who was put on Earth just for him. Until then, he would be alone.

"She may not be here physically, but she's still here. Trust me and trust her. I know you're worried about a mate. Be patient; you never know when she will appear." Cat smiled, and Johnny's face turned red with embarrassment. He didn't think it was that obvious how desperate he was to find his mate.

"So, what do we need to do to prepare? I don't feel like my boxing skills will have much of an impact on a demon or whoever is coming here." Karalee asked. She wanted to help however she could, but fighting was all she had on her side.

"When Selene's help comes, we will all be given some gifts sent straight from the Moon Goddess herself. I have no idea what they are, but we will be prepared. Don't forget, we also have Petra and Isla, who have some powerful magic of their own." All eyes turned to the two women, who were glowing. Petra was used to the attention, but Isla was having trouble taking in all the changes coming at her so quickly. The only thing keeping her calm was having Nathan's arms wrapped around her. As long as she had him, she was ready for anything.

As everyone processed what Cat had said, the sky above them went dark, and there was a loud clap of thunder as lightning struck all around them. Three people suddenly appeared in the yard, and everyone had the same question. Were they good or bad?
