BK 4 - Chapter 55 - Jade and Lisa's Results

Lisa woke up early, feeling better than she had in a long time. Wesley had been right; she had needed a relaxing night with her mate. Jayce was lying next to her, still wrapped around her like ivy. He was awake, too, but neither wanted to move.

"Do you think it will always be like this with us?" Lisa asked, turning in Jayce's arms to look at him. She could die happy looking at his handsome face. In many ways, he was shy and insecure, and she assumed that's why he was given Ace, who was the complete opposite.

"I know it will always be like this because I love you, and my job is to always make you happy." He responds before kissing her. Lisa responded by rolling him onto his back. She figured one more time wouldn't hurt before getting back to the real world.

She wanted to check on Adelma. When Wesley had brought them some food last night, he said Morgan was staying with her, and it looked like he'd already marked Adelma. Lisa was happy for her. She still wasn't ready to call her mom. Melanie would always be her mom, but she still cared for her.

An hour later, after showering, Lisa and Jayce left their room. She could hear voices in the kitchen. When they walked in, she stopped in her tracks. Adelma, Cat, Valerie, and Kitty sat at the bar while Morgan, Trey, and Aiden cooked breakfast.

"Am I seeing things?" Lisa asked, walking over to the women. Jayce joined the men in the kitchen to see if he could help.

"Nope. Cat put the men to work cooking breakfast for everyone." Valerie said, hugging Lisa.

"How are you doing?" Lisa asked Adelma. She almost gasped when she saw her. Her face didn't look so pale, and her eyes were shining. The dark circles under her eyes were gone, and even her hair seemed to be turning back to blonde rather than grey.

"I'm doing great. Morgan said I may have some pain later from the venom, so he wanted to ensure I ate something before it started. I feel a lot better and stronger, too." Adelma answered softly. She had slept so well that when she woke up, she was sure everything had been a dream. She giggled excitedly when she saw Morgan in bed with her, realizing it was all real.

"I'm so glad you had him mark you. Speaking of which, I need to talk to him." Lisa walks over to where Morgan is busy whipping something in a bowl.

"What can I do for you, little lioness?" Morgan asked, not realizing everyone in the room got quiet. Lisa growled at him.

"No one calls me little lioness and lives to talk about it." She said. Lisa couldn't stand it when people commented about her size. Morgan put his hands up in surrender.

"Consider me warned." He said and heard everyone sigh with relief when Lisa relaxed.

"I want you to check Jade's DNA to see if you can find her birth parents or any other relatives," Lisa said. She gave him a pass only because she wanted him to do something for her. Morgan wanted to stay on her good side, so he quickly agreed.

"After we finish breakfast, I'll get my kit from the car. I should have your results soon, too." He said as he poured the mixture of eggs, peppers, onions, and ham into a large pot.

"Thank you," Lisa said, rejoining the women. "I'm going to go check on Jade and make sure she didn't force herself on Bill before her birthday."

Everyone laughed as she left the kitchen. When she reached Jade's room, she thought about walking in. However, she didn't want to see something she shouldn't, so she knocked. Jade answered, and Lisa covered her eyes.

"Are you decent?" She asked as Jade smacked her arm.

"Of course I am. What do you think I am an animal?" Jade asked with a smirk. Lisa laughed at her. She looked into the room and saw Bill standing in the background with his face bright red. They may both be clothed, but she could tell they were definitely doing something before she came.

"The men are making breakfast, and then Morgan will take some of your blood." Lisa couldn't help laughing at the thought of someone taking blood from a vampire.

"Great. I thought about it a lot last night, even though I want to know where I come from. If nothing comes from it, I'll be fine. How about you? Has he gotten your results yet?" Jade asked, opening the door all the way for Lisa.

"Not yet. He said he should have them soon, though." Lisa answered.

"Can you do me a favor?" Jade asked nervously.

"Anything," Lisa replied.

"Tomorrow's my birthday. Will you please make sure no one does anything special, like a party? I just want it to be a day like any other," Jade asked hopefully. Lisa's smile grew bigger and bigger, making Jade groan.

"Are you kidding? You're turning eighteen, and you already have your mate. Get ready for the party of the century." Lisa ran out of the room before Jade could stop her. They needed something to celebrate, and Jade's birthday was the perfect excuse. When she reached the kitchen, she saw most of the family and the hunters. She assumed they had decided to join the family, as they always seemed to be there.

"Everyone, with everything we've had going on, we almost forgot that tomorrow is Jade's eighteenth birthday. We need to have a huge party for her. We have so much to celebrate, and this will be the perfect opportunity." Lisa announced. Everyone agreed and quickly started making plans. When Jade and Bill joined them, she looked like she was ready to tackle Lisa.

"I said no party, and you're doing the exact opposite," Jade said with a pout. Bill was secretly happy they were having a party for her. He had something special to give her, and despite being nervous, he wanted to do it in front of her family.

"Just eat so Morgan can get your blood. I'm not going to have him tell me my results until he has yours as well. We can do it like a big reveal. You know the talk shows where they say You are not the father." Lisa said excitedly. Jade shook her head but couldn't help but smile. Lisa had seemed down the last few days, and seeing that light back in her eyes was good. Technically, Lisa was her niece, but they always felt more like sisters.

"Fine. Morgan, I'm ready when you are. I'll eat later." Jade said. He finished his food and went out to get his kit. After taking her blood, he turned to Adelma.

"Do you want to go to the lab with me?" Morgan asked her. She stood up and nodded.

"Yes." Adelma was still getting used to being able to come and go as she pleased. She and Morgan left to go to the lab, and he said they wouldn't be back until they had both Lisa's and Jade's results.

After they were gone, everyone else began planning Jade's party. All their threats had been eliminated, but they enjoyed having everyone under one roof for a while. They figured her party would be nice before they all went back to their homes.

Jade finally got into the spirit and began helping with the menu and music she wanted. After everything was set, Morgan and Adelma returned. Lisa noticed Morgan looked excited. She hoped that meant he had news.

"Did you find something?" Lisa asked anxiously.

"Yes. Do you want me to tell you both here with everyone?" Morgan asked Lisa and Jade. They both nodded as their family all gathered around in the living room. Lisa and Jade held hands while their mates had their arms around them.

"Okay, Lisa, I'll tell you first. I ran your DNA and found that you have two half-brothers and one half-sister connected by Derrick's DNA. Here is their information so you can get in contact with them if you'd like. From what I could find, it looks like they were raised by their birth mothers." Morgan handed Lisa the page with her siblings' information. She looked at it in disbelief. She wanted to call them right away, but she wanted to look them up and see what else she could find before she did.

"Thank you," she said, smiling at Morgan.

"You're welcome." He replied before turning to Jade. "Now I have some news for you, too. However, your results are not as concrete because there are a lot of things I can't explain yet. I'm hoping your family will be able to help connect the dots."

"Okay, what did you find?" Jade asked nervously. Why would her family know anything about where she came from? She squeezed Lisa's hand nervously.

"I couldn't find your birth parents, but I did find a distant relative. Jade, you're related to Cat."
