BK 4 - Chapter 54 - Mates

Lisa and Jayce joined the others in the house. She still couldn't believe Adelma was Morgan's mate. It was an incredible coincidence that she'd asked him to come to do her blood on the same day they rescued Adelma from the facility.

"Lisa, I'm glad you're here. We've had some success." Wesley said as he and Mindy walked over to her and Jayce.

"What are you talking about?" Lisa asked. Her mind was still on Adelma and Morgan.

"My contact responded, and he thinks it will be a relatively seamless process getting the law approved. Many lawmakers are already aware of shifters, vampires, and witches, so he believes they'll support putting a bill in place to protect us. We also included the language Bill suggested about being an endangered species." Wesley braced himself for Lisa's sharp tongue, but she just gave him a small smile.

"That's great. I'm sorry I haven't been as focused as I should have." She said. Wesley was immediately worried. That wasn't the lioness he knew.

"What's wrong?" He asked with concern.

"It's everything, I guess. Losing Grandpa Roger, Breanne almost getting killed, being hunted, finding out where I came from, and everything else. I just keep waiting for something to push me over the edge." Lisa spoke quietly so the rest of the family couldn't hear. She didn't want them to worry about her.

"I understand. Why don't you and Jayce go to your room and relax? I'll bring some food to you so you can spend time together. Since you two met, it's been one thing after another, and I honestly think you need your mate right now. Don't worry about anything else for at least the rest of tonight." Wesley remembered how it was when he first met Mindy. They had no time to spend with each other, and sometimes, that was what they needed the most.

"Thanks, Uncle Wesley." Lisa hugged him and Mindy before pulling Jayce toward their room. She noticed Jade out of the corner of her eye and quickly detoured to say something to her.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Lisa asked her. Jade stood up and held Bill's hand so he would come, too.

"Sure. What's going on?" Jade asked as they followed her and Jayce out of the room.

"You know I had my blood taken to see if I have any siblings anywhere. Do you want me to have Morgan check you as well? Maybe we can find your birth parents." Lisa questioned her. Jade thought about it, and even though she had never really thought about her birth parents, she figured it wouldn't hurt to see what the results said.

"Sure. You know my mom and dad will always be my mom and dad, but I don't mind trying to find where I came from." Jade just hoped her birth mother hadn't gone through anything as traumatic as Adelma.

"Morgan will be coming back because he and Adelma are mates. I'm sure he won't be leaving any time soon, so we'll ask him if he will test your blood too. Any plans for your birthday in two days?" Lisa asked, looking between Jade and Bill. Both of their faces turned a little red.

"Not really," Jade answered, not meeting Lisa's eyes. She smirked at her.

"Okay, just make sure you use protection. We don't need any little baby vamps running around trying to suck everyone's blood." Lisa grabbed Jayce and ran down the hall before Jade could hit her.

"I'm going to get you for that," Jade yelled after her. Lisa laughed as she and Jayce went into their room. She loved teasing Jade, or anyone else, for that matter.

"I think Uncle Wesley was right; I need my mate," Lisa said, wrapping her arms around Jayce's neck. He lifted her so she could wrap her legs around him and took her to the bed. It felt like it had been days since he made love to her, and he planned to take advantage of their time alone.

Adelma sat on the bench, enjoying watching the setting sun. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen a sunset. She saw a police car pull up to the house and a young man and woman put into the back seat. Adelma was curious about what they'd done but wouldn't dare ask. She was just glad it wasn't her that was being taken away.

Right after the police left, she saw Morgan pulling in through the gate. Her heart started racing. What if he'd changed his mind while he was away? Was he going to tell her he didn't want to be her mate? Adelma watched him get out of the car, and as soon as he saw her, Morgan started walking in her direction. He looked at her wearily when he stopped.

"I'm surprised you're still sitting out here. Is everything okay?" Morgan asked with concern. Was she waiting out there for him? If so, was it because she wanted to let him down gently?

"I haven't been allowed outside in over twenty years. I'm soaking up as much fresh air as I can get," Adelma answered with a small smile. Morgan relaxed and sat next to her.

"I love the outdoors, especially when I can run freely as Ty." Morgan was worried about touching her again. He didn't want Adelma to think he was pressuring her into anything. All he thought about was his mate the entire time he was away.

"I talked with Lisa, and if you still want me to be your mate, then I want you to mark me." Adelma watched as his face broke out into a gorgeous smile. Why did she suddenly feel like a schoolgirl who just found out the most popular boy wanted her?

"I was scared that you changed your mind. The whole time I was gone, that's all I could think about. Are you sure you're doing this because you want me? I don't want you to have any regrets later." Morgan asked. Ty started purring with excitement. Adelma placed her hand on his chest to feel the rumble underneath.

"I've never wanted anything more. What about you? Are you sure you want me?" Adelma asked, still keeping her hand on him. Morgan smiled and brought her hand to his lips. She felt her body heating up from the effect he had on her.

"Sweetheart, I've been waiting for you. I was ready to mark you the moment I saw you. Can I hug you?" Morgan asked anxiously. He wanted Adelma in his arms to let her know there wouldn't be any more pain.

"Yes." She replied. Morgan didn't hesitate. He moved over until they were touching, and he wrapped his arms around Adelma. She tentatively put her arms around him and held on tight. The sparks that flowed through them were so intense. Adelma had never felt so good in her entire life. Just having Morgan hold her gave her a strength she never thought she'd get back. When he kissed her forehead, she shivered with excitement. The last time anyone had kissed her was Derrick, the day he left.

"When do you want me to mark you?" Morgan asked. He rubbed his hands over her back, not liking how frail she felt.

"Can we do it now?" Adelma asked. As long as he wanted her, she didn't want to wait. She figured as she'd already had so much of her life stolen from her, she didn't want to waste any more of it. Morgan pulled away and looked into her eyes.

"Right now, like here on this bench now?" He asked, looking at her thin neck. His mouth watered, thinking about biting into her.

"Yes. Right here, right now. If we're both sure, why should we wait? I've spent half my life locked in a facility and am ready to start living." Morgan saw a light in her blue eyes and smiled. He wouldn't deny her anything after the life she'd had.

"Alright, let's do it now. Before I mark you, can I kiss you?" He asked. Adelma wanted him to kiss her, but she was nervous.

"Okay." She answered shyly. Adelma felt her heart racing as Morgan leaned toward her. She closed her eyes when his lips touched hers. The heat that spread through her body was indescribable. After so many years, her body was starting to come alive again. She felt an ache between her legs as Morgan's tongue slid into her mouth. Adelma moaned and leaned into him. When he pulled away, they were both breathless.

"That was incredible," Morgan said before giving her another light kiss.

"I agree. I don't think I've ever been kissed like that." As badly as she wanted him to touch her all over, she wasn't ready to go that far yet.

"Are you ready for me to mark you?" Morgan asked. She put her hand on his cheek and smiled.

"Yes. Will you stay here with me tonight? I don't want to sleep alone." Adelma bit her lip nervously. She was sure the family wouldn't mind one more person.

"I was hoping you'd ask. Of course, I'll stay." Morgan answered. He couldn't think of anything better than sleeping with Adelma in his arms.

"Good. I'm ready." Adelma tilted her head and waited. Morgan kissed the area before biting. She closed her eyes when she felt a slight pain, but it quickly passed and turned into pleasure. She'd felt nothing but pain for so long that so much pleasure made her feel like she was going to explode. When Morgan pulled back and licked the area, she was sure she would orgasm.

"Are you okay?" He asked, seeing her glassy eyes.

"I'm great. Are you ready to go inside? I want to go to bed," Adelma asked, feeling extremely tired all of a sudden. She hadn't slept well in years, but she had a feeling she would get a good night's sleep with Ty purring in her ear.

Morgan stood up, and they went into the house. Adelma could barely keep her eyes open, so Morgan picked her up. Valerie showed Morgan to her room, and he told her he was staying with Adelma. He could tell the family was happy that he was there with her.

Morgan left her in the dress she had on, only removing her shoes. He didn't want her to wake up thinking he was taking advantage of her. After she was under the quilt, he removed his jeans and shirt and crawled into bed with her. Wrapping Adelma in his arms, he spooned her while Ty purred soothingly. Morgan fell asleep with a smile on his face. She may think he was saving her, but she was saving him, too.

Down the hall, Jade and Bill were in her bed. She figured even if they were waiting to have sex, they could still sleep together. He was already asleep, but she was having trouble. All she kept thinking about was what Lisa said about her birth parents. Now, she couldn't get the thought out of her mind. Did she have blood relatives out there somewhere? Tomorrow, she would have Morgan take her blood. She was curious to know where she came from.
