Santiago's Pov

Santiago's POV

Silence has never been this loud, the sound of Camilla and Mirabelle giggling always filled me with some joy. I understand why Mirabelle chose Camilla over Adrian, I too would choose him over anyone, that's the kind of bond we have. However, the bond Camilla and Mirabelle formed is surreal and stronger correlated to what Adrian and I have. Mirabelle's dependency issues have never been addressed and Camilla likes to take care of people, she likes having someone lean on her. I've noticed it while watching them, they have become entirely dependent on each other, the relationship that Camilla craved with Adrian is what she has with Mirabelle. The relationship Mirabelle has sought to possess is exactly what she has with Camilla, it's deeper than what meets the eye, they can't happily exist without each other so it's not surprising to me that Mirabelle sought after Camilla and most likely found her.

My connections in Dark Moon have not reported any sight of Camilla or Mirabelle, so I know for a fact they're not in Alpha Ryan's territory but something tells me they're together. Part of me is worried about them but I also know that as long as they're together, they'll always be fine. Those girls will burn the world down for each other, Camilla and Adrian might be mates, but Mirabelle is her true-bond soulmate, the moon goddess owed her that much after pairing her with Adrian I suppose.

Adrian.

Yesterday was Adrian's nineteenth birthday. I had only gotten a glimpse of him once, when he had me cancel his birthday celebration. It's something his assistant should have been doing but since he never hired one, I was more than happy to cancel the damn thing. No one is in a celebratory mood, especially not with everything that has happened here.

In the early hours of today, I had to put Adrian to bed. He was beyond wasted, calling out to Camilla and asking her why she betrayed him but the moment he went to sleep, he continued to whisper her name to himself, asking her to stay and hold me. Even a blind person can see how much he misses Camilla, he knows he screwed up but he's not ready to man up and own up to the mistakes he made. He wants her back but if everything Michelle told me was true, he will have to break his back trying to win her forgiveness this time.

Angel provoked Adrian's reaction to Camilla, I can't tell if it was intentional or spontaneous but I do know she caused it. Adrian and Angel have always had this relationship between them, call it a special bond but it always resulted in commotion. Mom, Adrian's mother, has never been an enthusiast of the relationship they share. Something about those two together always pisses her off, but it's no secret they can't seem to part with each other no matter what happens. In the past, just being friends was great for them but then, they wanted more, acted on impulse and turned their special friendship into something more. Angel said it was now more special, I told her she was crazy, Adrian wasn't one to play the field with and she knew this but neither of them set boundaries to the alliance they'd formed.

I had asked Adrian to keep his 'bond' with Angel far from his relationship with Camilla but that never did seem to ensue. Nonetheless, I thought he'd change when he ended it all with Angel, the friendship included but I still caught him checking up on her secretly, confidentially making sure she wasn't alone and had a friend, yet never going anywhere near her.

The night of the catastrophe, Angel's cries could be heard from outside the pack house and Adrian had gone to console her. It infuriated me, he was there for her when she needed him but never there for Camilla when she truly needed him. Nonetheless, I understand they're both grieving the loss of their child but I highly doubt his mother will take this news likely.

I just picked both my mother, his mother and Racheal back from the airport. They were to arrive last night, on his birthday but there was a subtle inconvenience with their flight.

Rachael is mumbling about how excited she is to see Camilla and Mirabelle again, she can't wait to tell them what happened to her during her visit to our mother's pack. Mom and Mother are both excited to meet Camilla, Mom seemingly more excited than anyone to meet both of her sons' companions. She's talking about how grown she must be now and how wonderful it is that Adrian finally found the happiness he deserves out of life.

I haven't responded to a single question about Camilla or why Adrian didn't pick them up. I've silently avoided those queries and moved on to a different topic, my sister Rachael being an extremely useful pawn in my diversions. One question and she gets to bubbling non-stop about things that only she understands. Mom has caught on to my using Rachael to avoid her questions but she's said nothing of it, she's simply nodded, watching me in the rearview mirror. I've tried my best to contain myself and not give any hints whatsoever about her missing child and already selected favorite daughter in law.

Pulling up to my favorite parking spot in the garage, Rachael lets out a groan of approval. “Yes, now I can speak to Cami and Belle, they've both been off Instagram, Molly too.” she sighs, “Are they grounded or something cause-”

Mom chuckles, her hand slapping Rachael who frowns at the gesture. “

Grounded?” Mom laughs, “Who would ground my daughter in-law? That girl has never been grounded a day in her life.”

I don't respond, I have no retort for this, Adrian created this mess and he's going to have to correct it by himself and I can't wait to see how he explains driving both his mate and sister out of the house. I safely park the car, sure to take their bags out the back of my car, well the ones that would fit at least. They came with so many bags, I had to book another car to bring their luggage here. Rachael is the first to exit the car, mindlessly heading for the house.

“Rae, get your ass back here now.” I groan in annoyance, shutting the trunk of my car.

Rachael stomps her foot, walking past Mom and Mother on her way back to me. I grab as many suitcases as I can, leaving two for her to bring into the house.

When I make it inside, I hand the bags to some girls, sure enough girls fight over who gets to take the bags. Everyone is already trying to get into the Fire Luna & Gasoline Beta's good books, it's not a secret Mom and Mother are hard to please, mostly Mom but I've never had that issue. Rachael is sprinting behind me about how tired she is and how terrible of a brother I am as well as something about being glad she's moving away. Whatever that is about, she's not going anywhere until I see that nursing degree in framed.

I don't bother to stop her as she goes upstairs, excited to meet Belle and Camilla. My feet choose a different direction, heading to the kitchen for a strong beer before I go up toAdrian's room which I know for a fact he hasn't left since morning.

The fridge is the only interaction I have while in the kitchen. I grab myself a beer and open it with my mouth, spitting the lid on someone on the ground. I don't want to be part of the confrontation and nagging he gets handed so, I drink two beers and another, just to pass time. I'm dreading the moment my beer finishes because I don't know how long Mom's anger towards Adrian will last or how easily Mother will attempt to protect Adrian and smother him with love and affection while Mom does the opposite.

“Fuck it,” I whisper, my hand relinquishing the beer bottle on the table.

My feet move at a slow and debatable pace up the stairs and all the way to Adrian's room. I can't tell for sure if the nagging has passed because no sound leaves this room but either way, I'm going in. My hand grips the doorknob, pushing the door open. My head peaks inside to check how safe it is for me to enter, it's safe. I let out a sigh of relief, walking inside with the sound of my shoes clicking with the floor tiles the only audible sound.
