Rachel's POV continues
I spit the coke out of my mouth and onto Ciara, “Sorry.” I tell her, Ciara watches me with disgust, wiping her face clean of my spit in disgust.
“Is there anything you can do right? I ask you to do one simple thing that even a three year old can do but you disappoint again, what is wrong with this smartphone generation.” she asks, her hand running through her hair.
“But I warmed the water, what's wrong with it?”
Angel counters, making some people gasp. Her bravery should know some bounds, especially with the fire luna.
“What's wrong with it?” she mimics Angel, making the toddler on her hip giggle. “You over-boiled it, but if I were to ask you to draw my eyebrows or paint my nails and put some lipstick on you'll do it in a flash. why? Because all you're good for is applying thirty-two layers of makeup on that face and wearing Peruvian Hair on that head that doesn't know how to do simple things like boil water.” she asserts, I wince on Angel's behalf.
Angel clenches her fist, instantly regretting her false bravado. She tries so hard to impress her but never gets in her good books because she won't leave Adrian alone. “I'm sorry Mom, I shouldn't have over boiled the water.” she mumbles.
“Hmm, just teach the kids how to do that zombie makeup. You have no business in the kitchen, you can barely boil water and you were striving to mate Adrian. Thank God you're not his luna, otherwise this pack would be doomed.” she sighs, walking out through the back door.
The moment Mom Ximena leaves, the entire kitchen busts out laughing, the laughter clearly taunting Angel. “Shut up,” she screams.
“Oh honey, it's not our fault you overboiled water.” Molly taunts, batting her eyelashes at Angel.
This only makes us laugh harder.
I reach for the oven, checking on my cookies, they're done. My hands grab the tray, quickly placing it on the kitchen counter. “See Angel, if Camilla was here they would be too busy with her instead of us.” I tell her, blowing at my hands which are mildly burnt from the heat.
“Racheal is right, this is your fault it's your fault.” Veronica sneers.
“My fault, how would that be my fault she's an ass to me?” Angel counters.
I sigh, my hands reaching for the cooled cupcakes. “It is your fault they're out here noticing all the wrong things we do because you just had to blame Camilla for pushing you down the stairs.” I tell her, taking a bite of my cupcake. It's good, Michelle really is good at everything she does, I wonder how that felt growing up with her as a sibling.
“Oh, so you think I pushed myself?” Angel asks, her face turning red as she glares at me.
Unable to speak with a mouthful of cupcake, I shake my head. I don't think she pushed herself and I find it hard to believe Camilla pushed her. It's all everyone is talking about, it's just her and her delusional lover that believe in the bullshit of Camilla pushing her.
“No you can't push yourself, we all know just how bad you wanted that child.” Veronica snorts, “But get over yourself Angel, Camilla did not push you.”
“So then, who did, the wind?”
Molly giggles, her hand banging on the counter. “Yes, that makes more sense. The wind must have jabbed you because that girl is too innocent to do such a thing. I would rather believe an eight or six year old child shoved you down the stairs before ever believing Camilla pushed you.”
“Exactly,” Veronica counters. “ Thanks to you, Alpha is unhappy and so is the fire luna. She's bored without Belle to nag and if she is unhappy, we are all miserable.”
“Why do we have to pay for your mistake, you selfish ass whore!” I hear Vivian shout from somewhere, not bothering to correct her on cursing.
Cecily walks past Angel, nudging her with her shoulder when she does. “Because of you, our luna is gone and you know what, I never realized how much that girl did for us. She was doing so much on the sidelines, we never acknowledged her, she was so humble. She didn't even demand to be addressed as Luna like other women do. She was comfortable In her spot and you just couldn't mind your business?”
Angel's eyes widen, her hand raising to stop Cecily. “Hold up now—”
“Hold up?” Molly, interrupting her sentence. “You should just shut the hell up because it's your fault, any other normal person would have said she tripped instead of blaming the luna. You fucking broke the rules whore, even if she had really pushed you which we all know she didn't, you weren't supposed to babble.”
“Oh, I should have let the death of my child go unpunished all in the name of what?” Angel counter, folding her hands over her chest, her foot restlessly tapping the floor.
“Girl, the making of that child should not even go unpunished,” Veronica teases, making me and a few others laugh.
I laugh
“We are sorry you lost your child, I know how it feels to lose a baby but it still doesn't change the fact that you ruined our lives. You should have protected Camilla's honor but you dragged her name in the mud.” Amelia says from beside the refrigerator.
“How do you over boil water?” Veronica snorts, a short silence following. Obviously, all of us are trying to see how that's possible. “Anyway, I hope Adrian finds Camilla or Belle at the very least. I can't go through this hell of recooking and recruiting.” she adds.
Belle is stubborn, she wouldn't come without Camilla judging by what I heard happened before she departed. She has been itching to get away from Adrian and his protective antics towards her and this is the grandest opportunity, and with good reason.
“Oh trust me, Angel will even go looking for Camilla herself because this is only the beginning of hell for her.”
I seethe, my gaze fixed on Angel. I see her flinch, which makes me grin in return, she will wish she never started an affair with Adrian.
