Camilla's POV continues

“Flattering me won't excuse your behavior, and you know, you didn't have to protect the peace between Adrian and I.”

I almost gag at the sound of his name itself, I hate him. I don't think I've ever hated someone this much, to the point where the mere mention of his name makes me gag.

“You didn't take your problems head on, you're hiding.”

“He's persistent and I don't want to see the damned asshole.” I frown, crossing my arms over my chest.

In return, Ryan smirks slightly. “Don't worry about him looking for you because he won't be able to, considering I did a number on him. His wolf betrayed him and I took advantage of that however I'm not proud of myself but it was worth it, I wanted to snap the bustard in half for hurting you but I didn't, his mother asked me not to kill him if hadn't stopped me he'd be “Oh, he's alive? How disappointing,” I huff.

“Don't worry, he isn't in any condition to walk much less run after you, it won't take much to wipe him out for good. But even if he can walk, I'll make sure he doesn't find you.” he asserts, earning a nod from me. A few months ago, his words would have sent shivers down my spine, fear deep within me, but I felt nothing just now. I should feel something but I feel nothing, I'm numb.

“But,” Ryan begins once again, gaining my full attention. “You want him dead, you don't have to get your hands dirty, just say the word and I'll do it myself. The boy is getting on my nerves, I will finish him off with my bare hands.”

“No,” I instantly reply. “Don't, I don't want you to get his blood on your hands for me, he can live, death isn't enough atonement for all the shit he put me through.”

Ryan nods, “Anything for my princess, Alpha Camilla hmm has a nice ring to it don't you think?”

“Probably.” I shrug, my hand drawing circles on the armrest.

“Come here and give me a hug, I miss your hugs.” Ryan says, watching me carefully. I rise from my seat, settling on the armrest with my hands wrapped around him. My body relaxes, I like this, I've only ever felt safest in four arms and by far, this is the safest I feel.

“Are you sure you're okay princess?” Ryan asks, his hand stroking my hair.

I'm not okay, I think I need to cry, but the tears just won't fall at all. I do a quick mental scan, trying to find a reasonable excuse for my exhaustion and evident restless demeanor. “Yes, Raquel saw me.” I tell him, pulling away from his embrace.

“Who is Raquel?”

“The blonde with brunette highlights, Mikel's mate, she's friends with some Golden Hunters.”

“I see, ask Arielle, she'll handle the girl for you.”

Arielle, another person angry at me.

I shake my head, unsure of where to begin with her. “Do you think she'll forgive me?”

“Without a doubt you're her baby she can't stay mad at you nobody can you're too sweet,” he says. His hand pinching my cheek playfully.

Sweet?

That was what I used to be, now look at me, nothing but a cold blooded psychopath is what I am. I've done so much wrong against Arielle, I don't know where to begin with rectifying them.

“Arielle is looking for you,” Ryan tells me. Ending the debate in my head.

I frown, I want to ask how he knows she's calling me but it's the pack bond, every Alpha has one with his or her people, except for me. I want to ask Ryan how he does it but my pride won't let me, it's dragging me, and so, I proceed to Arielle and the girls.

I settle in the open seat, next to Ashanti, placing my phone on the table with the other phones. None of them said a word to me, Ashanti included. Everyone seems focused on the tv show, an interesting choice but not my cup of tea.

My phone vibrates on the table, my hand instantly reaching to grab it because I'm breaking the binge watch rule of no phone calls, unless otherwise. I peek at the screen, Kingston's name is displayed on there.

Without thinking twice, my finger swipes to answer the call. “Hello,” I murmur, my tone blank.

“Umm, Alpha Mommy?” Karla's voice comes through, instantly softening my own.

“My darling, how are you?”

“I'm not okay,” she instantly replies. I can already picture her with a pout on her lips.

“Why not, did something happen?”

“Yes,” she sighs. “You left and I miss you big.”

“I miss you too baby,” I laugh, attaining everyone's attention instantly.

“When are you getting home, I have a surprise for you.” she giggles, shushes someone in the back.

“Oh yea, what kind of a surprise?”

“If I tell you, it won't be a surprise Alpha Mommy.” she laughs, her laugh accompanied by the sound of her running.

“You're right, I'll be home soon my darling.”

“Mmmm,” she drags out. “How soon?” she asks, her voice breathless from the running she's been doing in the past minute.

“Karla, I need my phone.” Kingston demands from someone with earshot.

Okay, so that is who she was running from, I see. I smile to myself, King and Karla fight over his phone everyday, they both own half of that phone.

“Daddy shush,” she grumbles, making shush sounds to him.“Mommy, you there?”

“Yes my love,” I chuckle. “ I'll be home by tonight or tomorrow morning before you wake up, then you can show me your surprise, how does that sound?”

“Bueno,” she sings. “Te amo, bye.”

“Yes baby, Te amo también.” I tell her, waiting for the line to go dead, and it does. Placing my phone down, I meet Ashanti's querying gaze.

“Who are you seeing?”

“Ashanti!” everyone groans.

“Ugh, I tried.” She retorts, throwing her hands up in defeat.

A laugh escapes me, I should have known she'd do this, perhaps I did, it was simply a matter of how long before she broke character. I gave her a twenty minute duration, and she nearly beat it, with seven minutes to spare

“Well, are you?” Tamina asks.

“Something like that,” I shrug. An idea creeping into my mind presently, I think I'm going to have some fun with it.

“Is it the guy from last night, Kingston? He's cute.” Arielle says, her arms crossed over chest to let me know she's still mad despite speaking to me.

“No, it is actually a she.”

Everyone gasps, watching me with wide yet approving eyes and they nod.

“Really, what's she like?” Vanessa inquiries, her head still in a nod frenzy, it almost makes me want to laugh, break character before I even begin to play it out.

“She's pretty, she's smart, not only does she understand Spanish, she speaks it and she has the sweetest laugh I've ever heard.”

“Aww, that is so cute.” Arielle pouts, her hands now griping her chest, supporting it like her heart is about to fall out.

I rise, stepping away from them a little.

“Yes, she's cute and she's four years old.” I grin, giving them the news at the latter moment to grate their hopes of me having a love story. Lately, it has become a habit of mine, sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it.

“Fuck this,” Arielle grunts.

“You have some nerve,” Tamina says, throwing a pillow at me, which I catch.

“Hey,” I frown. “I'm an Alpha, I can't be assaulted like this, my pack will swallow you whole.” I tease, trying to use my Alpha tone to faze them.

In response, they all look at each other and laugh, throwing every pillow with their reach at me while snickering merrily.

“You are not at Silverline, you're here and guess what? My husband is Alpha around here so oops,” she says, tossing yet another pillow at my face, a feigned frown on her face.

“I am Alpha everywhere,” I tell them. My face pulling into a feigned scowl, one that Ashanti falls for.

“Sure,” Ashanti replies, leaning forward in her seat. “Of course, you are but we will still whack your ass for teasing us like that.”

I nod, “Okay, fair enough.” I say, my feet backing away. “But, I need a five seconds headstart, I'm a guest after all.” I argue, to which everyone nods in response. Putting their pinky fingers out simultaneously to indicate the beginning of the five second Head Start I wanted.

I begin to run, screaming for my brother Ryan when I do.
