Mirabelle's POV continues

“So,” Camilla clears her throat. “Will you give me a pill or surgery?”

Maya sets the equipment down, “Your tests came in yesterday and they don't look good, you haven't been taking proper care of yourself and Alpha, terminating the pregnancy at this stage is risky there might be complications.”

“What kind of complications?

“Well, for starters, she might not be able to have kids in future and she could lose her life in the process, if she bleeds out.”

My heart drops as Camilla takes my hand, this is a sign, I won't let her get an abortion. “Don't worry, that won't happen even if it does, it's okay.”

It's okay? Her dying is okay?

“I advise you to keep the baby, if you still don't want it after birth, we here at the hospital find adoptive parents. Many couple's struggle to have kids-”

“No,” Camilla cuts her off. “I want to go through with it right now, I've given it thought and I know I don't want a baby.” she says, her tone low at the end.

I know she is trying to prove she hates Adrian by having an abortion but this is her baby too, she's dreamed of this moment since before Adrian put his hands on her, and now that it's finally happening for her, she is not reasoning.

“Fuck, can you give me a second?” she shoots off the bed, “I think I need to throw up.” she lets out, her hand covering her mouth as she heads for the bathroom.

Once I hear the sound of her emptying every meal she's had today, I turn to Maya. “Whatever you do, don't perform the abortion.”

“What?” her face furrows.

“Simply give her some vitamin or anaesthesia pill but whatever you do, please don't harm her baby. I can't risk losing my friend and Silverline needs it's Alpha please, Maya.” I whisper to her, folding my hands together for her.

Maya moves closer, trading her gloves.

“What? If I don't do it she'll kill me. Yesterday, she made it clear I should do my job well or there will be consequences.”

“Camilla won't do anything to you, trust me, if anything, she'll thank you for doing this one day and don't worry about her killing you I'll handle her.” I whisper.

Maya shakes her head. “I get where you are coming from but no, I can't do that, the best I can do is do my job and do it successfully so she doesn't have any complications after.” she whispers, her gaze drifting to the bathroom door.

“I'm begging you, this is my best friend, if she has an abortion guilt will haunt her. Maya kindly do me a favor, no do the world a favor and help me save her and her baby's life.” I whisper yell, listening for the sound of Camilla finishing up in the bathroom.

“Fine,” Maya gives out, causing a smile to spread on my lips. “But she'll notice the baby is still growing, she'll have all the pregnancy indications. It is impossible not to feel the baby, soon it will start kicking.”

“Yes, yes but you're a doctor, find a way to explain it, tell her she'll have cravings and nausea, tell her it's a side effect or whatever.”

The bathroom door creaks open and I fling Maya a pleading look and she nods.

“Good, because you'd rather have a problem with Cami than me, things will be easier for you if you do as I say." I whisper to her, and it's the honest truth. I'll have a lot of help handling Camilla,

“Hmm, what's going on?” Camilla encounters, settling back on the bed.

“The doctor, was just telling me the process of the abortion.” I blurt out a lie that had my stomach sinking.

“I'll make arrangements for the surgery right now.” Maya tells us, “Excuse me.” she murmurs, walking out, her feet moving a little too fast paced.

“Can I?” I ask, soon as Maya is out the door. Camilla nods, laying down without questions. She knows what I meant despite not finishing my question. I grin, my hand reaching for the tube and squeezing it onto her flat stomach, repeating step by step what I saw Maya doing.

“So, that's a baby, it doesn't look like it.” I sigh.

Camilla laughs, “I know, it's so small.”

I deliberately put the sound on, enabling her to hear the heartbeat. It startles her, her upper body jerking up from bed. “This is seriously the dopest thing ever, that's a strong heartbeat.” I murmur, watching a smile curve onto her lips.

“Turn it off,” she whispers, sliding off the bed. Grabbing her dress off the floor in a hurried motion, did she change her mind?

The door to Maya's office opens, revealing her and a nurse, a young woman who if I'm right is an intern. “Here you go Alpha,” Maya says, extending a bottle of water to Camilla which she takes without hesitation. “Zania,” Maya begins, trying not to look at Camilla as she speaks but at me. “She can have you prepped for surgery in fifteen minutes and if you have any questions at all, ask her.”

I bite my lip please, sharing a look with Maya, one that says, "please don't let me down Maya".

“Oh,” Camilla nods.

Zania as Maya introduced her gestures to the door, leading Camilla outside, her hospital gown on and dress still in her hand. She's not thinking right, it's evident.

“Do not worry, I won't do it. I'll simply provide her anaesthesia and some resting prescriptions and I'll try to find medicine that won't do harm to her or the baby but will make her weak for a little while, so ensure she takes her vitamins.” she tells me, as soon as Camilla and the nurse are out the door.

“Maya,” I breathe, my lips curving into a smile. “I owe you one.”
