Santiago's Pov

Alpha's Hated Mate

Santiago's POV

Yesterday, I knew something wasn't right, that's why I wanted to go back to the hospital, and thankfully, mom forgot her phone so I had the opportunity to go back. Upon entering Adrian's room, I was shocked, he was sitting up by himself, his assigned doctor giving a thorough exam.

My first logical reaction was looking for Doctor Katy, but I was informed she no longer works at the hospital, she was transferred to another hospital and yesterday was her last day.

All of this seemed strange to me, but what was more strange was not seeing a single bruise or scar on Adrian, the motherfucker had the same flawless skin he did before beat up. Adrian didn't have any useful information to give about the doctors we left him with. Mom wasn't keen on knowing too much, all that mattered was Adrian was okay. His doctor discharged him five minutes after I walked in, there was no need to keep him under observation.

The celebratory mood lasted only a few hours around Midnight Saints, Mom called for a meeting this morning. A meeting with our high rank pack members to decide what's best for Adrian and our pack. It's been three hours into this meeting and safe to say, we're not getting anywhere. We keep going back and forth between mom's decision and Adrian's decision of going against it. Adrian is adamant on staying home despite losing his wolf.

“Adrian, please consider it at least,” Mother urges, for the hundredth time.

“No Gabby, I am not asking him to go to Crix's lane, I'm telling him to go to Crix's Lane. He needs the help and guidance, if not, how will he protect and serve this pack to his best ability?” Mom argues, her gaze veering to him.

Adrian turns to me for help, my hand massages my temples and I shrug, tired of going back and forth.

“Allow me to say something on this matter as well?” Michelle finally speaks, I was wondering when she'd say something about the issue. She's been quite the entire time, watching the debate unfold, three people have been defending Adrian, and I thought she'd be among them but she hasn't said anything to help him or against him.

“Please, go ahead.” I retort, desperate to hear her take on this. Michelle is very logical with her decisions, I'm sure her statement will bring us a solution or direct us towards one.

“Alpha Adrian,” she begins, veering at him until he gives her his undivided attention. “I understand why you don't want to go to Crix's lane, I wouldn't want to go either.” she snorts, “In fact nobody here would go, raise your hand if you would go to Crix's lane.” she says, her gaze studying everyone at the table. No hands are raised, Michelle grins at the sight, leaning forward to rest her hands on the table.

“See, no hands. I'm not saying you should go, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, it sucks there.” she sighs, ignoring the death glares mom is shooting at her. “But, I am going to tell you if you connect with your wolf, you'll have a better chance of finding Camilla.” she tells him, reclining in her seat. A smile playing on her lips, bobbing her head at him in a slow motion.

Smart, I didn't think of playing the Camilla card. This is why I was eager to hear her take on this, and it was worth the three hours of waiting if you ask me.

“Fine,” Adrian gives out. “When do I have to go?”

“The training begins on the fifth of every month,” Aleister notifies him.

“And when is the fifth?”

“Let's see, today is the second and it's Sunday so the fifth will be Wednesday.” I tell her, my gaze shifting to him.

“But, you can leave today. I made all the arrangements for you to leave this evening.” Mom asserts.

“If today is the second, then yesterday was the first.” Adrian says, rising from his seat abruptly.

“Yes it was, what's wrong?” I ask, waiting for an answer but I don't get one. Adrian curses underneath his breath, sauntering towards the door.

“Adrian,” Mom calls out, flinching when the door slams itself behind him. “What just happened, didn't he agree to go? What's wrong now?”

“Umm, I believe yesterday was Camilla's birthday.” Michelle tells her, her hands toying with the notepad she's scribbled nothing on.

Everyone murmurs, I curse underneath my breath, tensing in my seat. “Ugh, I'll handle it.”

“No, it's better you leave him alone.” Mother tells me.

“He is going to do something shitty, Adrian planned on proposing to her yesterday but things took a turn, obviously.”

“Marriage proposal or what?” Michelle chokes.

Princeton chuckles, “Of course marriage Michelle, what else can he propose a truce, or business?”

Michelle rolls her eyes, “After everything he had put my sister through, yeah. A truce would be nice.” she says grins, flipping Princeton off where mom can't see.

Now that I think of it, she seems calmer now compared to the days when Camilla first left, she might have something on her, whatever it is, I need it.

“Michelle,” I begin. “Is there something you're not telling us, do you know where she is? If so please speak up because I can't stand seeing Adrian looking like he is attending a funeral everyday.”

“I do know anything about where he is but I do know my brothers well enough to reckon if they didn't find her, Ryan would have come back to burn this pack to nothing but ashes.”

“Aside from praising your brother, what else are you doing?” Calvin asks, from across me.

“Calvin shut the fuck up, everyone but your dense ass understood clearly what I was saying. But since you're so dense, let me put it in stupid for you, Ryan knows where Camilla is. He found her, she's safe.” Michelle tells him, emphasising every little word to mock his intelligence.

Calvin opens to say something but halts when mom makes a disapproving sound. “Stop this bickering, and as for Camilla, Adrian will find her the moment he gets back from Crix's Lane. With his wolf, it will take him minutes to find where she is, if not her then Moon. I'm sure he can live without her for what, thirteen months?”

He can, but he won't be okay without her.

Rising from my seat, I excuse myself, going in search of Adrian. Everyone is looking at it from a different perspective but me, I'm looking at it from his perspective. I don't support anything hurtful he did to her but I know more than anyone he tried. Adrian tried for Camilla, and blew it all in one tantrum. He might have hurt her but he loved her more, he still does.

I find Adrian in Camilla's room, the very room that previously belonged to Lauriana, his late sister. Adrian lost her similar to how he lost Camilla but what hurts even more is Camilla isn't dead, he just drove her away.

The picture in his hand makes me a little sad. It's Camilla, sitting outside on the foyer with her book in her hand. It's one of those pictures that he takes of her without her knowledge.

“Are you okay?”

Adrian sighs, “Yeah I realize that everything is my fault but I miss her, and I miss my sister.”

“I know, and I know that they'll be back soon. You just need to go to Crix's Lane, connect with Hunter and the steps that follow will be easy. Also, the thing is you can still go to school and this time full time, don't they have an institute there?”

Adrian snorts, “That's where the original Medical university is stupid.”

“Great,” I clap. “You can transfer from online learning to physical.”

“Yea,” he mumbles, looking back at the photo in his hand. “I wonder if Mia and Moon are going to the same university this year or if they chose to go next year.”

I shrug, I too wonder that because Racheal started early last month and she was a month late.

“Adrian, it's gonna be alright, she's your mate. Camilla will come back, she can't stay away forever, the mate bond is stronger than that, you know that.”

Adrian nods, settling the picture of Camilla back on the stand. “Speaking of mates, when do I get to meet yours again?”

“Probably never,” I snort.

“Just what is it that you're afraid of Santiago?”

I shake my head, nothing scares me, it's everything about it. “I'm afraid she might not love me, and I don't want to take her away from someone who does, she seems so happy.”

Adrian groans, “Well, you'll never know the truth unless you try. Find her, and hold on to her like I should have done with Camilla, but I was a fool and I lost her.”

“You didn't lose her, She'll never love anymore like she loves you. I've seen how she is with you, that kind of love only happens once.”

“Still, she deserves better than me,” he argues.

“Okay, then why don't you go ahead and be the man you think she deserves?”
