Santiago's Pov

Santiago's POV.

When I saw Camilla I thought thank God because the search was over but it seems I couldn't be far from wrong. I let Adrian chase her while I finished up on my phone, stalking my mate like an obsessive lunatic.

She still has the same boyfriend, her Instagram is filled with pictures of him, more so than her own. It enraged me but sometimes, you have to let things be especially when all memories are lost.

It took me a while before I decided to follow them out the hallway and when I did, I couldn't find either of them, until I went outside. That's when I found Adrian, with no sign of Camilla. We've looked for her for awhile, with no success at all.

“I think she's gone,” I tell him. “I can't smell her anywhere nearby.”

“She must be hiding somewhere, she hasn't gone anywhere.” Adrian lets out, unable to accept the fact that he has lost her once again. That slap I witnessed proved she isn't just mad at him, she is done with him, all adoration she looked at him with has been replaced by spite and no one but him is to blame for this.

As we stand here helplessly disputing his next move, a limousine drives by, the royal stamp on the side of the car. The window rolls down and it's queen Sheryl, the woman has the power to invade dreams.

Every royal has a power that enables them to help people, she once visited Adrian in his dream and advised him to act right. She is the lady in blue, for some reason, whenever he needs advice, he always goes to her. It's a pattern he has accumulated since he was a child, and ironically dragged me into it.

I sigh, watching her grin. I've never been more happy to see the woman, she's right on time and absolutely needed by both Adrian and I.

“She's not here.” Sheryl grins, her head slanting towards us. “Your Luna is gone, why don't you get in and we could have some drinks together.”

Her offer isn't one we pounder over, we both enter quickly, one after the other. I settle in my seat, with Adrian tense next to me. Queen Sheryl pours some whiskey into two glasses that just happen to be sitting there and hands them to us.

“You know,” she begins, her hand raising her glass to us before bringing to her lips, chunking it down in one go without so much as flinching “I told you she was broken and you were tainting her even more than she already was.”

“I know, I let my anger take control of me and I screwed up real bad.” Adrian admits, swirling the wine in his glass.

“Oh, Adrian, you brought this fate upon yourself and it's too late now.” she says confidently, asserting that Adrian will never be able to get his Luna back.

“He could still apologize and bring her back,” I argue. Unable to accept this could be how it ends with them, Camilla and Adrian aren't supposed to be apart, that makes one too many fated mates suffering.

“Hmm, but she won't. Adrian, you've done the world injustice by throwing her out.”

“The world, Injustice?” Adrian inquires, confusion revealing on his face.

Queen Sheryl nods, toying with her empty glass. Her hand circling the top slowly. “A woman scorned is worse than the devil.” she says, her gaze fixed on the empty glass.

“But Camilla isn't like other women,” I counter. Keeping in mind everything she's done, I don't see a resemblance between her and other women when it comes to their dramatic ways, whereas everyone is unnerved, she's calm.

“I do hope that's so,” she says. Finally looking up from the empty glass to me then Adrian. Her expression is undecipherable like always. “I hope she doesn't destroy you, any woman in her place would do it. I advised you to break old habits, she is a rare germ of a luna that girl. You got a mate that several men pray for, your Beta included and yet, you let your bond go to waste.” she murmurs, a sigh escaping her lips. “What else did I say to you?”She asks, her question directed towards Adrian.

I may not be able to read her expression but I know for a fact something is wrong, she's either scared or afraid but trying so hard both emotions behind her pearly white smile. Adrian takes a minute before he responds but he does, “You said, not to break her heart, it can never be fixed.”

“Yeah.” she nods, grinning wider but I can't seem to help but notice something sinister behind her smile. She can't tell us but I'm certain she knows the entire outcome of the situation, her sisters may have told her, at least the one that has the gift of seeing the future, Queen Amaya.

My hand reaches for his head, smacking him hard. “You knew this and yet, you broke her heart time and time again?”

Queen Sheryl leans into her seat, her hands setting the glass down into the whiskey bucket. “Your story is complicated, she chose you despite everything but you never did choose her when you needed to have. See Camilla can only ever be two things to you, your lover, or your antagonist. There is no in-between and right now, she's your worst opponent.”

Adrian leans forward, worry and distress evident, “I wasn't thinking straight.” he explains, “I simply need a second chance to make this right, I admit my reaction was hysterical but I had just lost my son, one I had big dreams for. Yes he was unexpected. I was going to love him either way. As for Mia, I do still love her and I shouldn't have treated her like that even if she did push Angel I over reacted.”

“Shut up,” I snort, shaking my head at him. It took so long for him to make this realization and now we are in this mess with his mom because if him. “You've had your second chance and you fucked it up, plus the third, the fourth, the fifth, you've had so many chances with Camilla and honestly its better if she stays away for a few days.” I sneer.

“A few days?” she chuckles, “Every second that she is away from you is harder than the last but she's stubborn and strong enough to fight it, fight it until you're nothing but a suppressed memory but she knows it will never happen. However, it doesn't mean she can't pretend it happens, I wish you all the best especially now that–” her hand flies to her mouth. “Oops, I shouldn't ruin the surprise but you're in for a real dainty, everyone is.”

“What?” Adrian and I both ask in unison, our gaze momentarily meeting before we both face Queen Sheryl.

“The face of the person who a myriad of people ache to see and will kill to see, you–” she pauses, her attention shifting to her phone on the empty space beside her.

She picks her phone up and frowns at something on it, settling it down only to turn to us with a different expression.

“Oh, look at that.” she grins, “It is time for me to depart.” she says, feigning sadness but a playful satisfactory grin overshadows her feigned expression.

“I see, what brought you these ends, Queen Sheryl?” I ask, chunking down the rest of my drink, not prepared to let it go to waste.

My question seems to make her beam, “Oh, just the council.”

“Is anything wrong?” Adrian asks, his tone actually indicating worry. Did it have to take Camilla breaking his arm to knock compassion into him?

“You will soon find out, everyone will be talking about it if not already.” she grins, evidently hiding a deeper, more satisfied grin, proud even.

Adrian nods, our goodbyes follow shortly after. We exit the car, leaving her to business as we tend to our own. The stroll back into the dealership is silent, I can tell Adrian is contemplating so many decisions right now.

Luis, the guy tending to me is sorting some papers up against the hood of my new convertible, I have a few but it seems purchasing them is an addiction I always feed on impulse. Luis isn't alone, he's with three new people I can't seem to recognize, they're murmuring while he sorts the papers.

“Almost done Beta, did you find luna?” he asks, halting both tasks to look at me.

In response, I shake my head. “No, is that your topic of conversation?”

He hastily shakes his head, “No, it's about Takishini Pack.” he replies instantly.

I let out a growl of annoyance, I can't stand that goddamn pack nor the appalling activities they shamelessly get up to. “What did the deranged pack do now?”

“They were attacked, their warriors are dead and that's not even the gist.” Luis pauses, his face falling, a flash of fear unmistakable. “They seem to have captured the wrong people, my boyfriend's cousin is from there and currently in the hospital as we speak. He was the one that narrated to us how one of the captives wiped up half of the pack, setting fire to the region where they'd keep hostages. Luna Charity was the first to die, and Alpha Hayden followed right behind her, with a few of his men scrambling to their death before him.”

I'm taken aback by the bomb he dropped on us but still, my expression remains neutral. I turn to Adrian who shrugs, also unable to connect the dots. Alpha Hayden had formed a strong Alliance with nearly every pack, despite most being in immense disapproval of his actions.

Adrian had tried to kill Alpha Hayden once, the man decided to come to Midnight Saints waging war against us. Adrian attacked him, leaving nearly all his men dead and him in a very critical state. If not for my interference, he would have perished that day, however, he did leave his mark on his skull.

“Whoever killed him did a good thing, perhaps his beta would have been Alpha. I heard great things about him once, it's a shame he passed for the sins of his Alpha.” Adrian says, earning himself a snort from me. I too I'm here passing for his sins with him, because until we find his luna, no one shall know peace back at home. His mother will make sure of that.

“But no, Beta Kingston was here to collect a car he purchased months ago. I assumed he was dead too and I would benefit from reselling the car but no, he is alive and kicking. Plus,” he grins, holding the papers in one file. “Someone from his pack called him a cheater, and a traitor.”

Oh, it's good their Beta survived, like Adrian said, we've heard good things about him from a lot of people, mainly women who seem to be huge fans of his physic and "caring heart."
