Camilla's POV continues
My eyes are heavy, I hear voices in my earshot, muffled voices, I can barely hear a word straight. My eyes flutter, trying to stay open but drowsiness strives to consume me once again. I fight against it, opening my eyes once again but they fall heavy. However this time, I get a peek at two blurred faces towering over me, discussing something.
“Maybe we should call a specialist, she's been like that for six hours.” someone whines, a familiar voice but I can't remember whose it is.
“No, I know exactly what I'm doing, trust me for once. You know she's top five on my priority list, I wouldn't risk her life for anything too.”Another familiar voice says, but again, I can't tell who it belongs to.
I try to open my eyes again, this time nearly succeeding, a gasp escaping someone. “See, she's waking up.” they say, their tone high pitched, similar to the ringing in my eyes before everything went blank.
Alas, my eyes stay open and I prop myself on my hands, sitting up hastily, too hastily it makes my head spin all over again. I run my fingers through my hair, analysing the faces in front of me, Aunt Amaya, Aunt Sheryl and Kendall, all eyeing me with worrisome expressions.
“What-what's going on?” I ask, running my hand through my hair.
“You passed out in the car and she said I should bring you here.” Kendall tells me, casting her gaze down soon as she words her sentence.
I nod, but still unsure of why I'm here. Kendall could have taken me anywhere but the hospital, she knows I'm not to be at hospitals or public places where I'm likely to run into a golden hunter. I take a look around the room, it's awfully bright from the furniture, to the decor.
“Amaya, ask someone to bring Thumbelina some water.” Aunt Sheryl says, studying me. “Sweetened, and take Kendall with you.” she adds.
Aunt Amaya doesn't argue, but Kendall stays unmoving, waiting for my order, and I give it, nodding at her, only then does she move.
The moment the door closes behind Aunt Amaya and Kendall, Aunt Sheryl takes a seat next to me. “So, what were you doing that got you so tired you passed out, scaring your assistant, me, Amaya, and Hades too.”
“Hades?” I voice, “Why would he be worried about me?”
“You're his sister, isn't that enough reason for him to worry? I know you're yet to know him but you've won him over, Hades doesn't normally care for anything, and when he does, he never shows it but today, you should have seen him when I told him you've been asleep for over three hours. All color drained from his face and he checked you for a pulse, he left right after because he was embarrassed I caught him with his big boy mask off.” she laughs, nodding to me for an answer.
“Oh, I was simply running errands with my assistant.” I lie, averting her gaze. It's not a complete lie, it was an errand.
“I saw it thumbelina, I saw you and Kendall going to the hospital.” she tells me.
“Are you spying on me Auntie Sheryl?”I ask, not finding any other reasonable justification as to how she knows where I was.
“Of course not,” she snickers. “The thing is I don't only access people's dreams, I occasionally enter minds too.”
Arching an eyebrow at her, I frown. “So you're a mind reader now?”
“No, but when I held your hands in mine,I was able to see your memories. I can only do it to a person once in their lifetime but since you're family, I can do it more than once.” she explains, making my head spin and heart race at the thought of her witnessing what happened to me in that hospital room.
“I aimed for today, primarily skipped past the copulation and romance.” she lets out, her tone playful.
I roll my eyes, falling back into the mattress. “But why would the goddess even give you such a gift?”
“That's what I said,” she laughs. “But it's fun, except you make it real hard to flip through yours. I didn't get to see past you staring at him in that bed, what happened after?”
“I don't know, I just rubbed my finger on his wound and it disappeared.” I tell her, flipping onto my side for better body amenity.
Her eyes widened, “What disappeared?”
“It healed,” I sigh. “ Kind of like how my wounds heal but in seconds, without a trace. Then I ended up with both hands on his chest, it felt as if lightning struck me for I don't know how many minutes, it hurt and when I pulled my hands away, I was tired and weak and I think he panted but I was too shocked to stay.”
A smile forms on her lips, “So that's your power, you're the first in over four thousand years in our family to get the gift of healing.” she says merrily.
“Gift of healing?” I echo.
“Yes, it enables you to heal people, the same way you did Adrian. You can do it with anyone but it'll drain your power and energy. In my opinion, it's the most unpleasant gift. I advise you to keep this between us, when people find out they'll need you to heal their relatives, their friends, but you can't mess with destiny.”
“Don't speak in riddles.” I scowl.
“I mean you can't use that gift to heal people any chance, some wounds heal without help. You should use it when the person is critical and only if they deserve to be healed, every time you use your gift you will pass out because it takes a lot of energy.” she explains.
“I don't want this voodoo, I'd rather believe fairies exist.” I tell her, rising from the bed.
Aunt Sheryl giggles, “Don't worry, you'll be fine. At least you don't release poison from your finger nails like your uncle.”
I gape at her, not asking which uncle but wondering what kind of shit I was born into. For once, I wish I was normal, this Royal family seems to be too much for me, I saw my veins glow, that's something I will be remembering for a long time.
“Thumbelina, why did you go to see the man you claim to hate?”
“I don't know.” I tell her, and it's the truth, I'm yet to figure out just why I went to see him.
“Because you're still in love with him,” Aunt Sheryl says, earning my attention. “You can deny it but you love him, that's why you went to make sure he wasn't doing that bad, you could have easily disconnected his oxygen supply or smothered him to death but you didn't.”
“Because I am not a murder.” I scowl.
“Hmm, you've killed enough people in the past three months, you qualify for the term.” she argues.
“Whatever,” I snort. “I don't know why I did it but I'm not in love with Adrian anymore, he's in the past just like this conversation should be.” I tell her, scratching my arm.
“Sleeping with someone else doesn't change your feelings for him. You are sleeping with your Head Trainer to prove you don't give a damn about Adrian, you're both delusional.” she snickers bitterly. She's a fan of Adrian, so I would expect that, but as my Auntie, family comes first and right now I should come before her loyalty to him.
“Aunt Sheryl, my personal life shouldn't interest anyone this much, and by the way, I truly like Kingston.” I tell her, nearly blushing when I say his name.
“I know, but he isn't the one that holds your heart and no amount of sex will change that.”
I'm about to defend myself when the door soundlessly opens, Aunt Amaya and Kendall walking in.Kendall has a glass of water in her hand, one that she hands to me and I consume silently.
“Well, it's been fun Aunt Sheryl but I have to get home.”
Aunt Amaya nods, “Hmm, sure but not in those clothes. You should freshen up and I'll find you something to wear.” Aunt Amaya offers.
I smile at her, I like looking at her. Aunt Amaya looks a whole lot like her twin sister, my biological mother. They weren't identical but they do share some features. I don't know why I missed it before but I always associated her face with that of my mother's.
