Mirabelle's POV
Alpha's Hated Mate
Mirabelle's POV
Camilla being pregnant was a shock but with Adrian's baby? Well, that fraction of it leaves me with no surprise, I'm more surprised that she had no idea she was pregnant for this long, we left Midnight Saints three months ago, she'd have to be at least three or four months pregnant, perhaps five.
Camilla and Adrian treated sex like it was air, the only break they gave it was when she was on her period. I expected her to be pregnant long ago, we all did, Michelle the most because well, she's Michelle.
Regardless of whose baby it is, I'm happy for her but I also understand she's scared and instead of speaking her fears out to me, she wants the not-so-easy way out. If it had been Kingston's baby, that too would freak her out but it would be easier for her to process. Camilla always wanted kids, she even speculated so many names for children. I know she still wants that baby and I won't let her ruin this for herself.
Last night, I talked to Kingston because I had no idea what to do. His initial suggestion was to let Camilla make her own decisions but after hearing the purpose of my worry, he said to make the decision I think is best for her, that if i do it with the right intentions things will turn out great, but he was more partial to his first suggestion.
Perhaps I'm beginning to be selfish, but I want what's best for Camilla. Yesterday was crazy, now everyone is walking on eggshells around her, more so than prior to yesterday's initiation.
Not only did Camilla mark six out of thirty people, but she also sent nine to the emergency room. Throughout the fights she took part in, I stayed worried for her and her baby. I shouldn't have let her fight but what was I to do? She was mad and needed to blow off steam or she'd have been an ass all day for no reason.
I'm in my office, thinking of how to approach Camilla, while my assistant Jenna and I give the new pack members their personalised identification items with a silverclaw on them and writing down their jobs, and other essential details in their files. Looking up from the file in my hands I sigh, shaking my head to forget Camilla for now.
“So you're a highschool teacher with no years of experience?” I ask my question to the girl sitting across from me.
In response, she nods. “If you want a job, you can talk to Camilla's assistant and she'll talk to someone who can find something for you but...” I pause, cut off by the creak of my office door opening. It's not the door opening that alerts me, it's the silence that fills the room. I've known only four people in my life that have that effect on a room, one my Mom, two My dad, three Adrian and four, Camilla.
My gaze instantly meets hers, my hands setting the file on the table as I study her quickly. She didn't leave her room this morning but now she appears to be dressed, grey sweats with a white crop top, she looks like a teenager now, absolutely no effort into her outfit but she looks good. That glow I've mistaken for her skincare routine meeting me, her pregnancy glow. Her face is free of make up and her hair is in a messy bun. “I need you,” she tells me, using the words that have either one of us dropping whatever it is when uttered by the other.
I bite on my tongue, “I'm in the middle of something.”
Camilla rolls her eyes, “Jenna, ask Kendall to help you with this. Mirabelle, I need you.” she repeats.
I rise from my seat, taking only my phone with me. I hate this but there is nothing I can do except be with her because she needs me, that's what friends do. But I still wish I was Tee tight now, seems like she's best to deal with Camilla when she's headstrong but I'm not telling her if Camilla doesn't tell them.
“Where were you, where did you go last night, and where are we going?” I ask, closing the door behind me.
Camilla sighs, “My room, the river, and the hospital.”
“To do what?” I counter.
“You know exactly what, and that chinese food I ordered left me throwing my lungs up.”
“Camilla you...”
“No, let's not discuss it, you said you'd support my decision so support it.” she argues.
I frown, my face shifting to the staircase, Kingston is at the bottom of the stairs.
“Hey Beautiful,” he greets.
“Hey.” she grins, walking past me to give him a hug, her hand resting on his back.
“You look more beautiful without make up,” he tells her, studying her.
“Yeah?” she frowns, her lips pulling into a smile. “Thank's, I thought you liked my makeup.”
“Only the mascara,” he winks, his gaze veering to me. “Belle, no remark? What's wrong pretty?”
“Nothing,” I shake my head. “Let's go Camilla.”
“Where are you going?”
“Umm, to run an errand.” Camilla retorts instantly, his gaze back to her. Camilla moves, blowing Kingston a kiss.
“Well, have fun. Does either one of you want anything? I'm going to the mall for some sports gear.” Kingston says, his hand scratching the back of his head, trying to read my expression.
Camilla is quick to respond, “Chocolate.” she tells him, following right behind me.
Ah yes, now I get it. Camilla never had an affinity for chocolate but lately, she's been having a very unhealthy amount of chocolate, mostly liquid chocolate, she adds it onto whatever she can find, her Aunt's cookies are the victims half of the time.
Camilla is driving us, with not a word from us since we left the pack house. Camilla is playing her favorite song, humming to it while I stare at the cars ahead of us. I don't know what hospital we are going to but I know for a fact I don't like what's going on in her mind.
My hand reaches for the volume controller, lowering the volume until I hear Camilla groan in annoyance, pregnancy hormones also explaining the newly found short temper of Alpha Camilla. “Cami, why do you want to do this?”
“You don't know how revolted I feel Belle, I am pregnant not just with any man's baby but his. I'm not going to have his baby, he ruined my life.” she spits, her hand gripping the steering wheel tighter. “I hate him, I hate this baby growing inside me, I don't want it to come into this world like this, I would very well strangle it to death with my own hands before I let him ruin my life again.”
“You don't mean that,” I snort.
Camilla smirks, “I do.”
That sends chills down my spine, my gaze settling on the road, all the while. Only when she stops the car, parking by the side of the road and rushed out the car do I tear away from it. I watch her, shortly returning to the car with a familiar tiredness on her face. I never read much into it before but she could have if she wasn't so busy, she'd know the changes on her body.
“Fuck,” she curses, her hands getting the car to start once again.
“Are you okay?”
“No, I hate this feeling, I hate being sick all afternoon. I thought I was coming down with something but shit.”
“It'll pass, morning sickness isn't forever.”
Camilla doesn't respond, and that worries me. I reach for the volume controller once again, this time adding more to it so as to kill the silence with us. This makes the drive to the hospital short, and soon as we walk in, we are shown to Doctor Maya, right on schedule.
Everything has moved quickly in my eyes, I was still contemplating what to do and now, Camilla is laying in a hospital gown, with me sitting beside her while she stares at the ceiling fan.
“With this, we will be able to tell how far along you are.” Maya says, her gaze fixed on the monitor screen. “Ah yes, here we go, there's the baby right there.”
That grabs Camilla's attention, her head slants towards the monitor, the rest of her body unmoving. “It looks like an alien,” she whispers.
Maya giggles, “Hmm, this little alien, seems to have relocated to your planet approximately thirteen weeks.”
“That's three months.” I ask, but it comes out more of an affirmation.
“Yes it is,” Maya affirms.
My gaze settles on Camilla, her gaze eyeing the screen with a bewildered expression. I can tell she wants this baby, she loves this baby but her fake hate for Adrian is clouding her vision. I can't see her in pain ever again, she deserves happiness and this baby just might be her happiness, it just might be her happy ending.
