Mirabelle's POV
Alpha's Hated Mate
Mirabelle's POV
Much like my best friend, my strength has been questioned a number of times. My brother's like to treat me as if I were glass, the most fragile kind of glass and it sickened me. When I was a little girl, I would simply take it as 'I'm special.'
But no, they thought I was weaker than them and everyone else, that's why I wasn't allowed to try for Zeta and when mom said I could, Adrian kept dragging the date of the competition. I thought he would be impressed with how I did by making it this far but it changed nothing, to him I'm still his little sister who doesn't grow in his eyes. I swore to myself, I would become Zeta whether it changed how he or anyone saw me, I was going to do this for me and I did it.
Earlier today, around 10:00 am I became a Zeta and it might be the best day of my life. The competition was tough but I succeeded, I was among the lucky three. Today I proved to everyone I am not just Alpha's little Sister, I am more than that but most importantly, I proved to myself I was strong enough to accomplish anything I set out to achieve. It felt good, plus now I have four trophies to prove it. I've had beauty pageant trophies to boost my ego whenever I felt ugly in my skin but now for every time I'm questioning how strong I am, I can look at my trophies and signed certificate by Alpha Adrian himself.
My brother's approval matters little compared to that of the Alpha but since he is both, it means twice as much. When I won the sword fighting competition, I saw how proud he was.
Martin might not have been here to watch it but Santiago and Adrian were here, and they looked so proud of me. When Adrian handed me my certificate, he gazed at me with pride and affirmation. Santiago was the same when he gave me my trophy for best and quickest rider, however my archery needs some work but points from all other activities had me in the number one spot.
My favorite part of the day is tonight but nothing comes close to the moment I was assigned my first job. Seeing that the pack doesn't encounter any war, I will be keeping Camilla safe. This means I can legally hit Angel or whoever and pin it on protecting luna actions, well according to pack rules at least. I love this job because I get to be with Camilla all the time until College. We applied somewhere far from here but I have reason to believe Camilla will change her mind because of her attachment to Adrian. Nevertheless, I don't mind, we will deal with it when the time comes.
“Belle, I left my credit card.”
I turn back to find Camilla searching her purse. “No problem, I have Adrian's card here and he said to get anything you want.” I tell her, throwing in a wink for extra quality.
Camilla rolls her eyes and I laugh, she's probably thinking I abuse Adrian's cards which I do but he doesn't mind. Tonight we're having a party to honour the new Zeta's, me included. It feels so good to say I'm a Zeta, it's a feeling of high self recognition.
“Adrian needs to keep his card away from you before you spend his fortune away.” Camilla teases, finally catching up with me.
Adrian seemed pessimistic today, and yesterday too. When he returned last night, he barely talked or ate, both he and Santiago sat in silence and today, they left right after congratulating me on my success.
“Oh My God!” Camilla squeals merrily.
I follow her gaze and it lands on Luna Arielle, Ashanti, Vanessa and Tamina.
They're looking at some dresses through the shop window. Camilla dashes in their direction, her attention solely on the baby. Arielle takes a second to register who it is that is peeking at the baby, she smiles when realisation hits.
“Hi,” I greet everyone, only for them to respond in perfect harmony with a hello of their own.
“Oh my God, she's so pretty.” Camilla murmurs, still gazing at Tamina's baby. I take a peek at the baby and smile, she is adorable. She is staring at Camilla with wide eyes, “Can I hold her?” Camilla asks, pouting.
“I'm surprised you haven't taken her out of the stroller yet.” Arielle giggles.
Camilla wastes no time, she carefully frees the baby, rocking her in her arms with teary eyes. “Hey, Selena Roxanne Carmichael.” She whispers, smiling down at the baby with a smile that keeps getting bigger.
I'm happy too, Tamina went through it during the last days of her pregnancy so we're all happy little Selena is doing fine. She looks big for her age, and so curious about how she stares at Camilla. Camilla turns to me with a grin, “Do you think my baby will be this pretty?”
“Your what?” I ask.
“Is there something you'd like to tell us?” Ashanti presses, her gaze scanning Camilla's body for any visible change. Now even I am looking weirdly, trying to see if something is different or if I can smell anything on her that isn't Adrian or her.
Camilla lets out a nervous laugh when noticing the confused glares we are giving her. “I am not pregnant, I think. No, no I'm sure I'm not pregnant, I am simply referring to the future.”
Arielle lets out a sigh of relief, in sync with Ashanti.
“Good, because you're too young. You and Adrian have the rest of your lives together for this, so don't rush it.” Vanessa says sweetly.
“But when you do, they'll be very pretty. You're stunning and Adrian isn't so bad himself.” I tease, nudging her arm lightly.
“So what are you two darlings doing here?” Tamina inquires.
“Shopping for full on party outfits,” I retorted with a smile. “I made Zeta.”
“Congratulations honey, I'm so proud of you.” Arielle mumbles, pulling me in for a hug. Everyone congratulates me and asks for details, they are the best support system. Camilla places the baby in the stroller then we begin to move from store to store, in search of a hot outfit. Tamina jokes we hold too many parties at Midnight Saints and she's sort of right, we do hold a lot of parties. Maybe it's because we have too many traditional celebrations, and we celebrate a lot of things. It takes us nearly an hour to get Camilla the right dress, specially picked by Ashanti with intent to 'make Adrian cum in his jeans with just one look from Camilla".
The heels Camilla decides on to go with her dress makes her several inches taller than she is in actuality.
When we get to the pack house, we're carrying several shopping bags. Most of them are for me because Camilla doesn't shop much, we also got Racheal a few outfits since she's away visiting her Cousin's pack. Our moms will be picking her up in a few days time, mom couldn't come for my birthday but for Adrian's nineteenth birthday, they will surely make it.
Camilla is on her phone as we make our way up the stairs, she's texting Tiana. Once we're at the top, she takes another step on the flat surface, almost staggering to the ground. I'm not quick enough to help her but someone is, I narrow my eyes at her and she tsk's. “Belle, already failing at being her self proclaimed Zeta huh?”
Angel snorts, eyeing me with a smile before turning back to Camilla. “Watch your step Luna, we wouldn't want you losing your teeth or breaking a leg. It's a long way down these stairs you know.” She smiles.
“What?” I ask, because what did she just do? Angel loathes Camilla so why would she save her from falling, when she could enjoy the show instead?.
“You know how Adrian gets about his precious little whore, I mean Luna.” she presses.
Camilla doesn't give her a reaction, she simply walks away from the scene. Not bothering to look back at Angel and I having a stare down.
“See how mature Adrian's whore as you call her is? She just walked away from your attempt to start an argument and honestly, it is getting embarrassing Angel, leave Camilla alone. She is not interested in you or your drama.”
Angel grins widely, “Too bad, because my drama is juicy as fuck.”
