Mirabelle's POV continues
“You're weird.” Camilla retorts, her head nodding to affirm her own sentence.
Kingston chuckles, his hands resting in his pocket. “Alright now, ladies I will be on my way but good luck with the pack.”
My mouth opens to speak but Camilla beats me to it, “You're leaving?” she ask, sounding a tad disappointed with his statement. It's like the thought of him not being here or being here didn't cross her mind until he brought up the issue of leaving. I have a feeling she likes him, and he can easily love her too, they act like old friends despite only meeting now.
Everyone likes having him around, and he helped us over his pack. He would be killed the moment he returned to Takishini, angry people make hurried decisions which are most likely not to end well.
“Beta Kingston, where are you going?” I ask, “You betrayed your pack for us and I think Camilla and I would like it if you stayed.” I tell him, both our gaze shifting to Camilla who says nothing about it. She simply stares hard at the keys in her hand, pretending to be focused on counting them. I shake my head, now I know she wants him to stay but with everything that's happened to her, she doesn't want to come across as needy.
“You should stay here, everyone will like it very much if you stay despite their pretentious focus on keys.” I snort.
“No, I think your Alpha is sick of me by now. I am going to manage at Takishini they can't do anything to me, we have some code of ethics too despite how disastrous of an individual Hayden was.” he grins, “But I will come and visit once you've all settled.” he tells me, in response I nod.
I guess what they say is true, there's no place like home and I've seen evidence of this statement with Camilla being unimpressed by Midnight Saints and Silverline as a whole, not to mention Kingston wanting to go back to Takishini despite the risk of them murdering him.
Kingston turns, my arms cross over my chest as I watch him walk away. Camilla sighs, turning to watch him.
“You just love to plead, don't you?” she lets out, twirling the keys in her hand.
Kingston turns at the sound of her voice. “I will manage at Takishini,” she says. Her tone imitating his and evidently mocking his statement to which I approve, it was dumb declaration. “Just stay here, you're better off here,” she adds.
“Thank you for offering so sweetly to Camilla but I can't, I would be so far from work, hence useless and that's one thing I can't suffer. I relish in keeping busy.” he notifies her.
“You can be busy here.” I abruptly counter, my hands almost clapping in excitement. However, I halt, seeing my evident desperation in hoping he takes Camilla's offer.
“I think I need a trainer considering my Zeta is now my Beta.” Camilla says, her hand reaching for mine to which I offer her.
Beta pauses, looking between us. I nod when our gaze meets. “You can do that.”
“I don't know if I can take on the responsibility,” he says, his hand massaging his temple.
“Alright, bye.” Camilla replies instantly.
“Camilla,” I gasp, my hand slipping from hers.
Camilla snorts, “What? You don't expect me to beg him right? Because I will never look like a fool over a man again, I've already looked stupid begging for his love and attention.”
“When did you beg for my love?” Kingston asks, flashing that smile at Camilla.
In response she growls, “Fuck you Kingston.” she tells him, making sure to lift her middle finger at him in a similar fashion to which he smiled at her.
“Fine,” Kingston grins. “That's enough begging, you don't have to get on your knees for me. I'll stay.”
Camilla rolls her eyes, a smile creeping on her face but she shoves it back where it came from. “You're such an attention seeker Beta.”
“Likewise Luna,” he retorts. His lips already stretching into a wider grin at the obvious thought of pissing Camilla off.
Camilla drops her arms in defeat, “You know what goto Takishini, I don't want you here.”
“No,” Kingston protests, “Alpha Camilla wants me to stay so I'm staying.” he tells her, walking back to us, pausing when there's barely an inch between them. He peers down at her with a smile, “So where is my room? Mmm,” he nods to the house.
“How am I to know? Have I spiritually seen the house, aren't we seeing all this at the same time Kingston? You know what, just pick a house far away from me. If anything, one of those near the entrance of Silverline would be perfect for you.” she says, her feet backing away to create some distance between them. I like this. I like how he can easily bring out her inner child.
“Good idea, since Karla is scared of you.” he snorts, making her pause.
Her face furrows, “Kids love me.”
“Yea, sure they do. My daughter loved you to sleep,” Kingston laughs. Camilla holds a finger to him, and I know her response is about to be one to cut him deep so I clear my throat, drawing all attention to me.
“We don't have any supplies, or furniture yet.” I tell them my statement is more to Camilla than Kingston.
They both look at each other and Kingston shrugs, “There's a town near and the stores deliver here you can use my phone to order everything online and as for food, order pizza.”
“I sadly didn't consider carrying my credit card and smashed my phone was it was out of battery so I don't think–”
“Don't worry about,” Kingston cuts me off. “It will be my treat.”
“I got it, but thank you very much.” Camilla protests, not willing to accept the help from Kingston even though she knows we can't afford it right now.
“I will pay for pizza you and you can pay for furniture or whatever you need.” he argues, a smile encrypted with his every word.
Camilla roll her eyes, his hand reaches into his left jean pocket, emerging with a phone that he hands to Camilla.
The phone screen lights up and she grins, showing it back to him. “Karla is so unfortunate, her father left her in the car.”
“Oh shit,” he murmurs. Running back to the car for his daughter, I let out a laugh noticing how fast he runs.
“Cute right?” I ask, my gaze still on Kingston running.
“Yea, she's a pretty girl.” Camilla shrugs, toying with Kingston's phone.
“What the fuck? I haven't seen his kid yet, I am talking about him.”
“Oh, I don't know.” she blushes, her gaze shifting to the phone as she types in his password, it seems they've become well acquainted in the past few mins.
“I saw the way you were flirting with him,” I urge. Nudging her shoulder with mine lightly.
“Flirting with who, Beta?” she asks, eyes wide and jaw dropped. In response I laugh, shaking my head as I focus my attention back on Kingston holding his daughter in his arms. Her head laid over his shoulder with arms wrapped around his neck.
Camilla turns, walking to the main house. I too follow her, with Kingston closely behind us. Her foot kicks the door open, revealing the house. It's immaculate, grey walls gracing every corner and wall.
“Definitely repainting this black.” Camilla snorts, walking to the glass doors that lead to the lounge.
“The color is nice, but if you want to change it then we will.” I tell her, my gaze roaming the beautiful walls. The room is gorgeous in it's right.
“You like it?”
“Umm,” I begin to fumble. I wasn't expecting her to ask me about the color.
“Yes or no?” she asks, her hands pausing at the handle of the sliding glass door.
“Yes.” I reply, not sure how she's going to take it but she nods.
“Then I won't change it, but I do need a new phone.” she says, whirling around.
Her gaze settles over my shoulder and she grins, flickering her fingers in a wave motion. “Kingston, can I get a ride? I need to get a new phone.”
I turn my gaze to meet Kingston's daughter. “Hey,” I greet her.
In response, her little fingers flicker at me, her face hiding deeper in her dad's chest. Camilla was right, she's beautiful, very cute but she barely looks like her father, I'm taking a guess and saying she's like her mother.
“Just a phone?” Kingston asks.
“A lot,” Camilla admits. “But first a phone, I need to sign into my bank and shi–Stuff, yeah I mean stuff.”
