Mirabelle's POV

Alpha’s Hated Mate

Mirabelle's POV

I've put off visiting my mother for so long, seeing her again will give rise to temperamental problems. If it were up to me, I wouldn't set foot in Golden Hunters again, the place depresses me now. It's my childhood, memories I would like to keep, memories of when I didn't resent my brother for creating a devil that created so many agents.

Up until last night, I was sure I could buy myself at least three months before I went to visit her but then, she called to tell me she was feeling under the weather and God forbid she dies and I have to live with the guilt of not seeing her when she requested me to.

I know she's overly dramatic but she sounded ill indeed and I cancelled all my plans to go and see her alas. I made sure my appointments got moved to next week and woke up early, hardly early enough because Karla was already at school when I awakened.

Heading out to my appointment, I make one last stop to Camilla's room. Camilla is laying in bed with Arieya, Arieya is sleeping and Camilla is watching her sleep, a hand gently tapping her on the back. I assume this is when she's fallen asleep or perhaps Camilla is stuck in her head again, looking for answers she won't find by gazing at a sleeping Arieya.

Tapping the door frame I call out to her, instantly earning her attention.“Yes best friend?” she smiles, sitting up on her bed.

“I'm going to Golden Hunters,” I say, watching her unphased reaction. “But first,” I step further inside. “Tell mewhat's wrong with you, you're not working.”

“Nothing is wrong with me, I'm not working because I don't feel like it.” she shrugs.

“Cami, you never not feel like working and you are starring at Arieya to find stability, what's bothering you? I ask, settling down next to her.

“It's nothing.” She murmurs.

“If I could take a guess, I would say I know what's bothering you.”

“I'm not bothered,” she rises, trying to run from the conversation but realises it's her room, she can't live with an excuse.

“You have been off since you saw Adrian at Clarissa's house, what is it do you think he'll take her from you?”

“No,” she snaps. “I can't lose Arieya, she's one of the few good things that have happened in my life and Adrian can't take her, he just can't.”

I nod, sighing as I look at the nervous wreck she has become. “Don't worry, he won't try it. I talked to him the other night, he understands what you're going through and he doesn't necessarily blame you but feels like you were selfish. But still, he isn't trying to take your daughter away from you.”

“I don't– I just don't know what to do Belle.”

“Well, sooner or later you'll have to talk to him you know that? You know she's his child as much as she is yours.”

“I know” she sighs, “Stil, it's so hard for me to talk to him without trying to strangle him.”

I laugh, “I'm not surprised, you meet people and within three seconds of knowing them, you think of fifty seven ways you can kill them.”

Camilla chuckles hastily, “Yea, I have to be mature and well behaved for Arieya, it's not fair to her or him.”

I nod, an agreeing sound escaping my lips.

“I'll talk to Adrian, but he can't meet Arieya away. And, I will have to talk to Kingston too.”

“Logical,” I nod., rising from the bed. “Anyway, you're going to be seeing more of Adrian now and if you need therapy for that, seek it.”

“I wish I could see none of him.” she snorts.

I laugh, nearly choking on my laugh because I know her statement isn't entirely true, the attraction between them is inevitable, I saw it two nights a go at Clarissa's charity.

“ I think it's time we played nice with the hunters,” she sighs.

My head cocks, “You mean?”

“Yes, I'll lift the restraining order against the pack and I'll come with you.” I gasp, but that doesn't stop her, she continues. “If I'm raising Arieya with him, I guess the start should be being civil with our packs. To talk to Adrian about things, pack business first.”

“To Golden Hunters Pack? The pack that Adrian runs?” I ask, trying to clear any miscommunication.

“Yes,” she laughs. “I'm not going to enjoy it but it must be done.”

“Well then, I've gone to change into a fitting attire.” I tell her, walking away but I pause at the threshold. “Are we driving? I was going to drive.”

“No, Arieya would have screamed down this pack by then. We're flying.”

I nod, proceeding to my room to dress more accordingly for the occasion. When Camilla, King and I do meetings outside our pack, I happen to dress more seductively, using the perfume that oozes power from miles away.

However, today is the exception, I might ooze of power and threats, but I'll leave it up to Camilla to dress seductively dangerous like the epitome of death by sugar she is. Even as I choose my own outfit, I'm excited to see Adrian's face when he sees Camilla at his pack, but more so excited to witness his reaction to every man that catches a glimpse of Camilla catch a case of blue balls knowing he could have had her.

“Belle, are you in?” I hear Kingston call out, making me halt my search for an outfit.

“Come in, it's open.” I yell back.

The door opens, Kingston's footsteps echoing in my earshot as I hold yet another dress in front of me as I look in the mirror.

“I needed..” he trails off. “Going out?”

“Yep.” nod, fixing the dress back in my wardrobe and pulling out a suit. “Business meeting with Cami.” I add, holding it the outfit to my body and analyzing it in the mirror.

“I guess it can wait, good luck with your meeting and don't scare let Camilla the Alpha to a trembling point.”

I laugh, “Trust me, this one is by far the least rattled by our Phoenix Alpha, and neither is the Beta.”
