Mirabelle's POV
Alpha's Hated Mate
Mirabelle's POV
Prom was last week, the student union decided to make it the week after exams. Shitty idea if you ask me, even though we had time to prepare for Prom before this but I was still unnerved. I went with Trey but as friends.
Rachael went with her new boyfriend, a university freshman and Camilla surprised me by bringing Tiana. Everyone got wasted that night, not even Camilla was an exception, she was matching dresses with Tiana. I tried to send her the dress she bought previously but she didn't want it because it was meant to match with Adrian's suit.
Martin picked us up and dropped us home, there was no nagging the following day. I don't see much of Adrian these days, he's acting taking his education more seriously, he goes to campus often and Santiago too. The house isn't the same without Camilla, I didn't realise how dependent I was with her until I was calling her to ask her what comb I should use for my hair.
I love that she always answers my calls, my arguments with Racheal are minimal these days because we spend time sleeping or studying and when we're not, we manage to make up for the time we didn't argue and it's frustrating because we never know who is right. At least when Cami was here, she knew how to break the tie, and with zero favoritism.
I was doing fine with her departure because I still get to see her five days a week but today is the last day I'm seeing her. She has her last exam and after this, I will be seeing her twice a week or so. Half of me is ecstatic to be rid of high school and the other half is dreading the minute I part with my friend. I have noticed Raquel looking at Camilla, but not with detest, with fear.
My guess is Tiana got to her but I don't want to get involved in that so I don't bother to ask. Camilla looks happier these days, even though her social media is more active.
There's more pictures of Tiana's dog and Tiana, the other day she posted a video of Raquel and Tiana having a squabble and in the caption, she wrote "I Love me some entertainment." Raquel has made more friends at Dark Moon, I guess she is preparing herself for the day Mikel marks her or marries her.
Today I wanted to get to school earlier but goddamn Molly couldn't get ready fast enough. Molly has been staying with us since exams began, my uncle wanted her to have study buddies as well as motivation.
Molly is lazy when it comes to studying but she always gets good grades, she memorises everything she hears or reads.
If I had her memory, I'd have caught with Adrian in university by now. When Molly finally gets dressed, I drag her downstairs with much difficulty. She wants to look like a beauty pageant contestant and I am already late so no one can do it.
In the kitchen, Racheal is stuffing her face while glaring deathly at Santiago, lord only knows what it was they disagreed about this time. Santiago is unbothered by her gaze, or maybe he is ignoring it like he always does. Molly goes over to Racheal and takes a bite of her sandwich, Racheal growls in response and Molly does it once again just to piss her off.
Running to hide behind Santiago when Racheal glares at her. I laugh at their relationship dynamic.
“Hmph, you look happy.”
I take a deep breath before turning to the person who spoke, Angel. She's sitting next to Adrian in the seat Camilla would occupy sometimes.
I've been ignoring Adrian and her presence but she decided to speak to me despite me making it clear I don't want to engage in any conversation with her. I look at Adrian and snarl, for someone with a high IQ, my brother is particularly dumb. I flicker my gaze to Angel and she's grinning at me, I don't know why she thinks she can earn some points with me but she is an even bigger air head than Adrian. “I swear if this bitch says one more word to me, I’ll pull her tongue out with my fingertips and shove it where the sun don't shine.”
Angel gasps, swiping her hair off her shoulder. Her hair is dyed blonde now, a shade like Camilla dye's her hair and the ends are colourful exactly like Camilla does her hair. There is no doubt Adrian made her get Camilla's hairstyle, but if he misses her so much, why doesn't he swallow his pride and apologise to her?
Everyone at the table is still laughing at my joke when I turn to Racheal and Molly, “Lets go.”
“Won't you eat?” Santiago asks and I shake my head for an answer.
Once again Adrian's whore had the bright idea to speak. “You should eat, you'll grow skinny. Men don't like anorexic looking girls. They like a little thickness, that's why I keep it fifty-fifty for my man.”
I snort, narrowing my eyebrows at her in a confused expression. “Now I know you're not talking about this airhead.” I say pointing to Adrian and she frowns at me.
“If so, those extensions must be glued on pretty tight because you're losing the function in your brain. Adrian isn't your man in any sense, the only man you're entitled to is your son and your mate who you left for Adrian.
Now you're just a bed warmer and before you know it, another whore will replace you. It's that simple.” I smile, watching her face fall. Yep, I pressed the right button and boy am I happy about it. Angel thought she was taking a dig at me but I buried her.
“Ouch that hurt Belle.” Molly seethes.
I shrug and Racheal rises from her seat, grabbing her purse off the table. “I'm driving.” She grins.
“Say hi to Camilla for me.” Santiago grins. I don't need to look at Adrian to see how tense he becomes at the mention of Camilla, it's been happening since she left. If we mention her, he gets upset and leaves for the dungeon. I've caught him apologising to her pictures and sometimes when he's drunk, he wanders off to her room. He talks to her things but won't talk to her? Talk about issues.
When we make it to school, Camilla is already there, she's talking to Mikel and another guy, one of them is holding a book and she's explaining to them. I don't bother them, I go straight instead to the room I'm taking my exam in and take my assigned seat.
Molly is sitting with two of her friends standing at her desk. Her seat is right in front of me since her name comes first alphabetically, "Molina Ann Carter" yes, we have the same middle name. I guess our dads loved their grandmother so immensely because one of my sisters also had the middle name Ann.
Vivian walks in and I give her a high five as she takes a seat behind me. Raquel is assigned to another room along with Rachael.
Camilla struts into the classroom confidently, coming straight to me. She pauses where Molly is with a smile on her face. “Hey Molina, cute hair pins. When are you getting me one?” She frowns, tilting her head.
Molly opens her purse and hands Camilla two butterfly hair pins making her grin wider. She closes in on her and leans in to hug Molly, “Love you.” And then she's at my desk hugging me from the side, she places a kiss on my head. “I was wondering where my favorite person in the school was.”
“Just the school?” I ask.
Camilla releases me and walks to sit on my desk, “Hmph I want to say the world but you'll have to fight a lot of people for that spot.”
“I suppose Tiana is on the list?” I ask and she nods, “Nope,” I quickly shake my head making her laugh. “Seriously, I don't want to fight her. She scares me Camilla.”
Camilla laughs even harder and I join her but the truth is, Tiana scares me not in a creepy way but in an she can emotionally scar me for life with just her gaze type of way.
The chattering around us comes to a halt and I look up, there’s a beautiful ginger woman at the door, a hybrid for sure.
She’s chewing gum in a way that most boys have already nuted in their pants. She is one of the invigilators, Camilla sighs when she sees her, heading back to her seat.
