Mirabelle's POV
ALPHA'S HATED MATE
Mirabelle’s POV
I haven’t skipped school in a week, I’ve been going nonstop and usually I skip school two times a week because Adrian is usually occupied but these days he drops us on time and picks us on time.
Today, I had a maths test today and I think I failed again. The nice girl who sits next to me didn’t come. I don't even know her name. Everyone calls her the gargoyle or four eyes, which I don’t feel comfortable addressing her as.
I asked Mrs Vanderbilt how we could have a test when our classmate was upset, I was sounding concerned but really I would do anything just to get out of the test but Mrs Vanderbilt said she wasn’t coming and even if she missed one test it wouldn’t affect her grades or her performance on her final exams and that she appreciates my concern for someone that isn’t my ‘groupie’ I was offended and after knowing full well I failed her test.
I went to the library and I’ve spent more time on YouTube watching videos of SpongeBob than actually studying.
Someone drops in the seat across me, I peer up to find Raquel. “Hey Belle.”
“Do you hear that?”
“What?”
“The sound of me saying fuck you!”I whisper yell.
“Come on Belle.” She scowls.
“No talking in the library.” I whisper pointing to one of the many posters on the library walls.
“Babe, how long do you plan on doing this? I am your best friend. I miss you. Let's make up again.”
She’s annoyingly persistent. I scowl at her, “You’re not my best friend Rachel is.”
“Ouch that’s hurtful.” She pouts, bringing her right hand to her chest.
“So are you using me to sleep with my brother?” I deadpanned.
She tilts her head, her eyebrows pulling together, “Wait, that’s Nina I have a boyfriend.” She snaps.
“Right.” I smile.
“Can’t we just go back to being us?” She begs.
“Ahhh!” I sigh. “Fine I do miss those overly pink cookies you bake me.”
“Yay!” She squeals.
Raquel and I are great friends and she's a good person most times, she just likes to be in control just like with the new girl, she thinks she might lose her mate to her because she's the contrary of her and they're from the same pack and he has a pet name for her when she has to force him to call her ‘Babe’.
I think it has to do with her parents, they compare and make her compete for their love and affection with her sisters or cousins and it's ruined her as a person but I try to help her.
“I have witnessed you being extra pissed off lately because I am giving you such a hard time but don't you think the fake period was a little mean?”
“I know and I feel bad about it but she deserves it for taking my Mate from me, he chose her over me.”
“Mikel didn't choose her, your mate will always choose you over anyone he just wants you to learn how to be nicer.”
“Well we'll see.” She sighs. “So what are we doing today?”
“History homework.” I growl.
“Let’s just pay someone to do it.”
“Raquel, You know it wouldn't hurt to actually do your homework yourself instead of paying someone.”
“And you know I do our homework by myself at night.”
“I have always known you are a sucker for old things starting with men.” I tease
“Mirabelle.” she gasps. We both laugh and the librarian shushes us instantly. My phone vibrates on the table and I sigh.
“I have to go, I will call you.” I say clutching my book.
I rush to my locker and meet Racheal there. she's already unlocked it, note to self change the combination because Racheal acts like my locker is hers too.
“What is it, why are you smiling? ”
“Nothing, I just talked to Raquel.”
“You know Mom hasn't come, only Santiago came and he is in a meeting with the principal.”
What? Principal's office, am I in some sort of trouble that I don’t know about?
“Relax, you're not in trouble and here take these, they're heavy that's why I put them in your locker, that's mine, Yours, Liana Green, Felix Richmond and Camilla Mia Burton. Since you're still class president, it’s your job to keep them. Also how you've managed to keep that position is beyond me considering we were absent most days.” She shrugs.
“Okay, but do we have any Camilla in our class.” I say getting the books from the locker.
“Maybe she is one of the new girls, those twins.”
“Brenda and Carol? They aren't new, they came at the beginning of the school year.” I laugh at her lack of notice.
“Whatever. Anyway I feel uncomfortable with Adrian not keeping tabs on us, Tiago isn't as good as he is at it.”
“Are you kidding me? It's great that he's too busy to babysit us.”
“I know. I even got to know that cute college boy better, he's taking me out on a date on Sunday, so I will need you to cover for me. But what I'm trying to say is it's not Adrian's style.”
“You're right.” I sigh.
“Shoot I almost forgot, that cute guy Jackson is throwing a party and Vivi told me Janice told Candy that Jackson invited us.” she squeals.
Perfect timing Adrian, too perfect. I have been feeling Jackson for three months now but he wouldn't really give me the time of day and I'm not one to wait for what I want, I take it. “If my crush is there, I'm there too and thank heaven's Adrian isn't around to stop me.” I smile, already picturing an outfit in my head.
We went out to wait for Santiago by his car but to our surprise, we found him leaning on his car. We got in the back seat and I'm relieved to put the books down, my arm was beginning to hurt. “What is the file for?” I ask peeking into the front seat.
Santiago looks back, “Adrian.” He grins.
I can’t stop the snort that follows, “Adrian doesn't even go to this school and he never did, so why would you need a file from Winter Bloom Academy?”
“Since when are you all up in my business, that's mom's job.” he says, strapping the file to the Passenger seat
Racheal and I look at each other before bursting into laughter.
“Dude what's in that thing?” I inquire.
“Exceptional, Utterly valuable information and part of my Beta duties so it is strictly confidential.” He sternly says.
“Hey, umm Racheal and I have to go to a friend's place for ummm an assignment.”
“No. Tell your friends to come over.” He says starting the car.
Racheal pinches my thigh and I yelp, “Come on, we will be back before nine.” I assure him, hoping he will say yes.
“Tell you what, since it’s for school, I will run it by Adrian and if he agrees, you can go.”
“Adrian? Yea forget it, we are failing this class.”
“Maybe just maybe he'll be in a better mood when he sees what I've got for him.”
I look at Racheal and she shrugs, “Okay.”
We lean back into our seats, like seriously are you kidding me Alpha Adrian of all people? I miss my Mom, she lets me go to parties as long as I don't miss curfew but lately I've been stuck with my overprotective, highly feared Alpha brother who doesn't give a shit about my social life.
Even if my mate were to find me, they wouldn't come close, they would fear Adrian snapping them in two halves and feeding their remains to the bears and blood to vampires that still feast on blood. I hope Mom comes soon she is the only one who can convince Adrian he listens to her and only her.
