Mirabelle's POV

Alpha's Hated Mate

Mirabelle's POV

Camilla and Kingston talked me into agreeing to get the kids ready for tonight's event. Clarissa invited us to her pack house where she's hosting a charity, with entertainment for children. Camilla didn't want to go but since Clarissa is an acquaintance of hers, she had to go.

I've noticed she's not in the mood to go out these days. A few days ago she came home distraught, she locked herself in her room for a few minutes and emerged a paranoia person.

I asked her what happened yesterday and she finally told him, with much persuasion she was able to tell me the reason behind her newly formed paranoia whenever Arieya is gone from her for a few seconds, Adrian. Of course it had to be him, nothing affects her these days, but he did, ten minutes back into her life and he's stealing her peace again.

King and Camilla went to pick up her dress at the last minute, they promised me they would be back in a few minutes but they've been gone for nearly an hour. Camilla is the only one that can handle her daughters but luckily, I've picked up a few tricks from her and exercising them makes it easier on me. After getting them ready, I had them sit in their playroom with the tiger, not allowing a sound from them as punishment for using up my bath bombs.

I hear Arieya giggling, making me switch my gaze to her. She's got her fingers in her pets mouth, it pretends to swallow them by closing it's mouth and opening it again, making Arieya laugh. But still, it's a dangerous game.

“Arieya, would you stop putting your fingers in Rissa's mouth?” I sigh.

“Playing.” she retorts, withdrawing her hand and wiping it on the carpet.

“No,” I tell her. “You're not playing, you're in a timeout, so quit it before I put Rissa in her cage.”

Arieya pouts, crossing her arms over her chest in a fit of rage. “You're so cute when you're mad.” Karla teases, trying to tickle her but Arieya moves, settling herself where Karla can't reach her.

“Hmph,” she scowls, her gaze fixed on the wall ahead. “No estoy hermoso.” she grumbles.

“I love you Arieya,” I tell her.

“I love you too!” she yells.

I laugh, Karla joining me too. The thing with Arieya is she will never leave an "I love you" hanging, she will always respond to it, no matter how mad she is, she could be crying and still respond to it. “Tia Belle, can I go to the bathroom?” Karla asks.

“Yes, be quick and wash your hands.” I tell her.

Karla nods, hoping up from her seat, she goes out, Arieya frowns, watching her leave. I snort, earning myself a softer version of her mother's signature glare. Shortly after Karla leaves, Kingston arrives, making Arieya break character. “Daddy!” she squeals.

“My big girl,” he smiles, taking her into his arms. “You look so pretty.” he praises, placing a kiss on her cheek.

“Where's Camilla?” I ask.

“We ran into Hades and Tiana, hitched a ride with them. They'll drop her off at Clarissa's.” he tells me, stroking Arieya's hair.

“Oh, okay. I guess we'll be seeing her there then.” I rise, going to search for Karla in her room. She's wiped her hands on her dress, the wet stains evident on the material so I make her wear a different dress, but equally as pretty and similar to Arieya's.

These days shopping consists of getting most items in two sizes, one for Arieya and the other for Karla because both whine about who has the better dress or top. I assured Camilla it was merely a sibling thing but she wasn't having it, she ruled out that option and now, they find other petty things to argue about. With Arieya's extensive vocabulary, and bilingual pattern, she makes a good argument against anyone and anything.

****************

The drive to Clarissa's was short, thanks to Kingston taking a shorter route I only now found out existed. Camilla was outside when we arrived, she didn't want to go inside alone so she waited for us. We've been here for merely thirty minutes and she has expressed her displeasure with the party. Today is cupcake night with the kids, we bake cupcakes and see who can decorate the best ones.

Camilla prefers it to this gathering, and she's been very vocal about it to me, insisting if she wanted to chat she would have stayed home and had a conversation with Karla and Arieya or locked herself with me, in my room. The room was awfully chatty for her taste, even from the outside you could hear people chatting but when she walked in, some silence was formed, adrift in energy to say the least.

“I don't like this much either,” I confess, swirling my wine glass.

Camilla snorts, her version of "told you" as she gazes straight ahead. I've noticed her watching the room, she's been studying each guest here, making mental notes on each one. I too have been doing the same, it's become a habit, reading people like Camilla does. I've found it helpful at times, it's a great skill in my opinion.

“Camilla,” I hear Alpha Clarissa say. Both Camilla and I divert our attention to her, offering her our biggest smiles.“I just saw your babies, they're such perfect little ladies.” she grins.

“Sometimes,” Camilla snorts. “Don't put anything past them.”

Clarissa laughs, taking her warning as a joke. “Beta, I have someone who wants to meet you.”

“Really?” I coax.

Alpha Clarissa nods, “My niece. She's a huge fan, she's at the kids party.”

“I would love to meet her.” I tell her, my gaze shifting to Camilla who shrugs.

“Go ahead, I'll mingle with the egotistical beings in here.” she sighs.

“Camilla.” I warn.

Camilla raises her hands, a laugh escaping her and Clarissa. “I won't crash their spirit, I promise.” she winks at Clarissa, strolling away to survey the room up close.
