Chapter 10

I managed to avoid Alpha Jeremiah the rest of the day. I pretended I wasn't feeling well, and my mother brought me dinner in my room. It was a small victory, but I needed it. I needed space to think, to clear my head. His presence had been overwhelming, and I couldn't handle it right now.
The next day, I felt a wave of relief when I heard that Alpha Jeremiah had gone to sort out some business with his pack. I couldn't help but smile. This was my chance to breathe, to enjoy some peace.
That night, the sky was clear, and the moon was full and bright. I decided to take a walk. The night air was cool and refreshing, and I felt more at ease than I had in days. I wandered through the forest, the moonlight casting silver shadows on the ground. It was so beautiful, and I felt a deep sense of calm.
As I walked, something inside me started to stir. It was a feeling I couldn't quite describe, a sensation that was both exciting and terrifying. My heart began to race, and I knew something was happening.
Suddenly, I felt a surge of energy rush through my body. It was powerful and overwhelming, making my knees buckle. I fell to the ground, my hands gripping the earth as a strange warmth spread through me. My breathing became shallow, and I felt a tingling sensation all over my skin.
My bones started to ache, and I could feel them shifting. It was painful, but at the same time, there was a sense of release, like something that had been locked away inside me was finally breaking free. I cried out as the pain intensified, but I couldn't stop it. I didn't want to stop it. This was my wolf, awakening at last.
I watched in amazement as my hands began to change. My fingers shortened, and my nails grew into sharp claws. White fur sprouted from my skin, soft and thick. My limbs twisted and lengthened, my muscles growing stronger. I could feel my senses sharpening, my hearing becoming more acute, and my sense of smell heightened.
My face elongated into a muzzle, and my ears moved to the top of my head, becoming pointed and sensitive to every sound. My teeth grew longer and sharper, and I could feel the power of my wolf surging through me. My vision changed, becoming clearer and more focused. I could see every detail in the moonlit forest, from the smallest leaf to the tiniest insect.
I fell forward onto all fours as my body completed its transformation. I was now a snow-white wolf, just like my hair. The ground felt different beneath my paws, and I marveled at the strength and agility I possessed.
I stood there for a moment, adjusting to my new form. Everything felt so vivid, so alive. The scents of the forest filled my nose, and I could hear the rustling of leaves, the chirping of crickets, and the distant calls of nocturnal animals. It was exhilarating.
I took a tentative step forward, testing my new legs. I was a bit wobbly at first, but soon, I was running through the forest, the wind rushing past me. I felt free and powerful, a part of the wild.
Running under the full moon, I felt an incredible sense of connection to everything around me. This was where I belonged, in the forest, under the moon, as a wolf. It was as if I had finally found a missing piece of myself.
I ran for what felt like hours, exploring every corner of the forest. I chased after rabbits, splashed through streams, and howled at the moon. It was the most incredible experience of my life.
As the night wore on, I felt a pull to return home. I made my way back to the spot where I had transformed, and slowly, I felt the change reverse-it felt so natural. My bones shifted back into place, my fur receded, and I was human once more. I lay on the ground, exhausted but exhilarated. My body ached, but it was a good kind of ache, the kind that comes from pushing yourself to the limit.
I stood up and looked around, feeling a deep sense of accomplishment. I had finally awakened my wolf, and it felt amazing. I knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in my life, one where I would have to learn to balance my human and wolf sides. But I was ready for it.
I made my way back to the house, my mind buzzing with everything that had happened. I couldn't wait to tell Aunt Amara. She would be so proud. But for now, I needed rest. I climbed into bed, my body still humming with the energy of my transformation.
As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't help but smile. I had faced my fear and come out stronger on the other side. And even though I knew there would be challenges ahead, I was ready to face them. At least one good thing had happened this season.
The next morning, I woke up feeling more energized and excited than I had in a long time. The memory of my transformation under the full moon was still fresh in my mind. I couldn't wait to tell Aunt Amara and my parents about my wolf. They had been waiting for this moment as much as I had, and I knew they would be thrilled.
I got ready quickly, putting on a light blue dress that flowed around me as I moved. I brushed my hair until it shone and put on a bit of lip gloss. I wanted to look my best when I shared the big news. As I made my way downstairs, I felt a surge of happiness. Everything seemed brighter, more vibrant. My senses were sharper, and I could hear conversations and the faintest rustles of movement in the house.
I followed the sounds of my parents' voices to the hall. As I entered, my father, Alexander, raised an eyebrow at me. My mother, with her warm smile, asked, "Astrid, why do you look so extra happy today?"
Just as I was about to break the news to them, Alpha Jeremiah appeared at the doorway with his signature smirk. "Astrid, you do look happy. What's the great news" he asked, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. It's as if he knew, and that made my heart race.
My smile faltered, and I immediately closed my mouth. I hadn't thought this through. The sight of him made my wolf stir, and I could hear the word "mate" screaming inside my head. I cleared my throat, forcing myself not to growl or mention that word. I couldn't let him know. He would take me away.
"I, uh, I'm just happy because the painful headache I had is gone," I lied, smiling awkwardly. I cleared my throat again to keep my voice steady.
My father looked at me with concern. "Are you sure that's all, Astrid? You seem...different."
"Yes, father, that's all," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I guess I just feel a lot better today."
Alpha Jeremiah stepped closer, his gaze never leaving mine. "Are you sure there isn't anything else, Astrid?" he asked, his voice soft but insistent. His presence was overwhelming, and I had to resist the urge to step back.
"I'm sure," I said firmly, meeting his eyes. "Just feeling better, that's all."
My mother put a hand on my shoulder. "We're glad you're feeling better, sweetheart," she said, but I could see the curiosity in her eyes.
I needed to get out of there before my emotions betrayed me. "I think I'll take a walk outside," I said quickly. "The fresh air will do me good."
"Of course," my father said, though he still looked puzzled. "Just be careful."
"I will," I promised, and with one last glance at Alpha Jeremiah, I hurried out of the hall. Once I was outside, I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.
That had been close. Too close. I needed to be more careful. I couldn't let Alpha Jeremiah suspect anything until I figured out what to do. My wolf was still restless, and the pull toward him was stronger than ever. I groaned of all the people 'he' had to be my mate! My heart was racing. I couldn't let him take me away he was up to something despite him being my mate. I could feel it.
I wandered through the garden, my mind racing with thoughts of what had just happened. I couldn't believe how easily Alpha Jeremiah affected me. It was like my entire being was drawn to him, and it scared me. I had to keep my distance.
