Chapter 32

We left Alexander's pack earlier inorder to start the process of capturing the traitors.  We needed to be five steps ahead of them and with Sharmas help we were really ahead-the witch was very reliable. Sharma and I had our own history so although she wasn't too excited to see me she was still bound to do whatever Alexander asked of her.

In the dimly lit council room, Roman's stern expression bore the weight of disappointment as Ezra, one of his most trusted council members, was escorted in for questioning. The air was thick with tension, and the urgency of the situation hung palpably in the room.

Romans gaze was unwavering as he addressed Ezra, "You've betrayed this pack, Ezra. Betrayed me." The words echoed through the room, leaving an uncomfortable silence in their wake.

Ezra, his eyes downcast, remained silent, seemingly resigned to face the consequences of his actions. The gravity of the betrayal weighed heavily on Roman's shoulders.

Rya entered the room, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and pleading. "Roman, please. I know he messed up, but he's my mate. Don't hurt him," she implored.

Roman's disappointment deepened, but he nodded solemnly. We were all shocked by the news but we didn't have time to talk about all that at the moment. Roman sighed"We won't harm him, Rya, but he needs to cooperate. We need information to save our packs and the children."

Ezra, feeling the weight of Rya's eyes on him, hesitated before finally nodding in agreement. "I'll talk."

As Roman leaned forward, his tone hardened. "Start talking, Ezra. Who's involved, and what's their plan?"

Ezra began revealing the names, providing a glimpse into the shadows that threatened both packs. "There are two members in Alexander's territory, Casey and Mark. In our territory, it's Serena, Jake, and Ethan. They've been working together, planning attacks, spreading discord."

Roman's jaw clenched, absorbing the unsettling details. "What's their ultimate goal?"

Ezra's gaze faltered, but the urgency in Roman's eyes demanded the truth. "They want to weaken our packs, divide us, and then take over. They're willing to destroy everything to gain power."

Rya, standing beside Ezra, listened with a mixture of shock and betrayal. Roman, though angered, maintained his focus. "Tell me about the attack on our territory. Where are the children?"

Ezra hesitated before providing the crucial information. "They're being held in an old warehouse near the eastern border. It's heavily guarded, and they've set traps to deter rescue attempts."

Roman, his mind racing, stood abruptly. "We need to act fast. Rya, stay with Ezra. Make sure he cooperates fully."

As they left the room, Roman and I exchanged a glance filled with concern and determination. The revelation had unraveled a web of deceit, and the urgent mission to save the children and dismantle the threat loomed ahead.

The packhouse buzzed with an unsettling energy as Roman led a group of warriors on a mission to rescue the kidnapped children. The air was thick with anticipation, and fear gripped the hearts of those who had once trusted the traitors among them.

In the courtyard, chaos unfolded as warriors swiftly and efficiently took down the perpetrators. Wives wept as they discovered the painful truth about their husbands' involvement, and the packhouse echoed with the clanging of cell doors as the traitors were locked away.

Nervously pacing, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. The weight of disappointment lingered in the air, and the once tight-knit community now faced the harsh reality of betrayal.

As the minutes dragged on, the tension in the room escalated. Worry etched lines on my forehead as I exchanged glances with other pack members, all sharing the same anxiety. The fate of the children and the pack rested on Roman's shoulders.

Suddenly, the room fell silent, and everyone turned toward the entrance.Six men, armed and menacing, strode in, sending a ripple of fear through the room. My heart pounded as I clutched Rya's hand for reassurance.

Ezra, who had been tied up moments earlier, now pleaded desperately with the newcomers. "Please, don't hurt my mate."

The two men exchanged a glance, a sinister smile playing on their lips. Ignoring Ezra's pleas, they approached Rya and me, their eyes cold and calculating. With a swift motion, they released Ezra, who collapsed to the ground.

We were forcibly moved to a corner, where the men expertly tied us up. Panic surged through me as I felt the cold, unforgiving ropes tighten around my wrists. I exchanged a worried look with Rya, both unsure of what awaited us.

Ezra, now free, watched in agony, torn between the guilt of his betrayal and the helplessness of seeing his mate in danger. The room seemed to constrict around us as everyone held their breath, awaiting Roman's return.

Outside, the clash of steel and roars of warriors echoed through the packhouse. The fate of the children hung in the balance, and the impending confrontation with the masterminds behind the plot added an ominous layer to the already tense atmosphere.

The room fell into an eerie silence as the pack awaited the outcome of the rescue mission, unaware of the larger threat that loomed over them.
In the dimly lit room, the atmosphere hung heavy with tension. My eyes keenly observed the situation—these men were amateurs. They hadn't bothered to search for weapons, providing an opportunity for escape. My pocket knife concealed in my pocket became my secret weapon.

Silently, I began cutting the ropes that bound my wrists, glancing over at Rya, who caught onto my plan. With precision, I released her without attracting the attention of our captors. Outside, Roman's growls resonated, signaling his impending arrival.

As the ropes fell away, a surge of adrenaline coursed through me. Roman's growls grew louder, motivating me to act swiftly. Seizing the element of surprise, I lunged at the closest man, my pocket knife now in hand. Rya joined the fray, her determination evident.

To my surprise, Ezra, realizing the gravity of his betrayal, fought on Rya's side. He became a shield, protecting her from any harm that might come her way.

In a whirlwind of fur and teeth, Roman entered the room in his formidable wolf form, unleashing a furious assault on our captors. The poorly organized enemy quickly succumbed to the overwhelming strength of our united front.

The skirmish unfolded rapidly, each move calculated, and each strike decisive. Despite the chaos, a sense of victory prevailed as our enemies were swiftly subdued. Ezra's unexpected loyalty had tipped the scales in our favor.

Roman, having emerged victorious, transformed back into his human form. He held me close, relief evident in his eyes. Rya, safe beside us, shared a grateful smile with her brother. Ezra, though aware of the consequences he would face, had protected his sister, earning a measure of redemption.

The room, once a battleground, now bore the scars of a victorious fight. The threat had been eliminated, and the unity within our pack had prevailed. As Roman embraced me, I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride in our ability to overcome adversity together.

"Are you okay?" he asked me searching for any visible wounds

I nodded "yes, are you okay?" I said watching him.

He smiled "I love you Iris"

"I love you too" I said without any doubts or second thoughts.
