Chapter 84
"It is known that Iris was our King's first love before they took his humanity away. He fought wars for her thinking that they would spare her if he did what they asked. All of it just so they could win wars. They would threaten him with her life and after he fought each war winning it. They would let them spend time together."she explained.
All of a sudden there was a sadness in the room. "What happened to them?" I asked curiously. They seemed like they had everything going well for them until it all stopped.
"She happened to them. There was never really any sort of threat on her life. Her father was the general commander. The man who betrayed his flock,the man who sacrificed Alexander and all the other soldiers to that crazy scientist" she said,her tone was more angrier this time.
I blinked as I drank in this new information . "But why would he betray his own kind? If his daughter was a werewolf then why did he do that?"
"His wife was the werewolf but he wasn't. He killed his wife by sacrificing her to save his daughter. She lied to Alexander about everything. Who she really was,her intentions ,her family. Everything was a lie,she was working for her father and Ozaak all that time"she said shaking her head.
"So Iris betrayed a man that loved her. She betrayed her own people yet she leads a whole clan." I said raising an eyebrow
" The story doesn't end there. After betraying Alexander and the rest of the soldiers.It was time for Ozaak to conduct his final experiment,one that would probably kill Alexander it's like she snapped. This experiment had killed five hundred soldiers,there was a chance that he would have died too. Iris killed her own father , captured Ozaak and rescued Alexander plus a few surviving men . He forgave her and understood her reasons for her betrayal . He was blinded by love, they led the remaining werewolves,him as Alpha with her by his shoulder. That was until she wanted to be the ruler. She became power hungry and he saw right through it-only this time he wouldn't let her fool him again." she smiled sadly
Alex had the saddest and most dramatic history indeed. He went through a lot but that didn't change the fact that my whole family was dead because of him. I had no one and it was all because of him. I didn't want this or him. "Where is your King by the way?"I whispered,my throat was still a little bit sore.
"One of his men was found dead near the borders. It's probably her,Iris and her ungrateful devil clan. Can you believe that he still forgave her after she planned a coup against him. He gave people a choice to pick a side. Her clan or his and those that chose her would live with her on the land that he would give to them . Somehow the bitch still remains as greedy as ever" she finally dropped the towel in the the bowl filled with now cold water.
So Iris practically abondoned Alex because of greed. This was typical in politics,greed and an insatiable appetite for power. If she had just stuck on his side I wouldn't be here and she wouldn't have such an enemy .Maybe Alexander would be the cheerful guy that he used to be all those years ago.
"A man died,who was he? How did he die?" I said as my heart beat increased craving to know more. It was Daniel. Mason and Sophie had finally done it . Our plans were going well so far.
Mary scrunched her eyebrows "I'm not sure. I was ordered to come here by the king before I could get enough information on the situation. I just know that he was one of the king's best warriors."
"Oh that doesn't sound good" I commented smiling inwardly. I knew this wasn't good and I was getting to know Alexander. He didn't seem so evil from the stories I was told and what the witch had shown me. However he treated me as if I was just something he could use and get rid of anytime. He had marked me or whatever and I felt worse than a prisoner now .
"Yeah bad for whoever did this obviously. If it's Iris this is a call for war and war is not good for any of us Lucy. People will die and so will our lands."she said sadly.
I didn't think of that when we carried this out,I was doing this for my people. I had no time for regrets or confused emotions. "So anyways. This mark means that the werewolves will know I'm the king's mate?What else does it mean or what can it do? Will it go away eventually. Will it heal like a wound?" I asked truly wishing it would go away.
She laughed "You are one curious human being Lucy! Well you definitely smell a little like Alexander now. Every other wolf will smell that now. That particular scent won't go away. It's faint but we can definitely smell it and he will be able to feel some of your deepest emotions. Especially if you are scared, alarmed or excited. He will be able tell and it's a good thing too because if you get into trouble. He will be able to come to your rescue,isn't that cute!"she said with a wide grin.
It wasn't cute at all,I didn't need Alexander to feel what I felt. "what else?" I asked with a frown on my face. It couldn't get possibly worse than this ,right. I just wanted her to tell me that it was all there was to this mark but my stomach twisted as if this was just the beginning.
She smiled sitting up straight and picking up the bowl "well ,he can can track you. He will be able to find you wherever you go and no you can't get rid of it Lucy so don't even try you will only get yourself killed. Many have tried to run from fate and it never ends well. Rest and I will see you later when I bring your food."she said walking out.
