Chapter 159

ALEXANDER

In a dimly lit room, the atmosphere was charged with tension as Beta Lewis, Alpha Roman, and Alexander stood across from Adrian. The young council member's face was pale, his hands trembling as he faced the weight of their scrutiny.

"Adrian, you're running out of time," Alexander's voice was cold and unwavering, his gaze fixed on the young man before him.

Adrian's eyes darted around the room, a nervous sweat forming on his brow. He knew he was cornered, and he couldn't hold onto his secrets much longer.

Lewis stepped forward, his expression a mix of frustration and disappointment. "Adrian, just tell us the truth. It's in your best interest."

A humorless chuckle escaped Adrian's lips, his facade beginning to crack. "You don't understand. I did it for love."

Alexander's eyes narrowed. "Love? What are you talking about?"

As the pressure intensified, Adrian's resolve faltered. With a sudden surge of desperation, he shouted, "Alright, alright! I'll tell you!"

Before anyone could react, Alexander's hand shot forward, his grip on Adrian's finger unrelenting. A sickening snap echoed in the room as Adrian's scream of pain filled the air.

"I'll talk!" Adrian cried, his face contorted in agony. "Just please, let go!"

Alexander released his grip, and Adrian slumped forward, gasping for breath. His fingers were mangled and bloodied, but the threat had worked. The truth was on the verge of spilling out.

Sharma's presence materialized in the room, her gaze intense as she cast a spell, her voice low and commanding. "Speak the truth, Adrian. Conceal nothing."

Adrian's eyes widened as the spell took hold, forcing him to confess his darkest secrets. His voice shook as he began to speak, his words revealing a tragic tale of love, betrayal, and revenge.

"I loved her," Adrian confessed, his voice cracking with emotion. "Melissa, the beta's ex mate. I understood her pain, her struggle. I fell for her."

The room fell into a heavy silence as Adrian's words hung in the air. Alexander exchanged a puzzled glance with Lewis and Roman, their brows furrowing in confusion.

"Melissa," Alexander repeated, his voice laced with curiosity.

Adrian's eyes were filled with a mix of guilt and sorrow. "She was like me, torn between two worlds. But she... she couldn't bear it anymore. After Lewis left her for a human she wanted revenge but in the end she couldn't do it anymore so she killed herself"

Adrian's voice quivered as he continued. "Her brother blamed the you for her death Alex, you brought the humans in.You caused all of this and I agreed to help him take revenge. He vowed revenge, vengeance against all of you, against the Alpha."

A chill swept through the room as the weight of Adrian's confession settled in. The pain and anger that had fueled his actions were clear, even as his betrayal left wounds that ran deep.

And then, his voice dropped to a whisper, the words almost too chilling to comprehend. "He's here. He's here to finish what he started. To rid this world of your abomination."

The room fell into stunned silence, the revelation hanging in the air like a curse. Gideon, Melissa's vengeful brother, was in their midst, driven by a rage that spanned years.

Alexander's eyes blazed with a mixture of anger and determination. "Where is he?"

Adrian's lips trembled, his breath ragged. "In your room. He said he'd make it look like an accident."

The tension in the room escalated as the truth unfolded. Gideon's presence in their territory, his intent to harm Lucy and their child, sent a shockwave of alarm through everyone present.

Without hesitation, Alexander turned and strode out of the room, the others close behind him. The threat was no longer abstract-it was imminent, lurking within the sanctum of their own space.

As they reached the door to their room, Alexander's heart pounded in his chest. The room that had once been a haven was now a potential battleground, and he couldn't afford to let his guard down.

The scene was a nightmarish tableau of chaos and horror. A frantic rush of footsteps echoed through the corridor as Alexander and the others reached Lucy's room, their hearts pounding with dread. The air was thick with tension and fear, and as the door swung open, the sight before them froze their very souls.

Time seemed to slow down as Alexander's eyes locked onto the lifeless figure of his mate, Lucy, lying on the ground, surrounded by a pool of crimson. The blood-soaked scene seemed surreal, as if it belonged to a world of nightmare rather than reality. His steps faltered, his heart shattering with each beat, as he stumbled forward, unable to comprehend the magnitude of the horror before him.

Gideon, his twisted smile smeared with malevolence, stood there, holding Astrid in his arms like a sinister trophy. The innocent infant's eyes, so unique and full of life, stared unknowingly at the man who held her. It was a twisted tableau of contrasting emotions – the fragility of life juxtaposed against the raw brutality of death.

Alexander's vision blurred with a mixture of anguish and rage, his mind unable to process the unfathomable loss that had just transpired. A guttural roar escaped his lips, a primal cry of despair that echoed through the room, reverberating with the weight of a love that had been ripped away.

The room was a maelstrom of emotions – cries of grief, shouts of anger, and the palpable sense of a world unraveling. The council members and the pack who had followed in their wake stood in shock, their faces contorted with disbelief and sorrow.

Alexander's gaze remained locked onto Lucy's lifeless form, his mind reeling as he fought to comprehend the reality before him. His body was filled with rage as he watched Gideon carefully.

"Let her go now, don't you dare lay a finger on her or I will rip your heart out" he said but somehow his voice betrayed him, it sounded more of like he was begging and he has never ever begged for anything ever in his life.
