Chapter 106
AMARA
I walked down the stairs slowly. I had to think ,things were getting out of hand very fast.Lucy for instance was slowly falling into the Kings grip, she was slipping right in his control even though she wasn't going to admit it. My friend likes to think of herself as someone who is strong which is slightly true but I could clearly see that the king was her biggest weakness and I had to get her out of his clutches before everything turned into one big disaster. My first move would be to find out were these beasts were hiding he kids and after that figure this place out. All the exits and the main doors, how many men he has plus were they kept all their weapons because we would need those to face the bad banshees,apparently we have so many enemies now.
As I moved around in one of the hallways I made sure not to draw too much attention. I pulled the hood of my hoody to cover my face and some of my scent since my long hair was trapped inside the hoody. Hair was dangerous it was like a tail leaving off your human scent everywhere as it flies in every direction especially on a windy day. Nobody really paid any attention to my presence, some of the beasts just sniffed and stared for a second before shaking their head and walking away. It was weird but I decided to continue with my mission. I overhead one of the guards talking about the kids being in some big guestroom downstairs. I mean those had to be our babies obviously ,well I hope so.
I finally got downstairs after a long walk ,my legs were literally screaming at me to sit down but but I did not have the luxury or time to waste so I kept going. I mean I knew better, sitting down meant risking my whole plan. I rolled my eyes as I counted the many doors staring at me downstairs. "what a fucking nightmare" I whispered to myself. This was going to be a long ass search. These were the moments I actually thought of werewolves as lucky motherfuckers, they had great sense of smell and hearing. If I was one I could have sniffed our babies from miles away.
"Excuse me, what are you doing down here?" a feminine voice questioned me and I froze for a second before turning around to look at the source of that voice. Obviously it was another beautiful werewolf female. A natural blond, long legs and pretty baby blue eyes. She has had the pleasure of enjoying a couple of more showers than me, she smelled fresh and I did not have to be a werewolf to smell her luxurious rose merry soap.
I got rid of my judging eye and the frown that had naturally come along with it. I smiled at her and straightened my back. Those were my signature moves before the ultimate lie came along. "You see the King had agreed that as his guest I could maybe look around for a few minutes while he talked to my best friend who is apparently his mate" I told her and she looked at me suspiciously so I had to add on to my lie "Obviously he just wants some time alone with her,this was his excuse to get rid of me for a while but I don't mind" I said with a wink.
She fortunately believed this lie, I mean it did make a lot of sense. She sighed and narrowed her eyes at me "Fine just don't go too far, some places are strictly restricted ." she said before walking away in the opposite direction. Silly girl she had definitely followed my human scent from wherever she was. I rolled my eyes and waited for her figure to disappear. I waited for a few seconds like a clever girl that I am before continuing with my plan. The first door did not open which was a waste. Ok,so I had to think this through carefully. If it was a room with human babies they would need protection so obviously the King would put his most trusted loyal guards in charge of that duty.
The plan was to look for a door guarded by a few men, maybe two or three but I should not let them see me otherwise that would be suspicious so as long as I see which room it is that would be fine. I tried walking softly like a shadow in the night although it was still day. The point is I tried being invisible as best as I could. I heard a few male voices and immediately froze in my spot. I hid in a corner and poked my head out. I made sure I looked like a dude just chilling in a corner with a large hoody on fiddling with my fingers in case they spotted me and decided to interrogate me. I did not want to seem suspicious no matter what.
There were two guards talking about some game going on tonight or something. "I'm sure the Alpha will let us swap this babysitting bullshit with Tom and Bale tonight then we can watch the rugby episode. If he doesn't I will personally beg him" one of them said with a frown on his face. That is all the details I needed to Know inorder to find out If that was the room. It definitely was, task one complete! I started bouncing off to my next task with smile on my face ,well that quickly faded when I literally bumped into ...him.
I swallowed hard "sorry" I said fast before trying to dodge him.
He grabbed my arm unfortunately and pulled me back in front of him so I was facing him and he was narrowing his eyes at me like I had stolen his favorite meatball. "where are you coming from?" he questioned me suspiciously. This beta was a tough ass ,he was different from the girl I had met earlier. This nigga needed to be fed something a hundred percent convincing or else I was finished!
I blinked once then twice before answering him "Nowhere in particular I was just exploring. Is that a problem...beta" I said with a bit of sass in my voice. I was naturally good at being sassy and quite rude. No one here was going to intimidate me, never.
"You are not allowed to explore, this is not your territory and do not call me that I am not your beta." he spoke with a blank face .
I almost rolled my eyes at that. As If I cared if he wasn't my beta,seriously he needed to chill. "Well I did not get the list of rules so it's not exactly my problem" I said squinting my eyes at him. I always did that when someone was acting stupid in front of me and I felt like punching them in the face.
He looked annoyed "You don't need rules ,you need to know your place human"
"Oh please," I finally did it,I rolled my fucking eyes...oops.He growled at me before pinning me to nearest wall,well shit!
