Chapter 214

I sat alone for a while and only one thing ran through my mind.  I needed to talk to Ella,to be honest I missed her and I wanted to tell her everything that I was going through. It hurt me that she couldn't be honest with me after pressuring me to be more open.  It felt like she had lied about our friendship but I needed to hear her out. Everyone deserved to be heard.

I asked a few people if they seen Ella ,surprisingly noone knew were she was. That only meant one thing, she had locked herself up in her room. Honestly I knew how Ella felt because once upon a time I was in her shoes.  Rejection was really painful and it could leave you mentally plus emotionally drained. I decided to put my pride aside and be there for her. My heart rate increased a bit as I knocked on her door and she didn't take long to open.

"Iris, I didn't expect to see you," Ella mumbled, her gaze fixed on the floor as if it held the answers to all her troubles.

"We need to talk, Ella," I said, my voice carrying a mix of frustration and hurt. "You can't keep shutting yourself away like this." She seriously looked sad and her eyes were puffy red as if she had been crying all night.

Ella sighed, finally meeting my eyes. "I know. I've messed up, Iris. I just didn't want to face anyone, especially you."

I took a deep breath, the weight of our fractured friendship pressing down on me. "Ella, we were supposed to be friends. I trusted you more than anyone, and you shut me out when I needed you the most."

Tears welled up in Ella's eyes as remorse etched across her face. "I'm so sorry, Iris. I never meant to hurt you."

I sat beside her on the bed, the silence hanging between us for a moment. "Why, Ella? Why did you try to hide what you had with Roman from me?"

Ella hesitated before speaking. "I thought it would be easier for both of us. I didn't want to be a reminder of something painful for you. I wanted to forget too, you know?"

"But you should have told me," I insisted. "We could have faced it together. You know better than anyone that I know what rejection feels like."

Ella nodded, a tear escaping down her cheek. "I messed up, Iris. I regret not talking to you about it. It only made everything worse."

I softened my tone, recognizing the vulnerability in her eyes. "You're my friend, Ella. You're not a burden. We're supposed to share our burdens, not carry them alone."

Ella wiped away her tears, a shaky smile playing on her lips. "I guess I underestimated the strength of our friendship."

I sighed, the wounds still fresh but willing to heal. "It's not about strength, Ella. It's about trust. We have to trust each other, even when it's hard."

Ella nodded, her gaze dropping to her hands. "I'm so sorry, Iris. Can you forgive me?"

I looked into her eyes, the pain mirrored in them. "It's not about forgiveness, Ella. It's about rebuilding what we had. I need my friend back."

Ella's eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope. "I want that too, Iris. I miss our talks and laughter."

I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a comforting embrace. "We can get through this, Ella. But we have to be honest with each other, no matter how hard it is."

Ella nodded, a silent promise passing between us. "I won't hide anymore, Iris. I want to be the friend you deserve."

As we sat there, the weight of unspoken words lifted from our shoulders. I smiled at Ella "Thank goodness that's past us because I have a lot to tell you"

"Iris, what's going on? You seem so tense," Ella remarked, concern etched across her face as she looked at me.

I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Ella, there's something I need to tell you. It's about Rya and a situation we've stumbled into."

Ella leaned forward, her eyes curious. "What happened? Is Rya okay?"

I nodded, exhaling slowly. "Physically, yes. But she's involved in something serious. We found her near a cabin, and it seems she's tied to a group planning an attack on Roman's pack and others."

Ella's eyes widened in shock. "What? Rya? Involved in an attack? That doesn't make sense."

"I know, Ella. It's complicated. She found her mate, and he's part of this group. They promised her they wouldn't harm Roman if she joined them," I explained, the complexity of the situation weighing on my shoulders.

Ella shook her head in disbelief. "Mate or not, she can't be a part of something like that. What are we going to do?"

"That's the thing. I don't know," I confessed, frustration evident in my voice. "I want to help Rya, but I don't want her to lose her mate either."

Ella placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "We'll figure it out, Iris. Sometimes situations are messy, and all we can do is try our best to go through them with strong hearts."

Switching gears, I continued, "And there's another thing. Roman and I are planning to form an alliance with Alexander's pack. But, Ella, I'm terrified to face them. I haven't told Roman about being banished from there, and I don't know how to bring it up."

Ella looked at me sympathetically. "Iris, Roman loves you. He'll understand. Just be honest with him. As for the alliance, it might be challenging, but it's also an opportunity. We've been alone for so long as a pack. An alliance might be what we need to survive these difficult times."

I sighed, the weight on my shoulders feeling a bit lighter with Ella's support.I really needed this. I needed Ella she always had the right words to say "I just hope Roman sees it the same way."

"He will," Ella assured me. "And if he doesn't, we'll face it together. You're not alone in this, Iris."

As we talked, the daunting challenges ahead seemed a bit more manageable. With Ella by my side I felt less alone. I know I had Roman but it was different talking to a friend, it felt less lonely having her and I was greatful.
