Chapter 69
When I returned to the Alpha's room he wasn't there luckily,so I took that as an opportunity to come up with a plan.I sat on the bed until I finally decided to play Nancy drew,it was time to snoop around.I went to the Alpha's drawers and opened them,surprisingly they were empty.There was literally nothing in all his drawers.Well that was boring so I went to his walk in closet.It was huge as expected,I looked around.He had a lot of formal wear especially in black and grey.I opened a drawer that was behind his hangers.That seemed suspicious to me but at least there wasn't a secret safe that I couldn't open.
I opened the drawer and there were documents plus a few letters.I took the first letter that was closer,It was a letter to king Alexander from the Northern wolves .I opened it and read it,their leader was inviting King Alexander to a hearing,one of his high ranked wolves was being accused of slaughtering wolves from Bermingin. The hearing was being held the following Monday,I almost jumped in excitement.I closed the letter and returned it neatly were I had found it.
So all I had to do now was to make sure he was actually going to attend the hearing and to figure out if there was another exit in this damn castle.I paced around a little,how the hell was I going to find another exit without asking around and sounding suspicious.I was going to have to ask in a subtle way,its like asking a guy if he is rich without making it obvious that you are actually after his money.I rolled my eyes,I would just have to use my job as a maid or whatever to my advantage.
I got out of the room and immediately I was met with the guards outside my door.I let out a silent groan,"you are not allowed to leave the room until the Alpha returns"
I looked at the one speaking,"Actually...you see I actually just came off the phone with the Alpha and he said I could resume my duties until he returns"
He looked at me suspiciously "we didn't hear any phone calls while you were in there,did you hear any talking Matt?"he asked the other man he was standing with known now as Matt.
Matt looked at me sternly "No Brian,maybe we should call the Alpha and find out"
Oh shit,what the hell was I going to do now "uh you know what that is just very unnecessary . He was just actually telling me about how busy he was.I mean its not like I'm going outside or anything.I am just helping around."
"I think she is right,I just mind linked the Alpha and he is not responding" Brian said with a frown.
"fine you can do your job but don't think for one second that we won't be around watching you" Matt said folding his arms.I almost scoffed but I didn't want to ruin my plans already.
I nodded my head and walked away.I quickly walked into the kitchen with a smile.I found Mary doing the dishes ,I cleared my throat and walked up to her "hi Mary"
She grinned at me "Hi Lucy,where have you been hiding all this time.We were starting to believe the king had already killed you."
"He locked me up in his room,its a long story really."
"wow you have so much drama for a single human being" she laughed shaking her head.
I grabbed a dish towel and started wiping the dishes "tell me about it,my life is a movie..."
"At least he is still keeping you alive.Do you know why?"she asked looking at me with a raised eyebrow.I wanted to tell her but I decided it was wiser if I didn't ,it was better for her to feel comfortable around me knowing I wasn't her king's future baby making machine.
I shook my head " I don't know "
"well maybe he has decided to keep you as a human pet or something.I heard lycans had a weird fetish but I didn't picture our king for that kind of of Lycan.I mean he is always so tense and cold plus he is not that relationship kind of guy you know"
I looked at her in surprise "Really but I thought he had a thing with the red head"
"no never,she is just always throwing herself at the king.She wants power,she sees herself as the Queen one day or something. Its a pity though because everyone knows that the king wants all the power to himself,he doesn't even believe in feminism." she said rolling her eyes "he believes women here are just bitches,there to reproduce the werewolf generation." she continued.
That was such a tough system,it was disgusting.So he just thought he could use women as breeding machines."why don't the women here just leave.Seriously this is not okay,women are more than just baby making machines"
"That is our way I guess,we are literally animals after all.Anyways I haven't found my mate yet so I am still on the safe side"she said with a frown
"Don't you want a mate,I thought those kind of things excited wolves "
She scoffed "Oh please having your future set already and having no choice in it is just messed up.It makes me wish I was actually human you know...at least I would have control over my own fate.Sometimes I feel like running away or something but that would make me rogue."
"I mean if you could run away how would you do it there is like only a few main doors with guards everywhere..." I said with a frown,so this is how I was going to find out if there was another way out.
She grinned "Girl there is always a way out.If I was to escape from here I would probably use the hell gates.There are two main gates in the dungeons used to dump dead prisoners bodies.I heard its horrific but hey beggars cant be choosers right."
"yeah you are definitely right,"I said wiping the last dish I got to go now.I kind of have to get back to the room now but it was nice talking to you." I said with a smile
she smiled back at me "see you later Lucy."
I quickly walked back to the King's bedroom,I had already spent so much time in the kitchen.I got there and unfortunately he was sitting on a chair facing me like he owned the world or something.I swallowed hard and closed the door behind me.
"So I heard you had quite an interesting day exploring after you lied to my men. I am sure you have quite a story to tell me...come." he said gesturing for me to walk forward.
