Chapter 92
"Bad banshees,what else did your mother tell you about the bad banshees little ones..."I asked them curiously in a soft voice.
Mason widened his eyes in excitement and I already knew he had a story to tell. "She said they scream so loud your ears start to bleed and mommy always told us to hide far far far away when we hear them cry"
"Sounds like these things have been here for a long time," Amara said staring at me.
"yeah but how come we haven't seen one before? You know what I think, I think something led them here and now they are beginning to make this place their territory,"Persius groaned in frustration "As if we didn't already have enough monsters on this planet."
I sighed "We need to go back, head South and leave this place for good"
"Lucy...I know you have history in the centre of this hell hole but we will never make it back there. You saw what they can do, its worse than rabid wolves Lu. You and everyone else in here know that we must head East. We will go to Altaria,just like we had planned from the beginning." Trevor said with his eyes concentrated on the road.
I knew he was right but the thought of passing through Alexanders territory made my blood freeze and my heart sink slowly. "Lets just make it fast, I just want to leave this place so badly"
"We all do Lu and we will." Amara said holding my hand softly.
I smiled at her "You are definitely right about that. We will get out of here even if we have to die trying"
"Get some rest ,I will wake everyone up once we reach the city centre" Trevor called out from the front.
"Good idea" I grinned as I laid down with the kids

"Lu,hey wake up " I heard Persius voice as his warm hand rubbed my shoulder.
I held back a yawn "We are here ?" I asked as I rubbed my eyes
"yeah, we are here. Come, we get food and fuel then we are out of this hell" he said as I followed him out of the vehicle.
Amara stretched her arms as she held her bow and bag of poisoned arrows , "We leave the kids to sleep while we get everything necessary for the long journey to freedom." she said
"That's the plan, lock the doors." I yawned as Persius handed me my weapons. He locked the vehicle ensuring the safety of the twins and John who was still unconscious. The city centre was full of old shops and malls. Some of them where empty but most of them had food and supplies. The plan was to get as much food and supplies as we can before hitting the road.
"So this is how it goes, Blake I think it would be a good idea if you stayed with the vehicle. Protect John and the twins while we stock up. I mean anything could happen you know and you can stay with Marcia" Trevor said sternly with a tone in his voice that left no room for debates.
Marcia groaned as Blake rubbed his jaw, I could see how staying behind annoyed him but he didn't argue about it "okay we will wait for you here and make sure we are ready to leave once you return"
Trevor nodded his head , "Everybody else you are with me."
"don't you think we should like separate to cover more ground and avoid one whole group entering empty stores," Hakim suggested and we all looked at him as if he had grown two heads.
Amara shook her head at him "Don't you know that people always end up dying when they separate,"
"Yeah that's kind of true. It's probably safer if we stick together right now" said Persius .
I nodded my head "That was a good suggestion but Amara is right,we cannot afford anything bad happening to any one of us while we are separated."
"okay sure," Hakim smiled but the smile barely reached his eyes.
We walked fast to the nearest mall,the city centre looked like a ghost town with litter scattered everywhere and old run down buildings. The mall we entered was in bad shape and it looked as if it would collapse at any moment. "So now we actually split up and meet here again in 30minutes" Trevor said as we all stood in the foyer
"Okay but I don't like this splitting up business at all" Amara said with a frown on her face.
I smiled at her "Come on ,you watch way too many scary movies. We will be okay besides we are in the same building,"
"Persius ,you are with Hakim. I will go with the girls, any questions?" Trevor asked .
"Nope, see you guys soon and be careful" Hakim said as they walked away fast like real men on a mission.
Amara cleared her throat a little dramatically "lets check out the stores upstairs since Hakim and Persius are already checking out some of the stores on ground level"
"Good idea" I agreed and we made our way up using the stairs since nothing electric was functional from the elevators to the escalators .
"Oh my gosh! This store is packed!" I said as I spotted a grocery store after a few minutes of walking up the stairs . I was beyond excited and happy because it is not everyday that we get this lucky. We had days when we would enter over twenty stores and still find nothing at all but this was like a miracle sent from heaven. The store had a lot of things packed on every shelf. Trevor held my arm before I could run into the store and explore "This is too good to be true"
Amara nodded her head "Yeah, something is not right here"
I scrunched up my eyebrows in confusion as I looked at them both "Are you guys serious right now, there is a packed store right in front of us and you think something is wrong about that? Come on ,we don't have time for this !"
"Don't be naive Lu" Amara said and there was suddenly a loud screeching sound that had us all covering our ears in horror.
