Chapter 213

The cabin, once a refuge for solitude, now stood as a repository of secrets. The dim light within danced with the shadows of a revelation, casting eerie patterns on the wooden floor. As my eyes adjusted to the low light, I noticed an old, worn-out table adorned with what seemed to be a map, meticulously detailing a nefarious plan.

Approaching cautiously, my heartbeat quickened with each step, the weight of the unexpected discovery amplifying the quiet intensity of the cabin. The map sprawled across the table revealed a sinister plot, marked territories that echoed with familiarity—Alexander's pack, a neighboring territory, and, to my dismay, Roman's own domain. Everything was being carefully planned and whoever had been in this cabin was not alone. I sniffed the air and there was a mixture of different scents all around me.

My fingers traced the crude lines and markings on the map, the unsettling realization settling like a heavy fog in my mind. Someone was orchestrating a large-scale invasion, a malicious design to disrupt the delicate balance of the packs. Panic surged within me, but a sense of responsibility took over. I couldn't turn a blind eye to the impending danger.

Scattered on the table were documents, a sinister blueprint of the impending attack. The details were unsettlingly precise, each element revealing a calculated approach. My hands trembled as I sifted through the papers, the weight of the impending catastrophe threatening to crush me.

In the midst of the chaos, I spotted a familiar jacket draped over a chair—a jacket I'd seen Rya wear on several occasions. My mind recoiled at the implication, a silent accusation echoing in the silence of the cabin. Rya, Roman's own sister, was entangled in this dark plot. I shook my head I did not want to come up with different crazy assumptions maybe there was a better explanation for this.

A profound sense of betrayal coursed through my veins. How could someone close to Roman, close to me, be involved in such a sinister scheme? The implications reverberated through my thoughts, shaking the foundation of trust I had in the pack.

Swiftly, I grabbed my bag, a makeshift container for the damning evidence. Folding the map with utmost care, I tucked it away, every crease and mark etched into my memory. The papers, each a damning testament to the impending assault, joined the map in the small bag.

As I moved through the cabin, the gravity of my discovery sinking in, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread. The threat wasn't merely to one pack but to the delicate balance that held the werewolf community together. Rya's involvement added a layer of complexity, leaving me grappling with the harsh reality of my newfound knowledge.

Closing the door of the cabin behind me, I was left standing in the cool night air, the weight of the evidence pressing against my shoulder. The wind whispered through the trees, a mournful echo of the treacherous path ahead. The time for solitude had passed; now, armed with the damning truth, I faced an uncertain future. The one thing that remained clear—I needed to warn Roman, even if it meant returning to the pack I had just escaped.

The commotion around me intensified as I stepped back into Roman's territory. Warriors were on high alert, frantically searching for me. A pack member's voice cut through the chaos, shouting, "She's over here!" Soon, I found myself facing Roman, his eyes ablaze with fury as he tightly gripped my arms, demanding to know where I had been.

"Where have you been, Iris?" Roman's voice rumbled like distant thunder.

Taking a deep breath, I met his gaze. "Roman, we need to talk. Alone."

He hesitated, his grip still firm, but then he reluctantly nodded. "Fine, let's talk. But this better be good."

We moved away from the frantic activity, seeking a quiet spot where we could discuss the urgent matter at hand. Once we were secluded from the prying eyes of the pack, I began to explain, the gravity of the situation evident in my voice.

"I found something, Roman. Something that could be a threat to the pack." I pulled out the map and invasion plan, laying them out for him to see. "It's a plan to attack territories, including yours."

Roman's expression darkened as he studied the map. "Where did you find this?"

"An abandoned cabin," I replied, glancing around to ensure no one was eavesdropping.

His jaw clenched. "And you went there alone? Without guards?"

"Yes, but listen Roman, there's more." I took a deep breath, reaching into my bag to reveal the jacket. "I found this. It has Rya's scent on it."

His eyes narrowed, a flicker of disbelief crossing his face. "Rya's jacket? What's going on?"

"That's not all." I hesitated, pulling out a sealed envelope containing the unfamiliar scent. "There's another scent here. I don't know who it belongs to, but we need to be careful."

Roman's anger simmered as he processed the information. "Fuck, Iris you can't be going out to hidden dangerous cabins alone."

"Roman listen,I suggest we talk to Rya first," I proposed. "Find out what she knows, and then we can decide how to proceed." I said ignoring his statement we didn't have time for his wolf to be obsessing over me almost running away.

Roman nodded, his Alpha instincts taking over. "Alright, we'll talk to Rya. But she's my sister; we need to approach this calmly. Iris why were you out there?" Roman asked not letting go of the topic.

I didn't want to hurt him "I just needed air away from you and the pack. I'm sorry I know it was a dumb move but a lot had been going on it was just too much."

Roman held my face softly "you had me really worried, don't do that again. Okay?"

I nodded "okay"

As we headed toward the pack house Roman looked very worried I could feel his energy, I continued, "I know this is a lot to take in, Roman, but we have to be strategic. The pack's safety is at stake."

He sighed, a mix of frustration and concern in his eyes. "I get it, Iris. But sneaking out alone puts you at risk too."

"Stop please let it go look if I hadn't gone out there we wouldn't have this information, Roman," I replied earnestly. "Now let's focus on solving this puzzle and protecting our pack."

The tension lingered between us, but our united purpose overshadowed personal grievances. The fate of the pack hung in the balance, and we had to navigate the complexities of the situation with caution and precision.

I sat down next to Roman as the meeting began . Only the closest 6 and most important council members were invited plus the beta. I learned their names really quick Assena who looked like she was the oldest member at maybe 65, Abrihim, Talia ,Sonn, Ezra and Chadwick. We filled them in ,well mainly Roman did the talking.

Assena looked really worried "Alpha and Luna this is much more serious. We are going to need to unite with the other packs to get rid of the threat."

"Assena is right Alpha , the threat has to have infiltrated both territories inorder for their plan to work. I am betting they are insiders." Chadwick added

"For us to flush them out completely we are going to have to do this as quietly as possible but we definitely need to work with the other packs starting with Alexander's pack" Assena said

My heart dropped . I never thought I would have to go back there or have anything to do with Alexander but this was my home now and if I had to work with that pack to save my pack then be it.
