Chapter 144

I stared at the ceiling in my room as I replayed Marcia's words in my head. She was my best friend yet she chose not to support me despite everything that we had gone through to be where we are right now. I did not get it but maybe Amara was right maybe there was more to why Marcia behaved the way she just did. I would have to talk to her again after she calms down a bit because I was not going to lose another friend especially right now. I sighed as I put my hand on my belly, this was frustrating.

"You should stop overthinking Lu, stress is not good for you right now" Amara said smiling at me , she was laying on her back at the edge of my bed. To be honest Amara was just the sweetest soul, she had been trying to cheer me up since the incident "I have an idea, lets go see the boys it has been such a long time"

The twins! I got up and breathed out loud "Oh no...so much has been happening we haven't had time to see those angels."

"It's okay they are alright. Marcia and I make it an important note to see the boys every week at least twice" she smiled

I gave a huge bear hug "I love you so much! Thank you Mara"

"I love you too now lets go maybe this will actually cheer you up and the boys too" she said and I nodded

We got out of the room, Rick followed behind us . Amara sighed "I don't how you ever got used to being followed around all the time"

"I try not to think about it that much to be honest" I said "Besides Mark and rick are not so bad." I finished y statement with a smile knowing clearly that Rick could hear me. He was probably smiling right now.

It was so sunny outside it felt like the perfect day to just take a walk or have a picnic but I knew better . Those things did not exist for us anymore and it was a shame that beautiful days like this always went to waste. We arrived at the boarding house were the human children were being kept. I smiled as I watched some kids playing around , chasing each other around with toys. This is what I admired about Alexander , this side of him. The fact that he protected these human children had to mean something, he actually had a heart.

Rick talked to one of the caretakers before walking towards us ,"the boys are right this way-follow me" he said walking in front of us.

We followed Rick and he led us to a room that looked like a classroom. There were a few kids about 15 being taught by a young lady with short brown hair. She was smiling at them holding up a big green card with  an apple drawn on it while she held an actual apple in her left hand. Mason and Jason were sitting and smiling at her , they looked so fascinated with whatever she was saying. I almost cried , my boys they had grown so much . Their dark curly hair had grown it was now shoulder length and they were a bit taller now.

"oh my goodness, they have grown so big now" I said with a smile

Amara laughed "yep and they love learning too especially Jason. Jason loves to read and Mason is great at math"

I giggled of course Mason loved Math he was my little calculator . I have always known Mason would probably be good at Math he loved numbers, to calm himself down he would count to the largest number or try to solve a math problem. Jason was the quiet one , he would read books in his quiet little corner you would hardly even notice his presence. Amara knocked on the door and the tutor smiled at her as she walked towards us.

"Amara it is lovely to see you here again" she smiled at Amara

Amara nodded returning the smile "This is Lucy, she is also the twins guardian. Lucy this is Talia she is a tutor. She also takes care of the kids and the kids adore her"

"Oh lovely to finally meet you Lucy...I have heard so much about you" she said with a small smile but somehow I felt like this smile was not so genuine and I knew why. the humans probably heard about the Kings human mate and they felt like I betrayed our kind.

"It is a pleasure to meet you too Talia." I said with a genuine smile because I had a feeling we were going to be great friends one day.

"You can come in, the boys would love to see you two" Talia said leading us in. I walked in with a smile. The kids were chatting and playing , it got a little noisy while Talia was talking to us.

The boys spotted us and they ran to us giving us big hugs. I hugged them tightly "Oh I missed you so much!"

The boys were so excited to see me we spent an hour with them ,they had a lot to tell me. Apparently they did sports, gaming activities ,math , English and most shockingly they were also trained to defend themselves but at a basic level for now. I was so intrigued it was amazing honestly and I was greatful. Despite the crazy things happening in the outside world these children were all shielded from that. They were in their own little safe haven and they even made friends.

When it was time to leave I was a bit sad but I decided I would make sure I visit more often. Amara had to leave me because she had to check up on Marcia and I decided it was best I didn't see for now. I would see Marcia soon , we had a few things to talk about-alone. With the way Amara talked about there being something deeper going on with Marcia I had a feeling Amara knew what it was but maybe it wasn't her place to tell me and I understood that. So I decided to explore the boarding house a bit, poor Rick seemed a bit bored. I felt sorry for him.

I stopped in my tracks and looked at him "Rick,"

He moved  a step back before replying "Luna"

"You can take a break seriously , I am just going to explore this corridor " I said

he shook his head , "No I am okay this is my job. It is not safe here anymore"

"trust me if anything happens I will scream and you will hear me besides you wont be far. You need some air, you didn't even eat anything for hours. At least get some food ,please" I begged him. I really felt so bad, I know its his job but that did not mean he needed to suffer for it.

He sighed "alright . I am just going to grab something to eat from the canteen then I will be right back."

I nodded ,well that was better although I wanted him to take a walk and refresh but its obvious he wasn't going to do any of that. The canteen was very close so he wouldn't be far at all so I felt safe enough.

I walked down the corridor, the boarding house was a large building with so many rooms. I passed through a few small rooms with bunk beds and then there was a pantry. I followed a few steps that led to what looked like a small basement but surprisingly there was another door in the basement. I opened the door and there was another corridor. I heard hushed voices and one of the voices was familiar , it was Talia.

"Dad this is dangerous , please don't do this. We will not survive this and honestly we are safer on the Kings side, don't ruin this  for us" she said

"we are not safe on anyone's side Talia. These beasts will eventually get rid of us, haven't you learned anything" a male voice responded

"Ryan your daughter is too soft , she cares for these creatures. Can we trust her?" a woman said and I moved closer . I hid behind a corner making sure no one spotted me.

Ryan was a tall dirty blonde headed man. He looked exactly like his daughter with the same doe brown eyes and olive skin. He looked annoyed with the woman in front of him, it looked like a small group meeting. I knew what this was and these people were all human. They were crazy if they were planning on causing something here.

"My daughter can be trusted Anna. She just needs to understand that this is the right time while the king is distracted with this brewing civil war. None of them will know what hit them, we will destroy them all" Ryan said and people cheered

My anxiety levels flew to a hundred and before I knew it I walked up to them "Have you all lost your minds, do you have a death wish!"
