Chapter 63
***LUCY'S POV***
"uncle this is Lucy,the girl that saved me." Benjamin answered and I smiled.
"Thank you for saving my nephew Lucy. You are welcome to stay here for a while if you have nowhere else to go."Mason said kindly,he sounded sincere and infact everyone here was really nice. They were a family and they really cared for each other.
I cleared my throat," thank you,I will stay but only for a few days." I couldnt stay here for long,they didn't know who I really was or the kind of trouble I would be bringing to them if I stayed with them for long.
"Okay,please feel at home. Benjamin can show you around and stuff."he said scratching the back of his head. He looked nervous but maybe that was just my imagination,I mean why would he be nervous anyway.
Benjamin immediately widened his eyes in pure excitement "of course ,infact I can do that right now!" he said pulling my hand and I laughed as I followed him.
I looked behind me and noticed that Lily didn't seem too excited about my presence in their house but Mason seemed okay with me. "Take it easy on her Benjamin-she is not a pet"he said smiling and shaking his head.
"Okay uncle Mason!"Benjamin called out as we walked out of the sitting room and into a small corridor."So welcome to my home Lucy,it's not as big as the castle but it's alright."he said shyly
"I like it!"I said smiling at him.
He grinned "Really!So this is were the bedrooms and the bathroom are located.We have three bedrooms but don't worry I can share one with my uncle for a while."
"Oh you don't have to I can sleep on the couch!" I insisted. I didn't want to invade these people's private space .
He laughed showing me the three bedrooms "No ways,you know I used to share a bedroom with my uncle recently after my parents died and everything. I was too scared to be alone so I don't really mind.Not that I am still scared or anything."he said and his ears turned to a bright pink.
"Okay,as long as your uncle is okay with it." I smiled at him trying not laugh out loud and embarrass him more than he already was.
"Of course he is!so there is the bathroom and toilet."he said opening the last door in the corridor.
It was a nice place , perfect for a small family . We ended up going outside were he showed me around up until dinner time. We walked back into the house and we found the dinner table set neatly.
"Benjamin how many times should I tell you not to stay out this late, seriously." Lily chastised.
"I was just showing Lucy around sis." he said innocently.
Lily frowned at him and gazed at me for a second. I couldn't read her expression but I felt like she didn't like me very much."Next time do it on time,it's not safe out there. Take a seat and eat please-but prayer first."
Mason walked in and took his seat. I followed suit silently and Benjamin said a little prayer giving thanks to the Lord for the food they managed to get onto the table.
"For the food we are about take ,may the Lord make us truly greatful. Amen."Benjamin said with his eyes closed and a smile glued on his face.
We ate our food silently but it wasn't really an awkward silence-it was a good silence.Mason kept stealing a few glances at me-i didn't know what to make of that. Lily avoided any eye contact with me which was disturbing. Benjamin was as excited as usual, grinning at me with a mouth full of food. I almost laughed at his childishness.
After everyone finished eating I offered to help Lily with the dishes in the kitchen. She was pregnant and shouldn't really be over active or stressing like she did when her brother went missing.Plus I knew she had something she wanted to say to me but she kept avoiding it and I was right.
As we were helping each other with the dishes Lily suddenly looked up at me holding a clean plate in her hand."I don't trust you,what exactly were you running from and why are you here?"
I swallowed hard ,"I was a slave at the palace. That is what I was running from-slavery especially being a slave to those monsters."
"So you thought coming here would be a good idea?What if they find you here,whose slave were you. Every human slave has an owner."she asked the one question I didn't want to answer.
" I am sorry I came here ,I will leave right now." I said dropping the dish towel on the counter. I couldn't answer that question and I wouldn't answer that question.
"It's already too late,you are going to get us all killed tonight."Mason said holding a gun in his hand.
Lily widened her eyes "what do you mean!"
"They are here and not just the low rank wolves. The king's warriors are here,a few minutes from our hide out."he said with a frustrated groan.
"Why would he send his warriors out here ,what did you do!Tell us now!"she screamed at me and I already had tears streaming down my face.
"I...I am the king's mate," I confessed.
"Oh yes she is and she is in a hell lot of trouble."a familiar voice said behind us and we all snapped our knecks at the source of that voice.
It was the king's beta and he held a struggling Benjamin by his kneck choking him with just one hand.
I screamed immediately "Please don't hurt him I am begging you! please, please! I will come with you please just take me!"I begged him on my knees in front of him.
"No Lucy ,Run!"Benjamin kicked and screamed.
Lily was crying her eyes out trying to get out of one of the warriors hold while Mason was smashed onto the table with chains on his hands behind his back.Everything was a disaster.If only I hadn't come here!
"Let my nephew go you bastards ,I will kill you!"Mason screamed at them.
"Oh this little piggy,sure I will let him go right away."he said emotionless.
It was all like a slow motion horror scene,he let Benjamin go and I almost let out a sigh of relief.I should have known it was one of those moments were there was no such thing as something being too good to be true.So he let little Benjamin go right after ripping his head off his body mercilessly and effortlessly-as if he was nothing but an insect that can be tossed away easily.
There was blood everywhere,red... everything was red. More and more blood everywhere I looked.My face was soacked in his blood and his body dropped right in front of me-his headless body. It was there torturing me,fresh blood flooding around my dress and all I waited for were five words-five painful words that will haunt me day and night until the day I die.
"It's your fault!It's your fault!You did this!God no! no! no!Benjamin!" Lily screamed managing to throw herself onto the ground.Her cries were so painful,I was frozen with tears streaming down my face like a waterfall. I couldn't move ,I touched his body-he couldn't leave-he was just a boy with so much ahead of him.
"Come back,come back, Benjamin!I can fix this-yes I just have to stitch you together... everything will be fine," I said softly reaching out for his head . "I have so much to tell you...and...and we can go on that run you wanted right away!" I cried out.
"Take them away,the bitch is already losing it. We don't want the king to fuck us for driving his mate to insanity."the beta laughed as one of the warriors around grabbed my hands.
Then I lost it completely,I screamed "Nooooooo!I have to fix him!Nooooo!Nooooo let me go!Benjamin!"I screamed and kicked. The beta immediately widened his eyes and walked towards me. I don't know what he did to my kneck but everything went black after that.
