Chapter 123
She was the only thing he had ever loved. Those words kept playing on and on in my head. I mean I didn't expect him to love me but it just hurt hearing that. He wanted my kind to die just because she had betrayed him. Everything else didn't matter to him-I didn't matter to him.
I looked at him in silence, well my mind wasn't silent. He walked right past me as he left the room. Maybe I had expected a bit too much from him after having sex with him. Maybe I had been foolish and so human about my emotions. I was here to save my people, yet I let him distract me. I wiped a stray tear off my face and marched out of the room.
If they were going to have this 'war' me and my people were going to survive this. If he didn't care about us then I was going to make the difficult decision. This wasn't a betrayal, this was something that had to be done.
I walked into the room were my friends were all sitting and talking. They looked at me as I walked in. I smiled at them because I knew for a fact that from today onwards I was going to be more open and I was going to make sure that I put them first. They were my team and we were in this together.
"finally, it feels like we haven't seen you in ages. I was starting to get worried about you Lu" Marcia said with a small frown.
"I know I am so sorry guys a lot has been happening lately. But the good news is we might have a way out of this." I said sitting next to Trevor.
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow "okay go on"
"so I talked to the witch and she said she could help me get rid of every monster roaming around our world," I breathed in before explaining more "there is an ancient hunter who can be awakened, if we awaken him or her then these creatures will be destroyed"
"Lucy that's great and all but how do you know that we can trust this witch? You know what they say about witches," Amara said and she had a good point but...
"we don't have a choice but to trust her. An enemy of our enemies is someone we can work with. She wants the werewolves and the banshees gone as much as we do." I told her and she nodded.
Persius hummed in agreement "this is great but how do we awaken this thing you are talking about and won't it cause trouble for us in the future?"
"it's a monster Killer Persius, that's all we need right now" Marcia said bluntly
I sighed hoping they wouldn't start arguing or debating about this "Guys don't worry about how we will awaken it the witch will take care of that. What we need to do is to get to safety before this war starts"
I honestly wasn't ready to tell my friends about who I really was or what I really was right now. I didn't understand anything about my history as well, so what could I tell them? I didn't even trust this witch anyways for all I know she could be lying-that's what they are good at anyways.
"You are right, we need to get to safety because we will definitely be vulnerable. This is a monster versus monster war and we cannot be amongst them when it happens" Trevor said
"I will find out when this war starts and I will talk to the witch. Let her know we are with her on this one" I said with a smile. I liked this... It felt like we were finally going to be saved for real this time.
Amara grinned "and I will make a plan to get the twins, I think I might have way"
"Great so let's meet here again around midnight, I think I might know a safe place to hide while shit goes down. The guys will help me out with this" Persius said looking at Trevor and Hakim
"I will have to check on my brother but I am sure he is feeling way better now although it might be a bit difficult moving around with him" Trevor said and I felt sorry for him. I felt guilty, with everything that was happening I had actually forgotten about his brother's situation.
I held Trevor's shoulder as I got up "Everything will be fine very soon... We won't have to run ever again"
Trevor held my hand tight and smiled as he nodded his head and I walked out. The witch was easy to find now that I knew her room. I knocked twice before she answered "Come in"
I walked in, she was sitting on her chair mixing up some weird things in a small wooden bowl. I cleared my throat "I want to awaken the monster hunter. My friends all agree with this"
She smiled "did you tell them about how you were going to do this?"
I almost rolled my eyes "That doesn't matter, it is non of your business. Are you going to help us or not?"
"oh of course I am as long as you do not let your feelings for your mate distract you then we have a deal" she said lighting up her candles
"Trust me they won't, when is this war starting?" I asked
She smirked "very well then little Raven. We will awaken the hunter tomorrow but just before the sun rises because the King intends to burn the banshees hide out today which will definitely poke his enemies and not in a good way. So I expect that tomorrow there will be war, if not tomorrow the day after but war is near."
"I am not waiting for this war to start, the point is for me and my people to be out of this war. It is not our war, so I will return for the awakening before sunrise" I said standing up
She nodded with a smile "good, your parents would be proud of you"
I ignored her last statement and left the room. 'I hate witches'
