Chapter 88
I groaned as I felt my head pounding,being unconscious was becoming a trend now for me. I blinked as my eyes slowly began to adjust to the light. Light! I looked around and noticed that I was nolonger at Mason and Sophie's place. I was back in the King's room and daylight was illuminating the whole room.
I quickly checked the time ,it was already 12pm. I cannot believe Mason drugged me so I could sleep through everything. Alexander probably thought I was still sick. He was probably in a meeting with Iris right now and everything was going to get ruined. I quickly tried to get up and I fell straight on my face.
I groaned as I felt my wobbly legs ache,whatever Mason injected in me had made my whole body weak. This wasn't going to stop me,I had to get to the meeting. I reached for the bed after having a hard time crawling. I held on to the mattress as I got back onto my wobbly feet.
"You can do this" I breathed out as I took slow steps forward. If I didn't do this Sharma would and then I would be truly fucked.
I walked towards the door slowly,each step was painful. I felt as though I had been hit by a bus a million times. I opened the door and walked out increasing my steps,I was practically limping now. I wondered how Mason and Sophie managed to get me back to the King's quarter without any problem.
There were less guards on the first floor which meant the meeting was definitely being held now in a hall,I knew were that was. Even if I died today Alexander wouldn't care, nobody would feel my loss and that was all I needed for motivation.
Death,I heard it was painful and also less painful depending on how your life would be ended. My death however would definitely be painful especially if the beta was the one making the kill as revenge for his only son. My heart rate increased as I saw the double doors leading to the hall.
The doors where wide open ,I could hear his voice loud and clear. He had that tone that demanded attention and respect. The voice of true leader and I had disrespected him in every way.
"We stand here today demanding justice. The people of Khiwa clan have taken one of our own. A true warrior,the only son of our beta. To us this is a sign of war! What have you to say about this leader of Khiwa Iris Stone..."Alexander said with his voice as cold as ice . His voice had me shivering as I stood close to the doors listening. My feet were frozen in place. I thought I wanted to die but deep inside I was scared as hell.
"Alexander, I did not kill your warrior. Non of my people did but if you want war then fine you will have war. Maybe this will give me the chance to take back what belongs to me and my people." Iris spoke with so much confidence. She was ready for this ,for war.
Alexander growled "Then we shall have war. It's clear that you will never accept when you have done wrong. You have no honor as always"
"Do not question my honor ,this has nothing to do with honor. I will not seat here and try to defend myself when it is clear that you have made up your mind about me. You will never believe me anyways so why waste time."she said raising her voice a little. She was clearly hurt that Alexander was so quick to judge her.
The hall was filled with people waiting to hear his judgement and the council's last judgement. I swallowed my fear and marched in. Everyone looked at me curiously,God I hated being in the spotlight. His heated gaze was the worst,he wasn't happy at all with my sudden appearance.
I kept walking towards them until I was in front of the whole crowd. I faced Alexander and the council,they were seated facing the crowd on a stage. Alexander stood up from his large seat,a huge seat made for a king. "What are you doing?Take her back to my room now!" he commanded one of his men.
Before his men could reach me I spoke out loud "I killed Daniel! I killed him because I wanted this to happen so I could escape while you were all distracted with the war!"
Everyone gasped and some people even growled in anger. "You bitch!" the beta shouted as he ran towards me ready to attack.
"Stand down Jahar!" Alexander commanded and Jahar stopped in his spot,frozen with anger radiating off him in large waves.
My heart was racing so fast. I felt him walk down the stage as he came towards me. I looked at them all,Iris had the biggest grin stuck on her face. The council members were obviously disgusted by me. I couldn't look at Alexander,I couldn't face him.
"Look at me." he demanded but I didn't dare. I kept my head down in shame.
"I said look at me!"he demanded louder this time. I jumped in fear and slowly raised my head. Betrayal,hurt,anger, disappointment and hate were evident in his silver grey eyes as they turned darker. A storm was brewing in those eyes,a bad storm.
"You want me to believe that you killed one of my best warriors,alone,"he said in a cold voice
I breathed in and nodded my head "I seduced him and poisoned him on our date. I stabbed him once he was weak and helpless. I know what I did was wrong but that was before I saw what you really do here. You can keep me prisoner forever or kill me as punishment. However there is no need for a war!"
His hand was on my neck in a second,I was choking "This human killed one of our people and framed it on us! Kill her,what are you waiting for Alex?" Iris asked with a sadistic grin on her face.
I closed my eyes. "My king kill her. We are your people,she is just a human and this is what they do. They will always be against us,she killed our only son!" Jahar said in anger. My tears were now hot and streaming down my cheeks. I wasn't strong enough for this,who was I kidding?
"Death to our enemies !" he said increasing his grip,I knew what came next,he would rip my head off now to appease his people.
"Stop! I did it,she is only covering up for me!" I snapped my eyes open in horror,Mason...what was he doing! I shook my head in tears.
"No! Don't listen to him!" I exclaimed as he released my neck.
"Daniels death deserves justice. A life for a life. One of you killed my warrior,a son to my beta,a friend to my people. Confess now or you both die here today." Alexander said sternly,anger radiating off him.
Mason stood in front of us ,I shook my head hoping he would stop this foolishness. His family needed him,why was he doing this! "Mason please!" I cried out about to take a step towards him but Alexander grabbed my neck again stopping me from making any other movements.
Mason smiled at me sadly before facing Alexander" I killed that bastard ,his father killed my nephew. I had every motive to take a life for a life. Blood for blood. You are all hypocrites.You judge us for doing the same thing that you do!"
Alexander nodded his head at his beta "your kill" he said and I screamed...
"No!Stop he is lying! No!" I screamed as I tried to get out of Alexander's hold. He grabbed my waist and held me back as Jahar turned into a large beast,a large chocolate brown wolf. He didn't waste any time ,his large teeth ripped off Mason's head before I could even blink twice. I watched as he ripped him apart limb by limb until he was satisfied with his job.
"No! No no no" I cried as the pain of his death dug deep right into my soul. Everything I do,it always ends up so wrong even if it's for the right reasons. I threw up immediately suddenly feeling drained. "No,no,no!" I screamed again. I was losing my mind,this wasn't supposed to happen. It should have been me!
Alexander turned me around so I was facing his broad chest. He held my sweaty face "shhhhh,quiet!" he commanded but I couldn't. I stopped screaming but I couldn't stop crying. He held the back of my neck and whispered in my ear so only I could hear him.
"She tried protecting a murderer,she should also join her dead lover in the dirt!" one of the council members said out loud.
"You will do well to keep your mouth shut, I am the king and I will decide her fate" Alexander said with a voice full of authority. "She indeed did try to save this dead man but she also managed to save us all from a war that could have cost us all a lot more than any one of you could have imagined. A war amongst ourselves! However she must pay for her sins. You are hereby banished from our home! If we see your face on our lands you will be killed on sight. Take her away."he said staring deeply into my eyes,he didn't even blink once.
I didn't cry as they took me away, I didn't cry as I watched Iris put up an ugly smirk,I didn't cry as I saw Mason's grotesque body parts spread out on the floor. Crying was weak ,I kept Alexander's words replaying in my head. He whispered to me,he told me to be strong for some reason. "Live for your kind as I have lived for mine" those were his words.
