Chapter 216

As Roman and I strolled through the quiet pathways, a mischievous glint in his eyes caught my attention. We had decided to get some fresh air, a lot has been going on and we had not gotten some alone time. It was frustrating but at the same time I knew that I had to help save my new family nomatter what.

"So, Iris," he began, a playful smirk dancing on his lips, "any new secrets you've been keeping from me?"

Roman was so playful sometimes I loved how he turned something that I thought he would hate me for forever into something light. It made me feel better about telling him anything. I didn't have to feel nervous or scared.

I rolled my eyes, pretending to ponder his question. "Oh, you know, just the usual werewolf stuff – full moon picnics and midnight howling practice."

Roman chuckled, his arm wrapping around my waist. "Sounds like a wild party. I hope I'm invited."

I playfully nudged him. "Only if you promise not to embarrass yourself with your howling skills."

He raised an eyebrow, a challenge gleaming in his eyes. "Embarrass myself? I'll have you know, my howling is legendary."

I smirked. "Legendary in which universe, exactly?"

Roman's fingers traced small circles on my back. "In the universe where I get to impress the most beautiful werewolf in existence."

His words caught me off guard, and I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks. Roman had a knack for turning even the simplest moments into sweet declarations.

"Smooth, Alpha," I teased, feigning nonchalance.

He winked, the moonlight highlighting the mischief in his eyes. "I aim to please."

As we continued our leisurely walk, Roman's playful banter and the warmth of his presence created a delightful ambiance. The tension from the earlier mysteries seemed to dissipate, replaced by the comfort of shared laughter.

Out of nowhere, Roman stopped and tilted his head, a contemplative expression on his face. "You know, Iris, I've been thinking."

I raised an eyebrow. "Dangerous territory. What's on your mind, Alpha?"

He grinned, pulling me closer. "I was thinking we need an official pack event. Something to lift everyone's spirits."

I smirked. "And what brilliant idea do you have in mind?"

His eyes sparkled mischievously. "A werewolf talent show. Picture it – howling competitions, moonlit dances, and, of course, the grand finale featuring yours truly."

I burst into laughter. "You want to showcase your howling skills in public? Are you sure you're not trying to start a pack-wide comedy show?"

Roman feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "I'll have you know, my howling is a work of art. But if you're not impressed, maybe you could join me on stage and show off your talents."

I smirked. "What talents would those be, exactly?"

He leaned in, his lips grazing my ear. "The talent of stealing my heart every single day."

A soft warmth spread through me, and I couldn't help but chuckle. "Okay, Alpha, you win this round."

He grinned triumphantly, squeezing me in a gentle embrace. "I always do."

"I don't know if you are joking or not but actually hosting something would be nice for the pack. Maybe something small though because we still have a lot on our plates" I said looking at him, it was a good idea especially for the children.

He nodded "I will let Rya know she loves planning these things but you will probably have to plan this event with Ella. Rya is probably not in a good space right now."

"Thank you!" I said excited as I hugged him and he kissed my forehead.

The next day came and I was super excited . The sun painted the sky with hues of orange and pink as we gathered in the communal hall, a buzz of excitement echoing through the air. Ella, Rya, and the other women from the pack, most of them mothers, joined me in the planning of an event that promised joy and laughter for the little ones in our pack.

"Iris, this is such a fantastic idea," Ella exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "The children could use some joy, especially after everything that's happened."

I nodded, a smile playing on my lips. "Exactly. I spoke to Roman about it, and he agreed. A small event just for the kids. Something to bring a bit of light into their lives."

The room buzzed with ideas as we brainstormed the details. Decorations, games, and treats—all carefully planned to create a memorable day for the children. Ella, being the creative force she was, suggested a mini-carnival theme.

"We could have a little booth for face painting, a mini-carousel, and maybe even a magician," she proposed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

The other women chimed in, adding their ideas to the mix. There were nods of approval and shared laughter as we envisioned the joy on the children's faces. It felt like a welcomed break from the challenges we faced.

As we worked on the preparations, Ella couldn't resist teasing me. "Iris, I can't wait for you and Roman to have your own little ones. Just imagine the cuteness!"

I blushed, waving off her comment with a playful smile. "Let's focus on making this event amazing for the kids first. We'll see about the rest later."

With each passing moment, the plans took shape. Colorful banners adorned the walls, and tables were filled with crafts, sweets, and little surprises for the children. It was heartwarming to witness the camaraderie among the women, their shared goal of creating a special day for the little ones.

As the event day arrived, the communal hall transformed into a haven of joy. Children's laughter echoed, and excited chatter filled the air. Face painting stations, a small carousel, and a magician's booth drew smiles from the youngsters. It was a day of games, treats, and shared moments that brought our pack closer together.

Ella and I watched from the sidelines, our hearts swelling with happiness as the children reveled in the festivities. It was a reminder that amidst the challenges we faced, there were moments of pure joy and unity.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the event, Ella nudged me playfully. "See, Iris? This is just a taste of what it could be like when you and Roman have your own little ones."
