Chapter 99
"You are not going out there" he said with a growl,we all looked at him and to be honest I was a bit scared especially with the way his eyes were almost a charcoal black.
Vladimir cleared his throat "actually I think that's a better idea"
"I am losing my patience with you Vladimir,you dare go against your King?" Alexander said and you could almost see his veins popping out on both his hands that were balled into fists.
"Why can't I go there if you find it hard to believe that they exist,what are you so afraid of?" I asked him,genuinely curious
Karen glared at me "watch your tone when you address our king"
"She is right, we need confirmation that these things exist and the only way to get it is for them to prove it" Vladimir said
"We can send some of our military" Alexander said sternly. I didn't know if he was really concerned about my safety or it was just his wolf. Which is why I didn't know how to feel about this situation .
"You are willing to risk our kind for them?As punishment for entering our territory to steal food in the first place they should go and bring evidence that these creatures do exist. If they survive and bring evidence we will let them go safely but if it turns out they lied we will kill them all" Karen said confidently without blinking an eye.
She wasn't so sweet after all, I would have expected Vladimir to come up with something like that instead of her. Vladimir had a nasty grin stuck on his face ,he was happy about the way this whole situation turned out.
"There she took the words right out of my mouth!" he exclaimed "there is absolutely no better way to handle this. My king you know this is the only way we can go about this without risking our kind"
Alexander had a straight face ,no one could read what he was thinking right now. He just seemed as if he was looking right through Vladimir as he came up with his very blunt reply "They will go, three of them and I will be going with them. My beta will stay ,karen will be coming with me."
Vladimir looked horrified as he listened to his king speak "That is absurd! My King you cannot put yourself at risk like this"
"My king I can go with them ,there is no reason for you to come with us. We cannot afford for something to go wrong with you there" karen added
Alexander held up his left hand "Silence,I have made up my mind. There's no point in sending mere humans alone. What would be the point if they all end being killed by these things? Then there will be no evidence or a way of us knowing if these things exist. They are just leading us there and the rest we will see for ourselves. I am a king for a reason,don't make me look as if I'm some fragile monument that has to be kept away from harms way forever"
"I am sorry my King I did not mean to sound that way" karen apologized while Vladimir kept starring daggers at us,that look that screamed 'you will pay for this especially if something happens to our king' I could clearly read those words from his eyes.
I looked away ,I personally did not ask for Alexander to come with us but he had a point. If we died then this whole expedition would be pointless. "We leave now, there's no reason to wait until tomorrow" Alexander said getting up from his seat.
"Can I see my babies before we leave,I just have to see them one last time before something bad probably happens to me" I said without making eye contact with any one of them.
"They are not your children" he said coldly
I wanted to punch him in the face for saying that but I avoided causing any unnecessary drama that could put me and my family in danger "Can I see them..." I repeated the important part
"You will see them when you return with the evidence but before that they will be held here safely. However fail to produce that evidence and their safety will be compromised"karen said in a neutral voice you could hardly tell the emotions behind it.
I swallowed hard as Amara held my hand "okay,fine"
This made me think that these wolves were raised to hide their emotions professionally. You could hardly tell how they felt,whether they loved holding babies hostage or if they even sympathized with our kind even if it was just for a few seconds. Alexander always had a straight face,ice cold,no smile or sign of happiness. His past always haunted me but I tried not to think of it after all I had no intentions of involving myself in his life after what happened between us. I didn't deserve him and he didn't deserve me.
"Get everything you need,we leave as soon as possible" Alexander said in low voice.
I walked with my Family back to the large room we were being held and we entered. "Okay so I will be going with you that's quite obvious right?" Amara asked and I shook my head. There was no ways I was going to put her safety at risk. She was strong but I needed to know she was safe with the kids. They adored her and they needed one of us here.
"No Mara I need you here to protect the kids,you know they adore you and they need one of us here. I trust you and Marcia will make great mommies while I'm out there." I explained this to them both. Marcia quickly agreed,she was never the one to argue over something.She liked being simple all the time.
Amara frowned but eventually nodded "okay only because you used the kids card on me but that's not fair"
"I will go with you,you will be safe" Trevor said and I nodded my head. I trusted him and I knew there was no point in refusing,Trevor always won in these arguments.
