Chapter 124

When a rose loses its first petal it is bound to lose the rest. When the heart breaks your body and soul are bound to go through the worst. It is funny how I felt like a rose without its petals and you know what they say -a rose without its petals is no longer a rose. I was exactly like that rose. I felt like an empty vessel.

My mind kept telling me to be happy because my world could finally be free from the creatures that haunt us day and night. We could finally walk freely without looking behind our backs every second of our lives. However my heart was somewhere else, I felt guilty. I felt like I was doing exactly what 'he' was doing, killing the innocent. This hunter that I was about to awaken would kill every creature that wasn't human even if they were good.

"No Lucy, every monster is pure evil." I whispered to myself as I made my way to the witch. I couldn't afford to think otherwise and I didn't owe Alexander anything because he didn't care-he made that perfectly clear. It was going to be my kind or theirs that survive this war. I would do everything I can to ensure that my people survive .

My heart pounded hard against my chest as I entered the witches room and I swallowed loudly. I was really going to do this, this was really happening. The wish was sitting on her usual table staring at the candle light as If it had some hidden secrets she wanted so badly.

"You will be the one to bring us light once again. The world is covered on darkness, it has no balance but after today the balance that used to be there will be restored" she said

I walked towards her and sat down right next to her. I looked at the candle "Dont you feel a bit bad that we are literally going to kill every supernatural being?" I asked her. I just had to make sure this was the right thing to do.

"I don't Lucy and you shouldn't feel bad as well. They shouldn't exist, the human species will not survive as long as they exist. Do you understand what I'm saying?" she said with a serious tone. She was confident she was right, there was no doubt in her voice and this just made me even more confident as well.

" I understand" I told her nodding my head.

She narrowed her eyes at me "There is no room for doubt. It you against them now"

I swallowed hard, this was way harder than I thought it would be. She took my hand "you will follow me now"

We walked out of the room. She led me to the ground floor. It was dark with a few lit torches, she grabbed one. My heart was beating so fast, I felt like I was in a very bad situation but I didn't have an option. It had to be done.

"it smells like death down here" I said scrunching up my nose. It really did smell like death and rats. I didn't like being down here at all.

"that's because death lives down here" she said and I felt like my skin was crawling. It seemed like she always had something unsettling to say.

I didn't say another word as we continued pour way down the dark hallway. I wondered if the king new about this place or if this castle was filled with secret areas. He probably didn't know a lot of secrets that were hidden under his nose. If I were him I would be so angry.

I felt like I was in a cave at this point. She stopped and looked at me. I looked back at her "what?"

"we are here" she said with a grin.

I looked around trying to see if I was probably missing something here. We were surrounded by stone walls and that was it. "is this supposed to be a joke?" I asked her annoyed.

She smiled and put her hand on the wall in front of her. All of a sudden it opened up like some secret door. My eyes were wide as saucers, I was so shocked. This was something I had only seen in a movie when I was younger.

" come" she said as she walked in and I followed her hoping this wasn't going to be the biggest mistake of my life.

We entered a place that looked like smaller cave-this is the only possible description I could give to anyone if I was to ever tell this story. It had more light because there were torches almost in every corner of the place. In the middle there was a large tomb. An ancient tomb, I have seen one before and my friends told me tombs like this were only meant to bury royals and their treasures.

I looked at the witch as she walked towards the tomb. She looked back at me "come, don't be afraid this is your fate"

I walked towards her with a straight face until I was right next to her. Now that I was closer to the tomb I could see the beautiful symbols on the tomb. Swirls that ran endlessly and some words written in the old language. She took out a dagger as I let my fingertips trace the patterns on the tomb.

"give me your hand, this will only hurt a little" she said

I looked at her for what seemed like the longest second of my life. I couldn't turn back now, this had to be done. I gave her my hand and before I could say a word she slit my palm and I winced. It didn't hurt just a little, it hurt a lot! I watched as my blood poured on top of the tomb, there was a hole I didn't notice at first and my blood disappeared as it entered right through it.

I watched and waited for something to happen. I thought this was it, my job was done and we could leave. Before I could tell the witch I was leaving the tomb opened and my body froze..
