Chapter 103
"Don't you dare die on me, Alexander or Alessandro. I have no idea what to call you, but don't you dare die on me or I will follow you to wherever you are going and kill you myself."
Alexander kept jerking on the bed, attempt from Jacqueline to still him were futile.
"Get someone In here." She yelled at Vincenzo.
Vincenzo panicked, remaining rooted to the spot. His brain stopped functioning temporarily. No matter how he tried to bring himself to move, his feet was against the idea.
“What the fvck sake, Vincenzo, you're losing another son. If something happens to him, his death is on your conscience." Jacqueline yelled and that was all it took to bring him back.
"He can't die." He muttered, making his way to the door.
"Get a doctor in here." Vincenzo screamed once he was standing in the hallway.
Immediately A doctor ushered into Alexander's ward.
"Take her out." The doctor said to a nurse.
"No, I'm staying with him." Jacqueline shook her head, grasping onto his hand.
"Ma'am, if you want him back, I'll suggest you let us do our work." The doctor said, proceeding to attend to Alexander.
Jacqueline shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
"I can't leave him, not in this state." She muttered.
"You can watch from outside." The nurse said, trying to disconnect her hand from Alexander's.
"Jackie." Vincenzo called softly from the door. She turned to stir at him, shaking her head. Vincenzo nodded at her, she whimpered, wiping her tears. Jacqueline glanced back at Alexander, finally disconnecting their entwined hands and ran to Vincenzo, hugging him.
He nodded at the nurses, pulling a disoriented Jacqueline with him.
"I can't lose him." She muttered, crying in his arms.
"You won't." Vincenzo said comfortingly. It was weird for him, having to comfort someone. He didn't know when last he did it, so he didn't know what to do.
"He's been through a lot, he can't just die when things were beginning to look up for him."
"He's not dying." Vincenzo muttered, raising his hands slowly to pat her back.
"I love him, I've never told him and if something happens to him,I'll never forgive myself for not at least letting him know that someone in this world cared about him." Jacqueline said, breaking in another round of tears.
"You'll get plenty chance to tell him, my sweet child." Vincenzo muttered.
"How can you be do calm and collected, your only son is at the verge of dying and you are...calm. It's weird." Jacqueline disengaged from the hug to stare at him.
"I'm not, baby. I'm this close to breaking down. But, I can't. If am crying and you're crying, what sense does it make? Who will comfort each other?" He asked, using his thumb to wipe the tears on her face.
"That true." Jacqueline muttered, hugging him back.
"Are you sure you don't have to lie down? You've been through an ordeal in a space of thirty six hours? You must be tired." Vincenzo said after some minutes.
They were currently sitting on a waiting bench just outside Alexander's ward. Vincenzo had Jacqueline in his arms.
She shook her head "it's you am worried about." She said looking up at him.
"Your hands are a little bit shaky and your heart is racing more than usual, are you alright?" Jacqueline asked. For the past thirty minutes, his hands were on her shoulder, while she rested on his chest. She could hear his heart pounding and she knew it wasn't normal.
"I'm fine." Vincenzo said. It was clear he was trying to be strong, but his shaky voice betrayed him.
"No, you're not." Jacqueline shook her head, refusing to accept. She grabbed his face, checking him. His eyes had turned an abnormal white.
"I'm okay, seriously." He said, trying to control his labored breathing.
"Are you having a heart failure?" Jacqueline stood up.
"It was-" Vincenzo was unable to complete his statement, gripping his chest.
"Can you please get him checked." Jacqueline grabbed a nurse that was passing by. The woman springed into action
"Can we get a gurney here." She yelled in the direction of the reception.
"Any idea what's wrong with him?" Jacqueline asked, the way the nurses were running about it seemed serious.
"Has he had an heart failure before?" The nurse asked.
Jacqueline widened her eyes in shock, placing her both arms on her head.
"I don't know." She muttered.
The nurse spared a glance at her and shook her head. "You seemed cozy with him a while ago and you don't know if your dad has had a heart failure before?" She spat in disgust.
Jacqueline was taken aback at the woman's theory.
"When did jumping into conclusion start being in the resumé of nurses. I thought your main goal was to analyze and test the theory before doing anything else." Jacqueline fired at her. Vincenzo had already been taken away by the other nurses and a doctor, it was just her with the bitch of a nurse.
"Maybe if you paid this same amount of attention you just gave me to the men in your life, they won't be critically ill and on deaths door at the same time. I wonder who will screw your hole tonight" The nurse retorted.
Jacqueline rolled her eyes, wondering how she had to stop this particular bitchy nurse.
"What because you can't keep a man, talkless of two capable billionaire. Just so you know, Amara... A stupid name for a wild demanding hole. You don't just assume and conclude because you can, I have the power to fvck your life real bad if you don't watch your mouth and walk away." Jacqueline said, stepping up to her. She was way taller than Amara and when standing directly opposite each other, Amara looked tiny.
"Really, without your men, I'm sure you're nothing." Amara scoffed, she was clearly unmatched but she won't back down.
"Just so you know, one is my husband, the older man is my overprotective father in law"
