Mafia’s possession:Chapter 53
She could feel a banging headache which made her groan in pain. Her eyes cracked open only to total darkness. Her breath hitched in her throat as she tried to get up from the chair, she realised that her hands were tied behind her back.
"Please, don't kill me. Let me go," she whimpered. Her heartbeat accelerated when she got no response. Her throat was dry and she craved a drink.
She couldn't remember coming to this place. How did she get here? After a few minutes, the memories came flooding back to her mind. She remembered leaving the mansion as instructed by Chain. The last thing she remembered was being struck by someone.
Fear swept through Jacqueline as she struggled in the darkness to untie herself. Which proved difficult. In that moment, tears slipped down her face and a feeling of dread enveloped her.
She was scared for her life. Knowing Chain, he would stop at nothing until he got what he wanted. She thought about her sister, wondering if she was safe. A wave of panic hit her when the door creaked open, she heard footsteps then silence took over. It was like she was lost in a different world.
"Please, let me go," her voice trembled as she pleaded.
All she got was absolute silence and she swallowed hard. Suddenly, the light came on and she snapped her eyes shut from the brightness of the light.
"Well, well, well. Look who we have here," Chain sneered.
Her heart skipped a beat when she heard his voice which sent cold shivers down her spin. She could still feel the banging headache and she winced in pain.
As she tried to speak, her voice was caught in her throat and no sound came out. She whimpered, her wrist felt sore from being tied behind her back.
Gradually, she opened her eyes and trained them on Chain. He stood watching her like a hawk. His muscular frame was embedded in black pants and a blue t-shirt with cut off sleeves. A cigarette was stuck in his mouth, the stub glowed red as he took a drag and puffed it into the air.
He came close and his hand drifted to her hair, then he ran his fingers through it. "It's quite a shame, soon you'll have no use for your beautiful hair because your head will be rolling on the ground," he threatened in a harsh voice.
Jacqueline's eyes widened in horror and her breathing became hard and heavy in her chest. Shaking her head vigorously, she yelled, "No! No! Don't do this to me!," her eyes could not hold the torrents of tears rushing down her face.
"Ah, scared little princess doesn't want to die," he chuckled. "You were given a little task and what did you do?, you messed it up."
She felt stupid for coming out to see him, if she had the abilities to read the future, she wouldn't have worked for him from the beginning. Her life would have been better if she hadn't crossed parts with him.
Remembering how she got to this point only added misery to her. She shut her eyes tight as tears flowed. Alexander also contributed to her predicament. If only he had let things slide between them at the hotel, she wouldn't be in this mess.
Rather, he saw it as a duty to tell her boss of how she tried to play smart by drugging her clients. At to think she couldn't bring herself to do what is required of her. She knew that if she had put more effort, Chain would have gotten substantial information about Alexander.
All she ever cared about in the mansion was her feelings for Alexander and how he would react when he gets to know of her betrayal.
"I did all I could to get you what you want. I tried my best," she whispered in tears.
He threw the cigarette on the floor and crushed it under his shoe. His hands balled into a tight fist and he could feel his fingers digging in. "You call that playing around, your best," he spat.
And Jacqueline trembled in fear, her heart sank to the pit of her stomach. "I will do more, I promise," her voice had a tinge of fear mixed with anxiety.
He grabbed her by the shoulder and shook her vigorously which made her scream in panic.
"Shut the fuck up," he yelled. "Maybe, I will have to get your sister. It will speed things up and make you cooperate. How about that?"
"Please, she is sick. Don't harm her," she pleaded.
He walked away from her and walked to the table close to the wall. There was a bottle of whisky on the table, his back was turned to her and he took a full gulp from the bottle and dropped it back.
Chain lit another cigarette, taking a drag which blew out from his mouth. If he doesn't act fast, getting Alexander will be difficult. In the past few months, he had spent his time going after Alexander, abandoning his business in the care of his manager. He knew the club would run smoothly under his manager. His presence would have resulted in more deals.
A huge sum has been placed on Alexander's head, once the bastard is down, he will be paid one hundred million dollars. He brought out the cigarette as if examining it. He knew that Alexander was worth more than that but he was willing to do it for that amount.
All he needed was the perfect timing to get him without leaving any trail that would lead to him. The Vladimir mafia group is the most dangerous group to have been established. If anything goes wrong, he will be wiped out from the face of the earth.
He turned to Jacqueline who looked pale and weak. She was just a tool to him. "Alexander has a safe which contains documentation of their deals spanning from ten years ago. If that document makes it out to the public, it will spell doom for the Vladimir mafia group. I was reliably informed that the safe is in Alexander's mansion. Get it for me."
