Chapter 91
Chain shut his eyes, breathing in and out in relief.
Alexander started staring from the manager, then at Chain. You could tell he was not convinced.
"Yeah, right. Let's believe that." Alexander nodded. Romano stared at his friend weirdly, not understanding a thing of what was going on.
"I'll send the new supplier's number to you." The manager, Toby said.
Chain nodded "I'll see you all later." He said, looking at Jacqueline and Alexander who were back to acting lovey dovey.
"I'm sure you will." Alexander said. It was clear that there was another meaning to his statement. Everyone present knew and they all reacted differently. Jacqueline coughed In discomfort, while Chain practically ran out of the building.
"Ready to go?" Alexander asked, his question directed at Jacqueline.
She nodded, picking up her phone and purse, walking out to the door.
"What was that about?" Romano asked immediately when Jacqueline was out of sight.
"What?" Alexander asked back, looking at his wristwatch.
"You talk like you know something they think you don't." Romano replied.
"That's because I do." Alexander said, finally raising his head to stare at Romano.
"Woah. What's going on, let me know." Romano said.
"In due time, brother. In due times." Alexander replied, tapping his best friend on the shoulder.
"You keep saying that. When it is due time, I hate being left in the dark. There's something juicy going on and I have no idea what, you know how much I love the gist and the fun." Romano grumbled as they walked out together.
"I know that and it's not my intention. You love the gist, this time it isn't finished yet, or would you want me to just give you half of it?" Alexander asked.
Romano paused, probably contemplating about it. "Yeah, I guess I can wait for it to be completed." He muttered after some time.
Alexander nodded in response, "that's my boy." He said, smirking.
"Hey! I'm not a boy, stop calling me that." Romano grumbled and Alexander burst out laughing. "You whine like a kid." He said.
"I don't!" Romano refuted.
"You do!" Alexander retorted.
"I don't!" He refuted again.
"Can you both cut it out?" Jacqueline sighed.
They both turned to stare at her.
"Do I whine like a kid?" Romano asked, pouting.
"Yes." Jacqueline answered immediately and Alexander couldn't help but laugh "told you." He said to Romano who was now blinking his eyes repeatedly like he was going to cry.
"Get in your car, kiddo." Alexander said, patting his head.
"I'm not a kiddo, stop with the childish sounding names." Romano huffed, folding his arms.
"Okay, get into your car, mature man." Jacqueline butted in.
"Yes, now you're talking, I disown you Alexander. Jacqueline is my new best friend and who knows we might be something more with time." Romano spoke, his pouting and angry face gone, now replaced with a smirk.
Jacqueline looked at Alexander who was now frowning.
"They're some type of joke you shouldn't do, Romano." Alexander growled, causing the other two to laugh their ass off.
"Jeez, much protective?" Romano asked, clutching onto his stomach. His ribs now hurt because of how hard he laughed.
"Yesss. How would you feel if I made that joke about Ariel?" He asked, still frowning.
"Wait, which Ariel? My Ariel?" Jacqueline asked, confused. Ariel and Romano, together? It was hard to believe, seeing as they hated each other.
"Uh-huh. They're together." Alexander concurred, jumping on the bonnet of his car.
"How did the hate turn to love?" Jacqueline asked, still not understanding.
"Well, um. It just sort of happened." Romano answered, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling shy.
"Someone is shy." Alexander whistled, earning a soft punch from him.
"It's unbelievable." Jacqueline muttered.
"No, it isn't." Alexander said.
"How?" She asked.
"You hated me didn't you? And now look at us, you can't even live without me" He said, pulling her into his arms.
"Right." Jacqueline mumbled, using his hands to wrap around her neck. It was true though, but he'll probably never know the real reason.
"Ugh, please. Get a room. I think i'm gonna barf." Romano broke the little silence that descended on them, his face scrunched up in disgust.
"Oh, you're still here." Alexander muttered.
"Wait, we spoke thirty seconds ago and it took you that little time to forget me? How dare you, Alexander Hamilton Vladimir." Romano said dramatically, gasping and holding his chest.
Jacqueline chuckled, loving the banter between the two. It was hard to see Alexander so carefree and letting his guard down.
"Of course. I thought you left already, you're a pest and stay away from my middle name, Jason." Alexander stated, glaring at his best friend.
"I'm going. Now I know how much our friendship is to me and to you, nothing. You don't regard me one bit. Imagine forgetting me in a span of thirty seconds." Romano scoffed, feigning annoyance. He unlocked his car, about to get inside.
"And you ask me why I call you a kid." Alexander huffed.
"Don't talk to me, I'm no more talking to you. You've hurt me enough and I revoke our friendship, unless you ask for my forgiveness."
Alexander gasped, playing along to his best friend's games.
"You don't think not talking to me is a little bit extreme? You are my best friend and my brother." Alexander muttered in an almost childish voice. Jacqueline had to untangle herself from his grip so she could see his face expression as dammit it was cute.
"Is that an apology?" Romano asked, imitating a child's voice.
Alexander nodded, getting down from his car and hugging his best friend.
"Heavens, didn't you guys have enough fun as kids? What was this display?" Jacqueline asked, palming her forehead.
They both turned to look at her, their eyes eyeing her for ruining their moment.
"Jeez, you both are the only man-child that I've come across in all my time on earth." She shook her head, getting into the backseat of Alexander's far.
"She doesn't understand." Romano said.
"She has no idea." Alexander concurred.
